  • Hi there! Great cage setup you have, I am looking to get one of those ferret nation cages for my fuzzies soon too, they seem great! Just a quick comment, I have heard that the hanging water bottles are not the best for ferrets because they have to strain their necks to be able to drink them and the metal tip is not designed for their teeth, etc. I don't know if it actually makes a difference, but in any case you also have the regular water bowl.

  • @AsparagusClan It's a great cage, and I think you'll like it. As for the water, I have to hanging bottles and one dish on the floor. My ferrets really like the one on the floor, but seem to prefer it because they can bath in it haha they probably drink out of it 50% of the time. I think having both is a good choice. The bottle stay clean because they can't put their dirty paws in the water.

  • So i just got my ferret yesterday and i have the ferret nation cage and i used your idea and made my own litter box and she just plays in it and makes a huge mess! then uses the bathroom beside it or on another level on her blanket...do you have any suggestions for litter box training?? PLEASE HELP! lol

  • @helenavill yeah, sounds like your ferret needs a little help learning about the litter box lol - don't worry your little fuzzy will learn it just takes time. one thing you can try is picking up the potty and placing it into the back corner of the box - that way the litter box smells like a bathroom. if your ferret is young, it will just take time, but believe me, eventually it will start using it. also, my ferrets always play in the litter when I first put it in the box - good luck!

  • @DudesFerret lmao!! Yea it is impossible >.< haha

  • @Pandioats5 LOL

  • How can I train my ferret to wear clothes? Lol

  • @Pandioats5 haha yeah right - good luck with that =D

  • @Pandioats5

Ferrets HATE wearing clothes. They are built to wiggle out of tight spaces so they wiggle out of any clothing item you try to force them into. It'snot a nice ting thing to do to your fuzzy or your dog or your little kids either.

  • Such a great cage! I love the idea with the tube. I'm getting my ferret tomorrow :) I've been researching and watching ferret videos for days! haha. Is there any toys you would recommend? I've got a few suggestions from videos and ferret web pages, but I'd like to here you're recommendations :)

  • @kazekageKLUHH I"m happy to hear you'll be getting a ferret soon! I'm sure you'll have a lot of fun. As for toys, I don't buy any anymore because my ferrets have really short attention spans, and they tend to only play with toys for a short time befor they get move on to something else. They love plastic shopping bags, carpets they can tunnel under, very tough rubber chews that taste like chicken, and a few cat toys... if I were you I would resit the urge to spend =-) lol

  • @DudesFerret Oh really? Well thanks so much for letting me know! I probably would've spent too much money on toys and he probably wouldn't even play with them xD I spoil my beardie and degus too much LOL. I will just buy a couple cheaper toys for him and avoid the fancier more expensive stuff. But thanks a lot for the comment. I'll definitely pick that stuff up. Your ferrets seem very happy and healthy so I would trust you :)

  • The only problem i have with this cage is the price. Im planning on getting on for my chinchillas, but they cost around $220-$250and thats too much

  • @hamster130 yeah, unfortunatly it is exspensive, but I'm sur your chinchillas will like their new home =D

  • @hamster130 Ebay has them for cheaper

  • i love your set up!! you are so creative! i just bought a ferret nation cage today and am getting my new ferret on the weekend!! i am for sure going to use your idea with the fun tube!! they will love that lol and where did you get the carpet for the ramps also a great idea so it's softer on their feet! did you make it or can you buy those? Thanks!!

  • @helenavill glad to hear you're gettting your ferret soon! as for the carpet on the ramps, it actually came with the cage =-) I'm sure you can probably buy them but I've not looked into it. hopefully you'll have some included with your cage already =)

  • This is an awesome cage, but don't buy from amazon. It's more expensive there. Go to ferret.com where it costs nearly $100 less!

  • @nitemarebydesign that's a great deal

  • @SilentMoonGlow very cool! I think you'll like it =)

  • Won't using tape cause a blockage if they chew it up and swallow it? Just wondering, I think there is a better way.

  • @cbrilins yes - that most def could happen.. that's why I remove any tape that they want to chew.. anything that's in my cage now they do not chew at all. if and when I need tape I watch them to see if they start to chew on it.. if they do, I remove it immediatly. if they sniff it and then pay no more attention to it I can safely leave it in there. but you are right - there may be better wats =-)

  • How mutch did the ferrets codt? Where did you get them?

