Well, Masum---it's not Jerome KHAN---it's "KERN" !!! Christ Almighty!!!
Gleason's album photos were always the same . . . low-rent male fantasy . . . lonely, big-busted gal at the bar . . . buy her one more . . . and you're IN LIKE FLYNN!!!
And if you're old enough to know who FLYNN was . . . then you shoud be in bed by now---with your Ovaltine---getting your rest---ALONE!!!
And if you also know what Ovaltine is . . . you're REALLY A GEEZER!!!
Memories I have as a child, sitting at the Dinner table, listening to Jackie Gleason albums in the background..... Thank you for posting. RIP Jackie..you are the best.
What a great arrangement!! This was the Gleason sound! Not bad for a guy who could not read a single note. It's unfortunate this music is long gone and almost forgotten.
The best music! I was born in 63. I have an old soul! Love Fibber Magee and Molly,The Goldbergs and music from 1930s-early 60s. Favorite movies are b/w..ahhh. Here's looking at you kid!
This is 1 of my favoritte albums and guess how old I was when I bought it at a thrift shop? Only 10- back in the early 80s. To this day I still love every song. Bobby shows a lot of feeling in his music that lasts for an eternity.
Every song on this album is an absolute gem. It is a shame that such music is ignored by most young people today. Musicians of today could learn a lot from these recordings. Thanks for bringing such quality music to the public.
Thanks for posting this song. It is song from our great American composer of "ShowBoat" fame, the remarkable Jerome Kern. You would be surprised how many beautiful all-time great melodies are from this one composer. See his biographical movie "As the Clouds roll by" on DVD. Amore' Chicago
Woody Allen used a Gleason-Hackett album all through "Hollywood Ending." The closing "Serenade in Blue" is as great as this particular style gets. Hackett was Irish from Providence, RI, in case you were interested. Everyone adored him there.
My Dad has this album in his album collection ....Jackie Gleason and Henery Mancini....Man! these guys know how to play some beautifull music. This song I remember when I was just 8 or 9 yrs old!...and it was beautifull then! ...Thanks for the good taste on this song! Hopefully this music will NEVER DIE!!!
This is Great Music! It really soothes the soul and lets you dream!
