  • Old school rock at its best, and they are still at it.

  • Great song to listen to for some night driving.

  • La finale sauve le show

  • Cette chanson est juste magnifique ! J'en ai la chair de poule

  • Ricky did part of freebird.

  • @bobmd13 i did? COOL!

  • These guys are so awesome! Still touring and still sound great! Saw them just this spring opening for the Molly Hatchett wannabees, and they blew them away. Their music sounds great without all the computer filtering that so-called musicians of today rely on.

  • What is it about this song that brings me to tears every time I hear it!! Such an intense feeling of grief sweeps over me.

  • hey I know how to play this song the same as blackfoot if anyone needs help or tabs :)

  • Luvin that guitar!

  • This is a great song !

  • there are alot of new bands trying to pose as southern rock in one of their genres but they can't match bands like skynyrd, allman, and blackfoot

  • They played this live at The Three Tuns, Gateshead, UK Thursday 7/7/11......proper band, playing proper music and totally kicked ass........fulfilled one of my 100 things to do before I die....Totally Awesome

  • one of the absolute greatest bon fire songs of all time...

  • AWESOME TUNE!!! I HAD FORGOTTEN JUST HOW GOOD THE GUYS ARE!

AHH THE DAYS BEFORE AUTOTUNE AND COMPUTERS TO HELP THE TALENTLESS TRASH PUT OUT THE CRAP THAT IS SUPPOSED TO BE MUSIC

  • My favorite song ever recorded. And I concurr, that whoever voted this down KNOWS NOTHING, including Mr. SuperTranced,...asshole you don't know what quality is.

  • shit terrible quality. downvote.

  • @SuperTrancend

what a shitbag... I guarantee that you listen to Drake and Owl City.. on purpose

  • they dont make music like this anymore.Classic southern rock and I agree anyone who doesn't like this can shove a Jim Beam bottle up their ass

  • i was trying to see if it inspired highway song by soad but it's totally different hehe nice song though

  • One of the best song i've heard. Nothing to add you just have to listen and enjoy every minute.

  • woooooohooo LOVE this tune thanks 4 sharing

  • 11 people have never awaken from a night of whiskey drinking in a strange motel in some strange town, and had this song come on the radio.....

  • ANYONE WHO DISLIKES DIS SONG CAN SHOVE A BEER CAN UP THIER ASS AND CALL IT A NIGHT.

  • @25FMPX Anyone that does not like this song more than likely does that voluntarily on a regular basis.

  • @25FMPX LMAO I heard that!!!

  • this is music

  • While I have to admit this was 1 of my top 10 most favorite songs while I was a teenager(still love it), I also think Henry Paul,Molly & Skynard,Outlaws & Marshall Tucker were all awesome. I happen to think Grey Ghost is my #1, maybe Simple Man or Dreams, maybe Tuesdays Gone. GD, you just can't pick any 1 southern rock song to be the best. I tip my glass to a lost generation that made some of the most IMPORTANT music (our generation) has ever produced. I'm just hoping that it wont be forgotten.

  • @Bonesnapperr Damn brother, That was right down the middle! STEEERIKE!

  • stop comparing things

  • Blackfoot is the best southern rock-band ever. This song is better than Freebird. So underrated..

  • every once in a while they would come down out of the mountains here in nc?? and play in charlotte, nc. as far as i could tell, all the original members performed and they kicked ass. they had an old primer painted, beat up "mini" school bus to carry their equipment. i saw them play live at amosis-sp? lol, amosis is owned by some idian dude(from india) and is well known around here for booking these great old RR bands. i'm ex. navy too, an "OS" stationed in charleston, sc (1986).

  • this song is amazing.. freebird is better.

  • Thanks for posting the song. Our band opened for Blackfoot when this song came out. The whole show is now a blur in my mind!!! LOL Also opened for Henry Paul and Johnny VanZant. These guys were the core of Southern Rock, as well as 38 Special, etc. Great memories.

  • great solo...