  • @dj201199 i paid 50-100 per ferret.. one came from a friend and two from a pet store

  • Please be very careful using tape. You never know when a ferret will decide to chew it and ingest it. This can cause a blockage and lead to surgery or death. If you use zip ties that are very tight with the connection on the outside of the cage you will have less chance of injury. Also, you can buy bowls that hook to the side of the cage so you don't have to tape it to the shelf. Love them and enjoy them! Rock on!

  • @franchesdun very true - I've eliminated most all tape in the cage some time ago, what's left isn't chewed on - never a good thing to have a blockage =D

  • is there a limit to how many ferrets could live in that cage?

  • @omfgitsmelly I'm sure there is... I would feel comfortable with 4 or 5 in there

  • what do u use for putting the fabric on the ramps?

  • @randyorton707 the fabric I used was actually included with this cage when I bought it... I just slipped it on... maybe it's cotton - not sure

  • is it good for 2 ferrets?

  • @randyorton707 I have three in mine, and it could hold more =D

  • @DudesFerret k thanks!

  • And the single for 185

  • Never mind I found the same as in the video but it costs 300 pounds!

  • Meant to say don't instead of dong ^_^

  • If I get a ferret I'd get this cage in the single version but the only thing is that I'm in the UK and they dong ship it over seas as far as I know. Do you know anywhere that ships it at reasonable prices, and does it come it a flat packed box?

  • i bought that exact same cage and i love it :D it's so huge i can sit in the bottom floor and close the door, everyone should get one theyre great :D

  • @krumpll agree! =-)

  • I just went to petsmart and saw a cute little farret and it was so playful and nice even my dad likes it now now i just have mom to go

  • @Ethanatencio haha yeah, they are so cute. hopefully your mom will like it =-)

  • did they take to the litterbox right away? or you had to train them?

  • @krumpll they figured it out quickly - which I'm glad about =D

  • You know what suck my parents will let me buy a couple of fricken bunnies but not a ferret. They think ferrets are soooooo bad uggg

  • @Ethanatencio that's too bad.. ferrets are so cute - I think anyway lol

  • I really want to get some ferrets but my parents say they really stink and that they are really dangerouse is this true?

  • @Ethanatencio no and no... they aren't dangerous at all.. at least not the ones I've ever seen... and they don't really stink all the much. best of luck trying to get yourself a ferret =-)

  • What kind of material is the black tube you used to replace the noisy metal dryer vent and where did you get it?

  • @veeezful I purchased it at Lowes - it's basically a very hard plastic water drain hose

  • @DudesFerret Thanks! I rescued two ferrets who I'd like to give the run of my apartment, but it turns out they've got some stomach illness and it will be impossible to begin litter box training in earnest until we get it under control. Vet has ruled out anything serious, but until their tummies are calmer they have to stay in the cage when I'm at work. I'd like to make it as much fun as possible and I like how you have rigged up that piping. Very creative. I bet Slinky and Squirt enjoy it.

  • @veeezful I know how it goes with the upset tummies - it's no fun. I hope your little fuzzies get to feeling better soon =-)

  • so much water! oh god i need to PEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @Determinatepieify believe me he does! lol

  • i love that you said doobleedoo, are you a shaytards fan? :)

  • @summerfae yeah I'm a fan of the shaytards lol

  • I use Zip Ties to hold things in place rather than tape.. Tape can be chewed and ingested.

  • @OKCNightcrawler that's an excellent idea! I've currently removed most all the tape because I got a new ferret and he's a chewer. Thanks for sharing =-)

  • Fort hood chaged the rules so we had to get rid of our ferrets.

  • @shatterstar101 that too bad =(

  • can they drink regular out-of-the-faucet water?

