Let's say in a few months Machida gets the title shot, as of course the underdog, and wins.

What do you think that does to the UFC with a fairly unloved "boring" fighter with a small fanbase becoming champion of the most watched and most competitive weight class?

Machida's a great fighter, composed, very strategic, almost surgical in some of his fights, but I don't see him getting that fight just because of how much the UFC stands to lose if a relatively unknown becomes champion. Thoughts?

There were TWO polls on Sherdog and in both 60% voted for Machida being "entertaining" and "fun to watch" so he has a decent sized fan base at least. And I'm sure he converted many people with his dominant 1st rnd KO yesterday.

Dana has already started promoting Lyoto as the future best LHW and this KO win makes it even better.

Rashad vs Lyoto - undefeated Champion vs undefeated Challenger makes for a great fight to promote as well.

Lyoto will be champ by the end of 2009! War!

What a fantastic card the main event sells the PPV itself but no UFC gives us another main event level fight in Silva vs. Machida and a possible classic in Guida vs. Diaz as well as Fitch vs. Gono should be in the place of Bonner and Jon Jones but hey Stephan is the Ultimate Fighter guy... I wonder why Fitch only mad the undercard.... Dana can be a dick but meh

Bonner(dont care about dis fight,so im picking Bonner)