  • what a beautiful masterpiece

  • ThatVeteran,,,first thing is if your a true veteran,I thank you for your service!! second, god bless that you took the time to learn one of the all time greatest songs ever! I`m old schoool and good old southern rock and roll !!! First time seeing live was at Portsmouth Stadium.Molly Hatchett,Blackfoot,Delbert Mclinton, and Missouri,so freakin SWEEEEEEEEEET!

  • @djbosox as far as my Veteran status I started out working in the engine room on board the USS Independence CV62 as a Machinist Mate, during my first deployment during the Iranian hostage crisis back in 1979 I just had an old Acoustic Guitar a few spare strings and plenty of time on my hands. I was also blessed that I knew a few guys who could already play to show me what I was doing right or wrong. by the time I bought my first electric Guitar and a used amplifier I could already play it.

  • hop on a hog and crank this song...awesome ;)

  • these guys were always good live, seen them at charlotte motor speedway with sly and the family stone, they were amazing

  • LOL at the solo...I'd die trying to play the whole thing LOL.

  • If this does not move you, you must not have a soul!

  • @ruboneoff52 i totally agree with you

  • 8 dislikes ? LOL

  • Heard this song in the morning and was amazed by the solo. Now I'm here listening to the song, completely for the first time.

  • amazing guitar solo

  • When I play the solo of this song, I feel damn good :D

  • music played pure and clean buy guys who know how too!!!!

  • Θα ήθελα να ήξερα ΠΟΙΑ ΕΙΝΑΙ τα 6 ζώα που πάτησαν dislike!!!Ελεος δηλαδή.......

  • @Gus90N I could not have said it better myself, friend.

  • Great stuff right here! my band was lucky enough to open for Ricky & Blackfoot back in the day. Awesome band, and great guys. Ricky is truly a gem, and I am glad for his continued success!

  • i was blessed to see them in Vegas at some outta the way casino, in 2000 , before thunderfoot died... ther sho was incredible...i will always remember the band by "diary of a workin man"

  • I've always associated this song with my dad. I remember the many nights he'd play that as we shared a gyro and a Pepsi that we got from Zorba's. Still brings a smile to my face, those were the good times. Great song.

  • LOVE THIS!!! Thanks for sharing!

  • I was fortunate to be backstage with them in 81 at Sandy Creek Alabama. Took lotsof pictures, some of which are on my website at wwwdotfreeflightbanddotcom

  • Do they have any other slow beginning, fast end songs like this?

  • @ElRico2525 Listen to" Green gras and high tides" by the Outlaws!!

  • 99.7 the fox

  • I can't refrain from getting hard at 4:17

  • THESE GUYS ROCK. SAW THEM AT AN OUTDOOR CONCERT IN 79'.

  • Classic tune

  • I'll say this..Those southern boys love to jam :)

  • incredible song music just isn't this good anymore...

  • rock on an drive

  • rock on

  • intro is the bomb

  • If it was not for us so called old folk u would not even be here

  • if you have have attempted this..tell me you haven't broken a string at 6:00 to 6:04 and Ill say your not playing it right!

  • i don't care who you are or how much guitar experience you have ,just start laying down the licks at 4:24, its more beautifully pure than Free-bird my friends.

it took me three months of practice to do it justice, I cant count the strings I've broken ..I don't know what they call Music these days, but its not as pure as this riff.

Most of today's acts are just performance artists, not real musicians . this music wasn't washed through a computer to just sound good.

  • @thatVeteran Thats right, these guys were as good if not better than skynard. They were under rated.

  • Comment removed

  • @SaintzFan921 No, YOU'RE fucking retarded. Saints suck.

  • @SaintzFan921 why

  • @thatVeteran BlackFoot Stikes is one of my Favorite Albums!!Ricky Medlock lead singer & Guitarts..Was skynards Drummer when they were a garge band..He`s been With Skynard for the LAST 20 years as Lead guituist, Backing Voculs,,How I Wish They`d play a Blackfoot tune!!

  • @thatVeteran Well said, Most of today's acts are just corporate pawns that flash in the pan Beiber kid for one.