  • @ToriDissedYurMom yes they can drink regular water - but I give mine filtered water =-)

  • i love ferrets but i wish they didn't smell so bad:(

  • @ouchh100 they don't really smell - at least not the ones you buy from pet stores, because they have all been fixed and had there scent gland removed.. the smell that remains is a very slight odor that comes from the oil on the hair =-)

  • @DudesFerret thnx maybe that was the problem with my ferrets because i got them from a breeder! btw your ferrets are so cute i watched your videos like 10 times now:D

  • @ouchh100 thanks so much for watching all my videos! I really appreciate it =D

  • how do you put the add on on the ferret nation cage signal unit

  • @amazingcitidude1234 I'm actually not sure - mine came this way

  • I'm only planning on one ferret in the future is a "ferret nation single cage" okay?

  • @AcidfartProductions I would think so - the nice things about these cages is that you can add levels as you need them =)

  • @DudesFerret i have that cage for my ferrets

  • @cloneboyjb it's a good one xD

  • Where do you get that water container???

  • @cookiemonster5091 I think I bought it at Walmart - I was trying to find another one, but was unable to locate it.. so I'm not sure if they still carry it or not

  • i really like the ferret nation cages but im a broke ass.i saved some dough and got a fiesty ferret home.it's a little bit smaller and it only has a single door per floor.

  • @1320gearhead at least you bought the best cage you could afford =-) I'm sure your fuzzies enjoy it

  • @1320gearhead I actually just sectioned off an entire portion of my room plus one of my two closets, using those small animal exercise pens. I have some custom build layers for her to climb through in the closet. Gives her plenty of room to roam about. I've also ferret-proofed my room so that while I'm home I can close the door and open the cage to let her out.

  • @1320gearhead all total I don't believe I spent more than maybe 100 bucks, and truthfully I could probably hold 4 ferrets easily in it.

  • Nice set up... but I would use shower curtain hangers for the litter box and the tubes. I know someone who had a ferret that died cause it ate a piece of electrical tape and got a blockage.

I have 2 FN142's that I modified and turned them into a double wide ferret nation. But I also have 8 ferrets. They have tubes running through it and I also hung up a pair of old jeans for them to play in.

  • @sheriferretz Wow! a double cage sounds very cool indeed. You offered some good advice. Thanks so much for watching and leaving the insightful comment =)

  • Comment removed

  • thumbs up if you only change water bottle when its empty

  • @criadochris123 lol - should be changing it much more frequently =-)

  • @DudesFerret hey i just baught a baby ferret and he bites pretty hard anyway that i can let um know not to bite me ??

  • @DudesFerret ohh and the black tube in the cage is cool the way you did it i liked it alot so i attached mine the same way good ideas you have !

  • I have been wanting a FN or a CN for my rats. Their sturdy cages, and work really well for litter trained ferrets/rats if you use fleece bedding... I'm just too poor to afford one right now. :(

  • @RoscoTheRat I've been very happy with this cage - and we recently switched to all fleece =-)

  • @DudesFerret I have a super pet and a home made cage for the rats right now (I don't have ferrets at the moment, but they will be using fleece too when I adopt a pair), the rats are litter trained and I use fleece bedding. It works so well with animal "stinks" and their much cleaner I think.

  • Check for a ferret shelter near you or your local animal shelters. Unfortunately, there are many that people discard once they realize that they aren't like hamsters. These ferrets need a good home if your willing to provide it. I've bought 2, then rescued 3 and they were all wonderful!

  • @rozryan37 Very good advice - I've been checking locally for a ferret to adopt =-)

  • Where did you get your ferrets????

  • @cookiemonster5091 one was adopted from a pet store - he had been previously owned by a truck driver, and the driver didn't want him anymore so he dropped him off at the store

the second one we adopted from a friend of the family =-)

  • Ferret. com has it for only $99 dollars:)

  • @Muffinrawrcp that's a great buy!

  • @roxypuppy

The ferret nation is not great for rats, you need the CRITTER nation cage, it's for rats and stuff.

  • @SnakePIissken Rats can use FN, just you have to make sure they can't fir out of it. People usually either mesh it or use it for their boy rats.

  • ima get it for my bunny!

  • is this a good cage for rats?

  • @roxypuppy334 I'm not sure - I've never owned rats and am not sure about the size holes they can crawl through. they may be able to squeeze the the bars. you may be able to go on amazon and read some reviews and see if there are any rat owners using this =-)

  • @roxypuppy334 This is best for rats! The bars must be atlest 1/2 wide and no bigger! This is what Im getting for x-mas along with 3 rats!!!

