  • Мне нравится!

  • @SMILEALENKA Спасибо! :-D

  • Thanks for taking us on the journey!

I asked Santa for one in red in exchange for helping pedal deliver it myself :)

  • @bonzabeautymate Glad you enjoyed! :)

  • Has cycling picked up in australia since cadel evans won the tour?

  • @Gromitdog1 Nope... a few more people out on a Saturday on brand new bikes but that's the only time they're used...

  • 1977trikle is a typical what I call car major bike minor. They bitch about what cyclists do and then try to justify it by saying they also ride a bike. However they see cars as the primary mode of transport and only occasionally ride a bike, usually only for recreation. They also cannot see that a > 1 ton car is far more dangerous then a bike, and blame cyclists but never mention the real danger from cars and how it effects everyone.

  • do you have to get registration and all that baloney ? or can you just buy one grab a helmet and hit the streets?

  • @BullDog8391 Nope. It's a bicycle. You need a polystyrene hat in Australia by law but otherwise that's it.

  • @nitramluap sweet bro, be getting one next year sometime. i cant find anybody that sells them!!! could u give me a manafacturer link?

  • @BullDog8391 sinnerbikes (.) com is where I bought mine - direct from the guys that make it. It was super simple. Freight to Australia was about $1200 (air) and customs charges/tax was about another $1000. With the exchange rate at the moment it is even cheaper then when I bought mine! :)

  • Loved it Paul. But not '77's comments. Downhill speeds look quite amazing. Just comparing to what I do on fixed gear: sometimes don't get below 30kph up Gladstone and can near 70kph down Dornoch - used to do mid-50s for the L-hander at the bottom of Dornoch when I had a geared bike. It looks wonderful for flats and downhills but very slow for any hill where you can't rely on the rollercoaster effect. You're not dripping in sweat. How prone to rolling over and how $much?

  • @markwlee1958 Thanks for the comments, Mark. I might not look like I'm dripping in sweat but up those hills, in our humid summers, I certainly am! Once moving at a decent pace the airflow keeps me dry. Hills certainly are harder work but it just helps build the legs ;)

As for the rolling: I've not rolled it yet although I have fully unloaded an inside wheel a few times. It is easy to 'read' as you first feel the CoG shifting, then the suspension lifting fully - plenty of feedback really.

  • Good job! Wonder how it would ride around hilly Hobart in winter...

  • @ahkl77 You could always get one with electric assist if it is *really* hilly! :)

  • have you ever thought about putting electrical assistance on this? p.s. really awesome bike!!!!!!

  • @redtiger898 Thanks! No, I wanted to keep this particular bike as pedal assist only - mainly for simplicity & maintenance. I do have an electric assist bike though (a Gazelle Innergy) which is my 'go everywhere transport bike' but the Mango I've left as a purely human powered vehicle. For some people the electric assist might be helpful (very hilly, not as strong, elderly) so it certainly has its place. Cheers.

  • I totally enjoyed that video, felt like I was in drivers seat.

  • @0urGaia Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed the ride!

  • @scooterandskaterkids No, my legs never hit the body no matter how hard I pedal. The seat is fully adjustable (as is the bottom bracket) - something you set up when it arrives. Once it is set up it really is just for me - or someone with similar proportions to me.

  • Dornoch Tce looked a bit of a struggle. It would have flown down the Corso

  • @laycle It's not too bad, just slow going as the bike is heavy compared to a road bike - but I like that anyway. I get more of a workout and when I DO ride my road bike, it's like I'm flying up the hills! :)

  • hi there just wondering would it be possible to build a velomobile out of a regular bicycle

  • @grovestreetninja I'm sure you could if you had the skills - or knew someone that does. You'd probably want to use a recumbent trike as a starting point.

  • I Enjoyed looking at your video. Nice ride, very nice recording quality! Much different from riding a velomobile in the Netherlands - no hills around here LOL

  • @pe2erwin Thanks. Maybe not many hills in NL but you have plenty of wind and from what I've heard it's always a headwind ;)

  • I bet the mango cost a pretty penny.

It is good to see someone riding a velo here in Australia.

    Does it get hot though?

Do some people think that it is not a Human Powered Vehicle, and is instead a car, while you are on bike tracks?

  • @KrunchyJD I think most cyclists think I have a motor onboard (which I don't!) and car drivers, I think, believe I'm either pedal or solar (!) powered... Because of its size (ie. small cf a car) it appears to be going much, much faster than it actually is. When I'm cruising along at 40km/h it looks like I'm flying but it is an illusion.

  • Awesome work! I particularly liked the part where you berate car drivers for touting road rules yet on several occasions you failed to indicate a left hand turn (11:55), make a left hand turn from right hand lane (12:05) or give way at the round about (12:23). Hello pot the kettle is calling.

And we wonder why motorists get annoyed at us?

  • @1977trickle

    Hmm... Allow me to rebut:

11:55 - I indicated all turns - the Mango has indicator lights.

