all 4 of mine were impacted and i just got them all removed on monday. i was scared about the iv because i've never had one before, but it wasn't bad at all. my face barely got swollen.
Yeah, I was completely knocked out via IV for my four impacted wisdom teeth. However, guys at boot camp sometimes didn't even get enough anesthetics for the procedure. Those dentists were ruthless =P
I just had my bottom left wisdom tooth pulled out after i cracked it a few months ago...my dentist sent me to the dental hospital, in the UK you get them taken out for free at the dental hospital, i felt no pain getting it out...it was just taking ages to pull..my wisdom tooth had 4 roots and the dentist said thats why it was so hard to pull...that was saturday and now my jaw is black and blue and aches somewhat to the ear...all the tablets im loading now its a wonder i made it to work today..
@misspopmusic42 The same reason we are about to invade Iran. Because one day they might be a threat... And because its multi billion dollar industry.
Don't get me wrong.. Sometimes it is necessary to get wisdom teeth out.. But you should just take them all out because one day they might cause a problem.
@misspopmusic42 I was just wondering the same thing so im going to google it lol, I think it has something to do with teeth fitting in your mouth properly b/c wisdom teeth are at the back of the mouth and I know/think they push on others crowding them together
I had my dentist give me my wisdom teeth back in a baggy after they were removed. 2 of them were completely in tact. Other 2 were thrown out because they had to be broken to be removed.
wonder whats worse a wisdom tooth or 10 teeth at once like what happened to me 2 years ago, weird thing is i swallowed a third of the stitches on the ride home, and my teeth are still growing back -.-
@JayandKay13 If you're getting more than two pulled out at a time more than likely they will sedate you. If they use a needle you will only feel the medicine going into your gums. Also just like the dentist said you will feel a lot of pressure. It's not too bad though. I think you'll be fine my pain tolerance is very low and I could handle it so, just stay calm and think about something peaceful :)
So I am 16, almost 17, and in 6 months to a year I have to get mine taken out. Luckily I only have three but I am so scared of the dentist. Only one of the teeth will probably come through the gum by the time I get them taken out because I can already feel it. Does anyone have some suggestions as to how to calm my nerves? I've had 6 teeth pulled before and I hated it. I don't think te dentist will sedate me..
@jujitsumon I was very nervous to get my root canal done. I went to the dentist they numbed me and then started drilling for a little bit of time which was a bit uncomfortable not because it hurt just because of metal in my mouth. I was more nervous about the actual root canal part. They did some other stuff with like a light and other gummy stuff idk but and they they said "alright all done". I was like no root canal? and they said it was already done. Its a breeze, don't worry bout it.
The whole anxiety thing makes it worse. Your mind plays tricks on you. I thought by going under (iv sedation) I wasn't going to wake up! The first thing I said when I woke up was "I made it!!" haha. It was 100% worth it though because I had so many complications from the wisdom teeth.
I had all 4 of my wisdom teeth removed. One of the worst experiences I have ever went thru. I got the iv sedation. The surgery itself was great... as soon as the iv was set, I felt so relaxed and couldn't remember anything after that. I had a cyst removed. They were badly impacted. Some will feel less pain than others but for me it was horrid. 2nd/3rd day is the WORST. Keep ice on it. Take pills every 3-4 hours. I couldn't take the Vicodins, so it was just tylenol and ibro for me. Sucked!
I also had my wisdom teeth removed but all four at the same time. I was kind of nervous at first and didn't want to do it because it sounded like it was going to be painful but it wasn't. A few seconds after they put the IV in my arm I was out and I didn't remember anything after that until I woke up, my lower half of my jaw was numb and I could barely stand up but I didnt feel any pain. Although I couldn't eat any solid foods for a couple of day's.
@DarkLeonUK Because the teeth are impacted under the gums and will cause the alignment of his teeth to become crooked. Also it causes pain. People usually get them out when their around 20. Im not a dentist but that's just common knowledge.
Omfg. Im 16, and scared shitless of the dentist. I had to get a front bottom tooth pulled and I was so scared I almost cried when they did it. Also I could feel the roots being tore out regardless of the 5 numbing shot things, im pretty sure im going to die when my time comes to grow these in and taken out.
When your roots are only 3 millimeters long, you don't have much pain. My roots wrap around my jawbone. It was extremely painful. Plus I was denied painkillers, so...
Got all 4 of mine taken out today. Honestly, the worst part is thinking about how bad it is. It's pretty much painless as long as you keep on your meds after the surgery.
