@ElectricJunta I highly doubt your lawn mower engine is gonna have the horse power to turn the generator fast enough to put out the kind of power required. Lenz law alone pretty much drops the effeciency on the generator to 50% and that is before counting other things like friction. So how about you try running off just the lawn mower engine first. And keep in mind once you add the generator you will be getting less than half that horse power out of the car.

@powerunlimited1 Most sealed lead acid batteries would be too large to fit inside the transformer's case. I think it is more likely that he has placed multiple alkaline batteries inside. They would not be able to run it for as long but certainly long enough for a demonstration like this.
Hate to break it to you guys but... That transformer has been hollowed out and is being used to store a battery. The rest of the circuitry is being used to increase the voltage output of that battery so that it can run the high voltage lightbulb. It will last long enough for a short demonstration like this one but I doubt it will run for more than 10-15 minutes at the absolute max.
All I need is 25 watts, feeding my battery bank 24-7

That means using them together to power a car is only 17.5% efficient at best. My guess is they hid some extra led acid bateries in the car. @ElectricJunta What you clearly do not understand is that the rate at which the eletric motor is using up the energy stored in the batery is faster than the rate than the lawn mower engine can produce it via the generator. This means that if you take a 2 hour drive you may have to run the engine for 6 hours to charge the battery back up. Which will end up using more fuel and it is not very convienient to have to wait for the recharge.

@ElectricJunta Oh the generator would be ine. It is the engine that would be the trouble. What you seem not to understand is that a generator has some serious resistance to it. Ever heard of lenz law? Basically the electricity being generated in the coils inside the generator also gives those coils a magnetic field which resists the movement of it's rotor. It can put out some serious resistance even at just 1 kw range.

@kurisu925 you lack the understanding of how an electric Generator works... so... An 8 HP 418cc engine runs a 6KW Generator full load(5KW) for 12 hrs. So if you understand the specs that I just gave you, understand that 1800Wattz is not even half of 5k Watts. understanding that I can use 5k Watts for 12 hrs (4Gal of Gas), how long can I drive my lets say electric car using 3000 Watts(with A/C on 15" subs blasting as I drive)? Lets just say its more then the 12 hr on 4 gals. get it yet?

@ElectricJunta I highly doubt your lawn mower engine is gonna have the horse power to turn the generator fast enough to put out the kind of power required. Lenz law alone pretty much drops the effeciency on the generator to 50% and that is before counting other things like friction. So how about you try running off just the lawn mower engine first. And keep in mind once you add the generator you will be getting less than half that horse power out of the car.

@powerunlimited1 Most sealed lead acid batteries would be too large to fit inside the transformer's case. I think it is more likely that he has placed multiple alkaline batteries inside. They would not be able to run it for as long but certainly long enough for a demonstration like this.

Hate to break it to you guys but... That transformer has been hollowed out and is being used to store a battery. The rest of the circuitry is being used to increase the voltage output of that battery so that it can run the high voltage lightbulb. It will last long enough for a short demonstration like this one but I doubt it will run for more than 10-15 minutes at the absolute max.

The patent office is nothing but a bunch of pencile pushers who's only job is to ensure they do not accidentally grant two patents for the same invention to two different people. So long as your invention has never been submitted by someone else before you they MUST grant you a patent for it. The invention does not even have to work...

@ElectricJunta By the way lawnmower engines are below 30% efficient, electric generators are below 50% efficient, and electric motors are also below 50% efficient. That means using them together to power a car is only 17.5% efficient at best. My guess is they hid some extra led acid bateries in the car. A few led acid batteries can run that car long enough to do a decent presentation before needing a recharge and It wouldn't be the first time such a trick has been used.

You very well may be able to run a car on a lawn mower engine depending on how large the engine is and how small the car is.

Why use the generator and motor when you could simply drive the car straight from the engine itself and not lose energy through the ineffeciency of the generator and motor? I was quite specific when I said the lawn mower engine is a bit less than 30% effecient and that using the 3 together was 17.5%.

Don't bother with the generator if you swap the engine as it will just needlessly reduce the effeciency.

@ElectricJunta What you clearly do not understand is that the rate at which the eletric motor is using up the energy stored in the batery is faster than the rate than the lawn mower engine can produce it via the generator. This means that if you take a 2 hour drive you may have to run the engine for 6 hours to charge the battery back up. Which will end up using more fuel and it is not very convienient to have to wait for the recharge.

@ElectricJunta Oh the generator would be ine. It is the engine that would be the trouble. What you seem not to understand is that a generator has some serious resistance to it. Ever heard of lenz law? Basically the electricity being generated in the coils inside the generator also gives those coils a magnetic field which resists the movement of it's rotor. It can put out some serious resistance even at just 1 kw range.

@ElectricJunta By the way nomatter how you set up the lawn mower engine in the car you really need to recognize the fact that you really won't have the horse power to do much beyond you'r daily commute to work and even then that is only if you do not have any hills to drive over. The battery is in the transformer,thats hollowed out,a small 12v lead/acid battery would power the light for hours.It seems to be built when there were few
dc to 120v ac inverters,the board looks home made.Hes other units could use laptop type batteries hidden in the .panels,hes lighting low voltage lamps in those ,ideal for a laptop battery.

Guys come on now... He says the two wires are going to that panel and then never even tries to explain why and you actually believe it? That panel is large enough to hide a small battery pack which along with the transformers and circuitry in the machine could easily power the light bulb and the magnet for the entire duration of the video and several minutes after. It is a well made prop but the placement of the hidden battery is poor he should have put it under the rest of the cuircuitry.

Okay people let's quess where the battery is. I am quessing behind the big plate. Although that big transformer if hollowed out can hold enough 9V batteries for the demostration. I personally would have the battery under the plate and run the power through a Switch Mode Power Supply to run the light. Although I can't think of one good reason for doing that.
