double pedal is a further extension of your playing ability--a person using one does not mean they can't play a single... It means they've found a way to play the part easier, maybe faster and more efficiently. It's like telling a guitar player he can't use all 4 fingers on the fret board and that if his picking hand ever goes to the fretboard he's cheating--which we all know is crap. -I don't care if he tapes a mallet to his head to hit a gong behind him if it sounds great...

thomas lang and other great drummers use the double pedal for exploration not just to mask singles.

i thing the double pedal still require control so its not cheating, its like comparing a 4 piece against a standard 5 piece or a 3set cymbol againt a 6 set or single hi-hat and snare against a double hit-hat and snare set up. it just for greater flexibilty. what do u guyz say

Is it cheating when you use a double pedal? thought it was a added instrument to further explore greater possibilites with the kick drum. i agree if a cat just use the double pedal only to pass off singles to sound as doubles then thats his limitation.

Those are not my drums for one.. And a double bass drum pedal is cool man nothing wrong just dont use it to cheat on stuff you can really play with one if you just apply your self to practice.. every one knows i dont need a double pedal. its just alot of fun to mess with.. peace..

He uses a double pedal, you can see the light reflect off of the bar that connects to the main pedal.

BUT THE POINT IS

What is the big deal? He can play the set left or right handed. Look up his shedd with Jonathan davis, you will see his switch feet because he was playing with a single pedal.