Just had all 4 and a broken molar removed at once today. Been about 15 hours and just a small amount if pain. Trust me folks im a wuss and it wasnt bad at all
Because I'm like already full grown(what the doctor said) and he said its unlikely for this age but he said something about mullers or something's that grows In the back of ur mouth and I already grew them like a year or two ago. I just want to kno of this is normal or not
@kritet1 You are supposed start growing your wisdom teeth later so that your jaw will be big enough to fit them. Recently in 1st world countries wisdom teeth are growing in too soon so many times they become a problem.
Wisdom teeth were called that because you would be a adult when they start growing in and being a adult is when you would become "wise". Hence the name wisdom teeth.
i i was you m8 i would get it my wisdom tooth took out because it causes so mutch pain unless you use antibiotics or painkillers even when you take painkillers or antibiotics it takes nearly a hour just to get rid of the pain
When I had mine removed (all four at one time) they knocked me completely out through an IV, didn't really have any pain that I can remember. My little brother had a couple of his removed last year, his apparently didn't go as smooth as mine and because he's a stubborn bastard he refused to just stay in his bed and let me get stuff for him, so he got up to get water and ended up passing out. I had to catch his 6'7" ass so he wouldn't hurt himself
OMG greeeeat video! i loved how clear everything was! So it seems i have alot of space back there and my wisdom tooth seems to be growing out normally (not like in a weird position but straight down) but its still hard to open my mouth and eat--do u think ill need to get removed?? or is this temporary (my mouth being hard to open and eat thing)
@EscalofrioX666 might feel the first 2-3 shots ( its not that bad anyway ). after that they give you shots but you dont feel shit. the incision you feel, but its bareable pain. the yanking out the teeth you dont feel anything but you can hear the root breaking. sounds like ripping fibers. sounds worse than it actually feels. it wasn't that bad.
I had 4 of my wisdom teeth taken out a few years ago and they hurt so much!! One was pulled and the other three were surgically removed. It was the worst pain ever!! @sakeness All 4 taken out at once? I have to get 1 taken out the coming month. fucking sucks, I haven't been to the dentist in over 10 years, I take very good care of my teeth.
@ShallowHeII Yes. I had all 4 taken out at the same time (took about 20-30 minutes). I figure since I was there already I might as well just get the other three out too b/c when my wisdom tooth was coming out, it was giving me bad migraines & I couldn't talk that much nor eat also. So, I didn't want to go through that pain again. Those three that were surgically removed hurt the most since the dentist had to cut my gum open to get them out. It was the most excruciating pain ever!
I had 4 wisdom teeth removed 2 surgicaly , 2 pulled, and i had like 7 novacaine shots in my mouth & near my tonsils. When the novacaine weared off it was one of the worsest & painful experiences i ever had had in my life . I had lost like 10 lbs the 1st week because i couldnt eat. I wouldnt wish this pain & suffering on my worsest enemy. BTW gargles & salt can really help !
I got 2 of my wisdom teeth removed with a general a few weeks ago. Was amazing to see the impacted one being pulled as one of mine was impacted. I did have a lot of swelling, my face was bruised and the stitches took 2 weeks to dissolve. The back of my gums at that side are now tight and hurt a couple of times a day. I am hoping it is down to things still settling down as it was only 6 weeks ago and isn't a permanent thing.
yea mine was not that easy.... i threw up that night after my surgery from the medicine I was put on. I had to have two cut out and my face was so swollen for a week... I'm not sure if everyone's surgery is this easy. It was worse than my microscopic knee surgery. However I do love my dentist and I'm not afraid of going and having my teeth cleaned or worked on. And not everyone has to have them pulled... it's just if it messes with the alignment of your other teeth.
wow, i get mine remived a couple days... after the infection cakns down... i'm nervous as hell and can't sleep... but hopefully the toothache goes away and have no complications...
@razerheartbeat12 Get a script for some painkillers afterwards. I only had the tops pulled after they already came in because they started to shift outward and chew on my cheek making eating a pain. The removal was great, no real pain or anything. But as soon as the shots wore off, I was miserable. It wasn't a sharp pain, but it is more like a constant headache. I can deal with sharp pains that don't last long just fine. But dull pain that goes on for hours kills me. Get drugs.
@Falewick My ex girlfriend had all 4 out at once mate, she said it didn't hurt AT ALL! don't worry, I'd be more worried about the goblin under your bed!
