the dog is barking - so some of this mgiht not make sense....lol
i want to use the bamboo to trace over vintage drawings and digitize them without giving myself brainache with vectors and rosters and God knows what within Inkscape. Do you recommend it??
I don't really see the point in these tablets if you can't see the picture of the screen on the tablet. If it's just blank, then you're drawing blindly. Makes much more sense to just get a touchscreen monitor and draw directly on the monitor.
Hey SRV, I am planning to purchase the Wacom Bamboo Tablet online. I was looking for the cheapest price for it, and I saw on Amazon a seller has it for $60.99 plus $6.99 shipping. Do you think this is a good price for the tablet?
i have a wacom bamboo fun tablet but for some reason it does not install after youve gone through all the intructions and crap...i have absoloustly no idea why. my dad sais our computer does not have enough memory to install. is this true do you think because i'm still stuck using my mouse when i draw computer and digital comics. please reply!
@c0ddlefl0p depends what you want. If you want an inexpensive solution there's one from Wacom that sells in futureshop for only $79 or less, and it's actually a very nice product for pen input. 512 pressure levels, 5.6x3.4" writing area.
I don't know a lot about Wacom Bamboo tablet because I don't have it.
But this morning I used it for the first time (I always wanted to try that out)
And as far as I can remember you have to hold you pen a bit above the surface of the tablet to move and if you want to click you just have to touch the surface with your pen.
And that's a click.
If I would be wrong than someone correct me please but I'm pretty sure it was like that.
It will not need any batteries. The tablet gets its power from the USB port of the PC. Both the tablet and the pen are little radio transmitters. The tablet will send out radio-frequency bursts of electrical energy which will power the transmitter in the pen. The pen will then send a burst of energy back to the tablet and the antennas in the tablet are able to sense the direction from which the response burst was coming. This positional information is then converted into the pointer coordinates.
It all depends on what you're going to do with it. If you're serious about graphic arts, I would get the Intuos. The Bamboo will suffice for all the casual needs.
What casual needs? touch up can be done w/ a mouse if you zoom close enough. But it is a good substitution for a mouse. Damn it TSA, why didn't you steal that one? whyyyyy? lol...j/k.
The Bamboo is superb when use for gaming. Love it when you lost track of your original position (cause you lift your pen up?)
It is only good for one thing, maybe Wacom copy the design from those credit card processor? you know? b/c the tablet sign better than those thing.
wow total tech flashback..photoshop 7...i have the cs4 master suite which is like photoshop 12. And i just ordered one of these. its a newer style with the buttons on the left
Click on "all comments" and scroll to the bottom of the comments. It will answer your question more thoroughly. The quick answer is, "Yes, you can move the mouse without actually touching the...tablet thing...with the pen".
Heres a magical fact. I was bored today so I plugged my Bamboo into my PS3 turns out you can navigate through the PS3 with it. Yup the two pen buttons act as Triangle and the PSButton and you can scroll through the menu by moving the pen. Your move Xbox hehe
@gamegeek2107 right. cuz its been my dream for ages to use a pen to play xbox. the ps3 is obviously the better system! lol. i know this is a light hearted comment i'm responded to but i'm done hearing that one system is better the the other.
@philupmybucket I honestly believe both systems are just as good as each other, they both have there pro's and cons etc. I just wondered why a ps3 would be compatible with a tablet, and was merely stating that the PS3 is more "hardware" compatible! ^^
size of A5 papir.. or half the size of a normal printer papir.. but you can set the tablet to be as a mous.. if you feel the area is two small to fit your screen...
with a mous i meen, you can like move the pen 3 mm to the surface then move the way you want, lift it move it back en go up again... like with a mouse when you lift it to move... well hope you get the point :P
I heard that it's a little complicated, I will definetely buy a bamboo not a bamboo fun as it can be used for photoshop and also good for writing, the problem is that if you don't have Vista you won't be able to write :)
Dan, The regular Bamboo by Wacom does not come with any other software besides the start up stuff. But the Bamboo Fun comes with 3 other programs Including Photoshop CS3 Elements. I reccomend returning the Bamboo and going out to get the Bamboo Fun.
Simple question anyone could answer for me please? Does this work well with drawing in paintbrush and other simple programs? I am wondering about since it can be used as a mouse, will it draw or will it require you to be pressing a button while moving?
there are two. Wacom Bamboo and Wacom Bamboo Fun. U should get Wacom Bamboo it comes just wit the tablet and no other software. check out the main web. :3 maybe google?
lol i also wanna get a tablet for my anime/manga drawings.
Hey man, was just wondering like im planing on getting one of these for drawing is the bamboo fun better for drawing as on the website is says that this version that you have is more for office use, but for drawing in general how do you find it ? thanks
Hi ! I'm really interested in one of these tablets, and I've got a couple of questions for you:
I like to create animated movies and post them on youtube. (well, I haven't yet and id REALLY like too) Would the Wacom Bamboo be a good choice for me? If not, do you know of a inexpensive alternative tablet?
Yes, I've seen numerous animations from people that have used this tablet. There are larger sizes available from Wacom but remember that as the size goes up, so does the price.
I apologize for responding so late.. I definitely don't think its worth spending the extra money on software if you already have CS3. Photoshop is miles ahead of any software that'll come bundled. The inclusion of a mouse, however, may be tempting enough to spend the extra money on a Bamboo Fun assuming its not too much more.
If you need the MOUSE, then get the FUN version version that is one up from this one. You will basically be paying $30 for a mouse. I had/have graphire and never once used the mouse....I have a mouse already.....don't need a wireless one. What I would like to see Wacom do is give 2 pen's...they are easy to lose....LOLOL
i would like to get the tablet but i need to know how to use it for making videos. I want to make flash videos but i am unable to. Ive learned that the tablet will help you draw, but how do you get it to move? If anyone knows please tell me here or on my page, Thanks
Yes your can set them to any key combination. They will stay the same until you change them. Say you set one to "Ctrl + R" that button will always execute that function no matter what program until you change it.
Would have liked to have seen some footage of the pen actually being used to draw, rather than just showing it's ability to function as a mouse replacement.
I'm considering getting one of these as a first tablet, and wanted to know how it functioned as a drawing tool. For example, how the pressure sensitivity feels when using the brush tool in photoshop etc.
Fancy making a quick vid? Would really appreciate it! :)
no the tablet works great with my monitor. so far i've had no problems with the proportional differences between the two. I'll look into the intuos A5-wide though. the main reason i bought this was the $60 pricetag =P
Im really interested in these, though unfortunately Ive never had the chance to try one so im unsure. Just a couple questions:

ExcruciatingAnime 10 months ago
So the Bamboo's 'screen' is really more of a medium to interact with the computer (namely, for drawing and painting), right?
What I'm getting at is at first I thought that its screen lit up and you could draw on the tablet independently from the computer.
Can it do that?
If not, are there other tablets of the same value/low price which can?
Thanks.