  • @thatVeteran Exactly! THIS song, my friends, owns any song Skynard ever done. And i like LS. Everything about this song is great, like a roller-coaster ride, when it picks up, and the solo kicks in.....it's what song structure is all about. I just cant get enough of the nice long guitar solo too.

  • @thatVeteran dude, right now i have a guitar in my hands, ive had one there since i was a child, im now 23 and ive been playing everyday since, i still cant do this justice, rickey medlocke is a genius. this is pure raw talent, in his vocals and guitar and just about nothing compares to it

  • @brentcz28 Rock on little brother!

  • @thatVeteran i agree man, todays music has ruined everything

  • @thatVeteran yea,,this is the first real guitar playing tune I learned,, I had smoke on the water,, Iron man and those easyones down OK,, but this was a little more advanced than those straight up bar cord tunes,, i played highway song over and over,, because I liked the way my fingers looked floating over the strings, and after a while it began to be music, smooth and deliberate, yet in a begginners reach... Its such agreat tune in many ways

  • @thatVeteran Listen to freebird with medlocke on guitar its amazing best version ever ! and the reason for that is Rick on guitar !

  • would love to hear you play...................

  • @thatVeteran ... I still love both.

  • @thatVeteran

Free bird is 8 minutes of repetition. This song is untouchable.

  • @thatVeteran let it flow bro.loved medlocks boys for30years.

  • @thatVeteran thats a 58 gibson explorer , just like allen collins of L.S. just what did you expect?

  • @thatVeteran i love you. at least someone expresses my feeling, lol.

  • @thatVeteran My friend, while I might agree with the last two statements, I must say without Free Bird, this song would not exist. You can hear many parts of that solo in this one. Both of them are fucking win, though! :D

  • i seen these guys in concert with nazareth a couple years ago blackfoot blew them away

  • @27falcor I envy you

  • this is a treasure , IM A FUCKING AMERICAN.....

  • love it

  • there are five people who are wrong here .. blackfoot rules..just listen to the guitar riff

  • old people

  • This is one of my all time favorites!!! LOVE this song; has very special meaning for me! You guys ROCK!

  • Hard Core !!!!!!!!

  • Does somebody know where I can find the complete tab/guitar pro. ?

I can't fin the complete solo, only the beginning.

One of the best song and solo ever!

  • I agree i dream of listening to this song while going 100 in my 67 chevelle when i get it done. Its got a ways to go but it will get there if im still alive to finish it.

  • They are really too good for us, but they still tour.

  • easily one of the best songs ever written

  • Saw Blackfoot last summer...they still kick ass!!!

  • Ricky cant deny his lynskyn past and:-))) one of the greatest rock songs for the road ever!!!!!

  • Greatest solo ever.

  • 70's hard swamp rock is the only real rock!.

  • Better solo than Freebird.

  • i saw these guys at a club, amasis?? sp? in charlotte, nc(1996). the guy that owns the club is indian, from the country India, i think.... anyway. ya know, to see people gather from all around charlotte, any culture or race and have a goog time is worth watching. there were allways people in the crowd that handled crowd control. no need to call the cops. they had one of those old mini school bus's to carry their equipment, it looked ragid. thats cool as hell.

  • High Way Song....

  • This song is great, it's GREATNESS. It is so profound that it speaks to THE SOUL.

    * * * * * Five stars.

  • this is the poor mans love song

  • love it!

  • actually its "another day another dabloon" even says so in the album slip.

  • Chocolate for the ears!

  • best solo in a song ever made( hands down ),such a good flow with a free spirit like quality! (to me)

  • i absoloutley loveee this song!!

  • now this is rock and roll at its best thanx for posting this classic tune!!!!!

  • one of the best ever

  • @astrobird396 thats right !!!

  • not a chance

  • @BigBossInc is a fucking retard!!!