12:05 - It was a left turn from the right side of the road, not right-hand lane and I indicated appropriately - all legal - as was my speed

12:23 - Nothing to give way to; no cars, no bikes, nothing

If you can't see the difference between what I'm doing and that 1.5t car driving 100km/h in a 60km/h zone, on the wrong side of the road and not indicating then I hope you don't drive a car...

  • @nitramluap Sorry champ, didn't know your go kart came fitted with indicators. I apologize.

  • @nitramluap

12:05 Sorry, explain to me how it is legal to make a left hand turn (with an indicator) from the right side of the road, you crossed into the on coming lane to make a left hand turn. See the gold Holden, the Blue on white VW? either they ( and ALL the other cars parked) have failed to park parallel or you are making a left turn from a right hand lane. If you needed to take your "racing line" to make the corner then I suggest you have failed to drive with due care, check your speed.

  • @1977trickle

If it were a single/double unbroken line then, sure, it would have been illegal. It also technically wasn't a left-hand turn - the road was continuous, it just happened to turn left 90 degrees (again, trucks do this regularly - it's not illegal if you indicate your intentions). I was back on my side of the road before the corner as you can see... and speed? My speed was 40km/h there (the camera FOV just makes it look fast) - the limit is 50km/h.

  • @nitramluap

12:23 Give way means- slow down and, if necessary, stop to

avoid a collision. You most certainly do not look to have washed any speed off. You even cut through the chevrons on your "racing line". Check your speed, and TORUM for that matter.

  • @1977trickle I'm flattered that you are paying so much attention. I actually didn't break any laws as I did slow down (it doesn't say how much in the TORUM, which I know better than you think) and I could see at least 200m down the road to the right (which you can't see on that film). May I suggest you stake out this roundabout every morning so you can see every other bicycle do the same... and cars & particularly those pesky garbage trucks who always cross the chevrons when turning.

  • @nitramluap

Your kart has a LIDAR on board?

The bozo in the white corolla deserves a bollocking more then anyone!

Kettle, you need to chill out. I drive and I ride. I'm not some commuting traffic recording zealot that looks for incidents to post here and on cycling forums.

Just calling it how it is.

  • @1977trickle You can work out how fast it's going by the time it takes to traverse a known distance (ie. buildings, etc). It was travelling between 90-100km/h - I can't be more precise, but feel free to do the calculations.

I commute on an upright Dutch bike at about 15km/h. This was not a commute and I wasn't filming in case of incidents. It just so happens that that car was caught on film. I have better things to do than take note of every rule infringement by cars/bicycles/pedestrians.

  • @1977trickle You do seem to be an anti-cycling zealot, though. I suggest you take a read of TRL549, driver's perceptions of cyclists. It describes drivers like you basically treating cyclists with cycle-racism. It's a free download.

  • @1977trickle There is some huge differences between cars and bikes, namely the weight and the damage they do to people if they hit them. Motorists get annoyed at bike riders primarily because they (the motorists) are usually W&%kers. You cannot compare a bicycle to a car. In my experience I have seen some incidents where a cyclist did something wrong, but it is far more often when a motorist uses their 1 tonne plus vehicle as a weapon to intimidate cyclists. Stop appologizing for idiot motorists

  • What a great video! I did not expect to watch all fifteen minutes of it, but I'm glad I did. Beautiful country and some great roads. I chuckled at the 50 on the road surface on the long downhill, (10:30) as I'd probably be reaching double that in my WAW. Too flat here in Florida for those speeds which made watching your ride that much more enjoyable.

  • @freddotu Thanks for the comments. Once we've cleaned up here from these terrible floods I'll film some more. The Mango was high and dry in the bedroom! :)

  • That was Absolutly Brilliant! Keep up the great work. I'm going to share your video on Facebook.

  • @MewFushisDad Thanks! I'll post more in the future for sure!

  • Love the view over your shoulder. thanks for letting us ride along. I know you said that traffic is a lot heavier on weekdays, but it seems like you could ride the lanes safer with the mango than a standard bike. Do you ever commute or use the mango for pure transportation, or just recreational riding?

  • @dregerclock I think in a Mango riding in the car lane is much easier - maybe not uphill but downhill I'm in nobody's way - in fact, the cars are in my way! It's very visible and I've not had any cars come too close.

I've only had the Mango for a week. I normally commute (and everything else - I barely drive anymore) on a Gazelle Dutch Bike which is fabulous. I'll try the Mango for the commute soon but I need to find a safe place to lock it up. It is my sportscar :)

  • @nitramluap - very cool - I ride a trike to work... 2 or 3 times a week...

Someday, if and when I can afford one, I am sure I would love to have a velomobile!

  • @dregerclock I'm surprised there aren't more trikes around here - they are few and far between... This is the first recumbant I've ever ridden - and I love it! So comfortable.

  • Excellent video.

  • @CellCoachCom Thanks Jeff.