  • Man, cool cage...

  • @DudesFerret how much did the cage and supplies cost you please reply

  • @angelbeast13 the cage was around $200, litter box $8, bedding $40, hanging cube $15, and other things

  • where did you get the ramp covers from?

  • @97hollster they actually come with the cage =-)

  • How many ferrets would you guess you could keep in your cage?

  • @tippy400 five or six - but I personally wouldn't keep more than 3. I like for them to have a lot of space.

  • @tippy400 :P Np man, you seem to be one of the few that knows what hes talking about. But yeah, I'm planning on getting another ferret soon where I'm starting full time work and cant stay home with her obviously; so she needs someone to play with :P

  • My cage isnt as big as that but I got the metal tube thingy from your first cage video and i was wondering if you worried about your fuzzies eating the tape? cus im worried mine will cus he has nibbled on it a few times T_T

  • @ElieMatthews No, I'm not worried about them eating the tape - they do like to chew it but I've never seen them actually eat it.

  • @DudesFerret Ok cus i saw mine chew on it and i was just worried about him eating it lol. i ended up taking the tube out cus he was scared to go down the down slope of it and wouldnt come down even if he had to go poopy lol >.<

  • where did u buy the water bowl at? i just got my third ferret and want to upgrade there whole cage.

  • @puertorican0192 I bought the water bowl at Walmart in the pet section - it is a food/watering dish for birds =-)

  • @DudesFerret *PHEW* that's a reliefe! Thanks a lot for that. I'll make sure to get as much towels and blankets and old jeans as possible :D

  • And this is Squirt...the lazy ferret. :)

  • @romans82 haha

  • I'm getting a ferret at the end of this year, and I was planning on getting the ferret nation cage scince its like really awesome but its a lot to clean...some people take it out to the backyard but I live in an apt. so I don't have one :/

  • @shanyahROX as long as you provide plenty of blankets and a large litter box you won't need to clean it all that much.. simply launder the bedding and change the litter. I've never done any cleaning except the occasional sanitizer wipe =-)

  • instead of tapping the food bowl, you can buy a crock dish that locks onto the cage

  • @puertorican0192 yep - I may invest in one of them one of these days =-)

  • sweet cage. i love your black tube set-up. it reminds me of the tubes kids go into at stuff like chuck-e-cheese or monkey joes or mcdonalds.

  • @m3kz1kn Thanks! glad you like it =-P

  • how did you make that litter box i tried to cut up a storage box like you litter box to make one but the one i used was to hard to cut because the plastic was to thick

  • @marco70041 good question - I used the saw blade on my leatherman tool

thanks for watching and leaving the comment

  • im so jealous of everyone because everyone has a ferret nation cage and i have a little one and everyone else has two or more ferrets and i only have one i think he gets lonely sometimes

  • @marco70041 these are great cages, and having two ferrets is def a lot of fun =-) maybe someday you'll be able to upgrade XP

  • Where did you find the big shelter on top where Squirt is sleeping? I've been looking for one like it and haven't come across anything decent.

  • @Robbins549 great question - I bought this item at Walmart. It's in the cat section and only cost a few dollars =-)

  • To bad ferrets are illegal in California :(

  • @herseys1 that is unfortunate. they make such great pets =-)

  • you can find the cages way cheaper at Petco.com or Petsmart.com

  • @hiphoplover24 I bought mine at petsmart and it was a little more pricey than if I had purchased at Amazon.. thanks for your recommendations =-)

  • the tubs are like freaking ferret heaven!! my ferret would love that!

  • @hiphoplover24 oh yeah, they def love the tunnels! =)

  • great video we have the same cage. one recommendation is on the food bowl we use one of the food bowls that actually attaches to the cage and we can adjust the height that frees up floor space for the ferrets to play.

  • @nucleartrout that's not a bad idea for the food dish, but for now the tape seems to be holding lol thanks so much for watching and leaving the comment =-P

  • Nice cage. I really want a ferret. This is probably the best cage set up i've seen.

  • @Kwheelz24 They are so much fun to have - they're such clowns lol

I'm glad you like the cage, and the setup. I plan on adding one more hiding place to it soon.