  • @BigBossInc I guess the drugs these days must have ruined your ears . Maybe you don't realize that system of a down use computerize synthesizers to wash their music before it goes out through the speakers. Blackfoot never even tried to fool their fans like that. lots of "performance artists these days do this. many fans these day also play guitar hero and couldn't play even a simple song on a "real guitar" its basically like today's Musicians today they go through the motions.

  • @thatVeteran Oh I get it, anyone who doesn't have the same opinion as you is automatically wrong. Well guess what, I'm an American, and in America we have this thing called FREE SPEECH, something that you as a Veteran should be well aware of. Trying to snuff me because of my right makes you no better than those Communist Nazi fucks that try to oppress this great nation on a daily basis. I think Blackfoot falls short and if you don't like it, then you can go straight to China! God Bless America!

  • @BigBossInc OK you do have every right to disagree with me that is true. However I am a "combat wounded Veteran" so I shed blood to insure that right is and was secured for all Americans.

My statement still stands..I happen to just like this song..and I can play it..been paid to play it..I just wish I could do the vocals while I was playing it. have you ever tried to play it?Its a real hand full..so please don't lecture me

about Freedom,I risked my life more than once/seen friends die .

  • This was "Real" Rock and Roll!!!!

  • One of the best songs ever.

  • this solo is so kick-ass. damnit son. i personally like the solo better then Freebird. agh, please dont shoot! lol. rock on!

  • Hit #26 in Billboard. God bless!

  • I saw Blackfoot at the Orpheum in Boston around 1982 ,they were backed up by an unknown rock/metal band from the UK....DEF LEOPARD !!! This song is better than Freebird, I agree STONY

  • Some of us have been this song. Some of us are this song. Some of us will be this song. That's why you can't explain why.

  • This song breaks my heart every time. I can't explain why.

  • This is so great! I can't believe it, just can't this is so beautiful, so great!

  • a great classic

  • I LOVE THIS SONGGGGGGG! DAME!

  • LOVE,LOVE, LOVE this damn song!!!! Makes me wanna be on a tour bus late at night gazing out the window, wondering when we'll reach our next venue.

  • One of the best ever ! Ricky Medlocke's vocals are superb and the guitar work brilliant, i love Freebird but this is a better track in my opinion, more melodic.

  • GREAT !

  • amazing song,

reminds me a lot of free bird with the upbeat ending solo

  • I've lost count of how many times I've played this. It's not loosing it's hold. I'm stoner from way back. This song brings back so many memories. Awesome song, awesome band. They just don't make music like they used to. I don't know how people can stand the new stuff. I know I'm probably old and stuck in my music. But damn listen to this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Awesome!

  • Southern Rock From U.S.A

    Yeah baby!!!

    It's true rock n' roll!

  • PS-- I dont know the band but everyone says they are great people--Larry G

  • One of the top 50 southern rock songs--and i dont really like southern rock--Great song I have been to their recording studio in Weddington NC----Great Band

  • fucking awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • So quit running your mouths, sorry, dicklickers, about things in which u have no clue

  • Little shit's need to recognize, when it comes to Southern Rock, it's the Allman Brothers Band, Skynard, Marshall Tucker Band, Blackfoot,& Molly Hatchet . I defitately left some folks out of that list but it covers the originator and sustainers of Southern Rock.

  • top 5 in souhern rock -kinda like a ghost you cant see but its there

  • i couldn't have said it better. He just starts getting into it showing his potential during the last few seconds of the song. I've never seen them live. I wonder if he ever prolonged the solo during a concert and really showed everyone what he could do.

  • the solo should have been longer...he was just really getting into it

  • This song makes you want to get up and moveeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!

  • To me that is the greatest guitar solo as far as recorded songs go. Why does the song fade out at the best part of the solo, which is the very end where the guitarist is simply picking really fast? I think its a better solo than the guitar solo in "free bird", and that solo is awesome itself.

  • As a kid, I used to go to my neighbor's garage where his band would cover this song. I thought it was their song for some time. I remember being in awe. This song brings back lots of memories.

  • follow me where i go.....damn song.

  • All you young guy's talk shit about Rickey,he was the "First"drummer for Skynard after all!!