Some wisdom tooth removals will have less after-effects than others. If your wisdom teeth are already exposed (not buried under the gum), you usually will have a better healing process afterwards.
Oh God. I wish mine as painless as yours. They had to dig out some of my jaw when they removed mine. My face looked like a pro boxer just punched me in the face bare knuckle for like a week. The bruising lasted for practically a month.
@TheLexi358 i have had my wisdom teeth for the last 5 years. Two on the top, two on the bottom. They fit in my jaw structure so they dont have to be removed....lucky me i guess
I had two of mine taken out. I was fortunate that they were not impacted just decayed. They shot me up with a bunch of novacaine and the grinding noise was terrible when they came out but no pain afterwards. I didn't need the pain pills that were prescribed for me.
Some extractions are relatively simple -- like this one. Some aren't -- like mine. All 4 impacted. General anesthesia. All 4 teeth chiseled to pieces. Felt like I had been beaten up afterwards. Ate french fries and milkshakes for a long time afterwards.
Looks as if these guys do a good job. I am a big fan of sedation dentistry for those who need it. This was a very informative and interesting look at the practice. Great vid!
yeah, it's weird, shove a needle in my arm and say "this should circulate in 20 seconds) next thing you know cant keep my eyes open, then I wake up with guaze in my mouth
Age plays a HUGE factor in terms of recovery and discomfort. Good health does play a role but AGE is the main factor. Get them out while you are in your early 20's if needed.
@tyklug2013 your wisdom teeth probabley weren't growing sideways like a lot of peoples, When i got mine taken out i had all 4 of them removed and they were all in the gums and sideways i looked like a chipmunk for like 2 weeks
@terrellp993 I got all four of mine removed back when I was in the 9th grade. It wasn't that bad. There was some pain afterwords though. =p I was pretty much knocked out the entire time. I do remember being conscious during the surgery one or two times. The pills they give you knock you out so much, you don't care what's going on. =p
@terrellp993 Dont be scared. I got mine removed, (I was given meds to be knocked out)... All I could remember was them slapping my face like, "Hey! Open your mouth a litttlllee wider!" lol
All you have to do is ice your cheeks afterwards, (continously until your fully healed) and take your pain killers. If you do that, then all you will feel is sore-ness, and that it manage-able.
Oh and do not drink through a straw while healing. Air pockets under the stitches is bad.
I had to be sedated because the injections don't seem to work, but I had some brief memory when they put me down of them giving me the needles. But I still had a bad reaction and slept the whole day afterwards, waking periodically to throw up. But the next day I seemed to be fine, still slept though. I miss my wisdom teeth >:c
Cool video. I'm getting my wisdom tooth removed tomorrow morning, I heard the pain and swelling is worst when you are older, hope I'm not that old, I'm 25 y/o.
I Got Mine Pulled About 3.5 Hrs Ago. I Had GA W/ An IV. Woke Up &; Didn't Know Where I Was But I Was Crying. Lol. I'm 18. Can't Feel My Tongue / Lower Lip. Brushed My Teeth &; Had Some Applesauce &; Hopefully I Won't Need The Lortabs Later! (:

i have to get mine pulled next week :(
razerheartbeat12 2 weeks ago
@razerheartbeat12 Get a script for some painkillers afterwards. I only had the tops pulled after they already came in because they started to shift outward and chew on my cheek making eating a pain. The removal was great, no real pain or anything. But as soon as the shots wore off, I was miserable. It wasn't a sharp pain, but it is more like a constant headache. I can deal with sharp pains that don't last long just fine. But dull pain that goes on for hours kills me. Get drugs.

I had two of mine taken out. I was fortunate that they were not impacted just decayed. They shot me up with a bunch of novacaine and the grinding noise was terrible when they came out but no pain afterwards. I didn't need the pain pills that were prescribed for me.

glory4life8 3 weeks ago
@glory4life8 how did it go??
MISSDENISE101 1 week ago
Some extractions are relatively simple -- like this one. Some aren't -- like mine. All 4 impacted. General anesthesia. All 4 teeth chiseled to pieces. Felt like I had been beaten up afterwards. Ate french fries and milkshakes for a long time afterwards.
Looks as if these guys do a good job. I am a big fan of sedation dentistry for those who need it. This was a very informative and interesting look at the practice. Great vid!

Age plays a HUGE factor in terms of recovery and discomfort. Good health does play a role but AGE is the main factor. Get them out while you are in your early 20's if needed.