  • Ferret Nation, best ferret cage hands down. Your set up is the BEST I've ever seen. Honestly. I do have one small recommendation ... whenever you are able, take the terrycloth towels out. Ferrets have been known to get nails caught in the threads quite often and the outcome can be quite ugly. Baby blankets, recieving blankets, and fleece ..... things like that are the safest.

  • @wolfysluv Thanks so much. I'm really glad you like the set-up. You make a great recommendation about the towels. I think we'll replace them when we can. I have notice they like to scratch at them and the toe nails get hung. Thanks again my friend =)

  • @DudesFerret & @wolfysluv - if you visit a fabric store like JoAnn Fabrics you can buy remnant fabrics like fleece and flannels to use as bedding, the fuzzbutts nails don't get caught and they are very durable for washing. just a tip :)

  • @bibliophilicwoman that's a great idea - thanks for sharing

  • Thank you soo much for this!!! :D Lol! This really is the BEST cage ever for ferrets! Well, ferrets and chinchillas! Did you order this from the link you put in the description bar? I'm just curious because I'd like to order one for future ferrets someday. Lol. My parents won't let me get any so I have t wait like 4 years until I move out..:P I still want to be early prepared. :)

  • @petlover324 I'm glad you liked this video. I actually did not order mine from Amazon, but I wish I had because it's cheaper than buying in the local pet store. We bought our first ferret on the same day we bought the cage so we were not able to wait for the few days it would have taken to have one shipped. I'm really happy with the cage. I think it's best feature is the size, and the large doors =) Maybe you'll be able to get a ferret before then - good luck!

  • @DudesFerret LOVE this video. I favorited it! Lol. Oh I see. You should put the link from ferret . com . They have it for ever cheaper than amazon! Yeah, right. They would NEVERRRRR say yes. They absolutely hate ferrets! Pshhh. Lol. Thanks though! =D Keep up the great videos!

  • Man... these ferrets have such a tough life!!

  • @TMD121 No kidding... a little napping here, a little napping there, a little pooping in this corner over here, a little nibble on that, a bit of running through the tunnel, some stretching, and time for a nap again =)

  • @DudesFerret ...They will rule us... LOL.

  • @TMD121 sounds like a movie... Planet of The Ferrets

  • happy hump day it is also happy MOON DAY

I REALLY that YOU are having an SAFE and FUN week

  • @bearstick70 Happy week to you! Thanks =)

  • I want a ferret or a parrot, so its funny u have a parrot in ur ferret cage lol

  • @CJBountyHunter No parrots in the cage, only a parrot toy haha

  • @DudesFerret LOL

  • I am thinking of getting a ferret, probabaly wont- but I know that Amazon sells one story of it for only 100$ so ill be getting one of these!!!

  • @CJBountyHunter I think you'll really like the cage - I have no complaints at this time. Oh, if you happen to order from amazon, would you mind clicking on the link I have posted in the description box first... I get a small commission if you order something from Amazon after clicking on the link =) every little bit helps

  • Cool digs!

  • @HoneymoonCampers It's better than our apartment.. maybe the ferrets will let us move in with them.

  • Love your design for the cage ! Also, cute sleeping ferret is cute !

  • @legendariosoul Thank you... the little guy sleeping is Squirt and sleeping is one of his favorite things.

  • Your ferrets are very lucky!! 8-)

  • @TheBOsniper Thanks - they seem happy =)

  • The cage is nice. I want a big size of it to watch some people in it ^^ Also, you need to shave, friend! :)

  • @doggymien4o Shave?!?! - never haha - well I can't say never, more like whenever Heidi says to shave then I had better do it lol

  • @DudesFerret I see. So whenever Heidi says "it's time to shave", does it mean it is "business time"? :D

  • @doggymien4o LOLOLOL

  • LMAO I want to be a ferret too :) Look at that, they have their own penthouse and hangmats, tents, toys and drinkbottles and everything :D

  • @thelowbudgetcompany They've got it made for sure!

  • @DudesFerret But how did they manage that? :O

  • @thelowbudgetcompany Cuteness

  • @DudesFerret Well, I'm kind of cute ... when I'm asleep ... .o.O
