  • Or people, you can order your games online. Right now Gamestop is selling Castlevania: Lords of Shadow on their website for $60. Just a little searching will uncover many stores selling it for $55 or $54. Now keep in mind that Gamestop is asking you for $60 PLUS trying to pressure you into subscribing to a craptastic magazine for an extra $10. Save your money. Maybe Gamestop will learn eventually.

  • haha. Yeah..gamestop is horrible..I just got written up for "NUMBERS" just waiting for a couple more to be fired. Can't wait.

  • IN THE HIRING PAPERWORK it is clearly stated that part of your job description is getting the minimum percentage for numbers. Depending on the store manager, the numbers are more or less important (as long as the store as a whole is getting minimums, then you're usually ok). It's part of the yearly review. If the store gets bad numbers, the manager gets fired. Shit rolls downhill. Also, no GameStop employee gets jack shit from selling a res or a sub.

  • Do you work for Game Stop?

  • @TinHawk So what is the minimum weekly percentage?

  • It's your job dude. If you can't do it right, then you should be fired. Simple of that.

  • gamestop can you please suck my dick

  • First of all....stop saying "resoz". you sound like a douche. If you worked at my store, I would have fired your ass, as well. Subs and Res are a part of your job description...if you cant fulfil that, then you must go. Please get over this obsession that you have for Gamestop...seems unhealthy to me.

  • Ah, so you're a tool of that filthy corporation. Your opinion doesn't matter here. You've already turned off your humanity button in favor of 'moving units' and 'turning a profit'. This is what America is all about? This is what God's supposed to bless? Capitalism reminds me of Jabba the Hutt, a drooling, slovenly animal that has to be fed by handlers (managers) to stay alive.

  • and you still shop there....i guarantee it.

and what do you do for a living?

take your "i hate how america works" whiney ass somewhere else...

  • No, I don't still shop there. I don't even play the new video games because I feel that the industry going mainstream has caused the quality of the games to suffer. I have not played a satisfactory rpg in years. I don't just hate how America works, blind patriot/useful idiot... I hate how ALL OF IT WORKS! Pick up a book other than the ignorant/deceitful history textbooks and see how the world really operates.

  • why does gamestop care so much about sub and rez? Didn't they make like a billion dollars last year?

  • Yes, they got added to the Fortune 500.

  • calm down, its not like you get paid alot working at gamestop anyway. stop complaining about his lack of ability to sell res and sub. its in the business model and the job description. read the circle of life idiot.

  • Im a store manager at gamestop 4969 in north fort myers FL, GA's come and go based on performance/ablitity to follow policy/and abliity to deal with customers. Subs and Res's are to be sold not only at the counter but on the sales floor as well. Even though it doesnt seem right it is part of your job if you are a salesman sell the magazine and push the sub the card brings customer loyalty such that if someone has the card they wont shop elsewhere the the rez ensures the sale and helps ordering

  • As unfortunate as the the situation sounds the company looks at numbers to see sucess if you get the sub then theres a bookful of marketing in that persons hands if you get a res you ensure a sale and a comeback customer. They do have to get subs and res's as they are on the gamestop circle of life card presented to each employee when hired.

  • hey man i got another story for ya, i went to gamestop only because i got 2 gift cards for my birthday, amd guess what they wouldnt honor them because their "cpu was down". 2 fu>>ing gift cards that was it and they wouldnt honor them. they said how many do you have? then when i answereed the guy then said oh stuff is down

  • so if the cpu is down what do you expect him to do....

lol, seriously man if he cant do anything, he cant do anything if the cpu is down.(Means his computer wasnt working) so he couldnt do transactions.

  • i sent a friend in ten seconds later, then poof all the suddent the computers worked. so yeah the guy was lying to me

  • Oh then the guy working there was an idiot,

not all of us are like that mate :)

  • the point is the nigga lied hes wrongg and he makes gamestop look bad sorry jag

  • I dont mind man.

Its not a secret that alot of losers work at game stop, in fact I have found that many of people who have not been successful in life work there. Dont get me wrong very nice people, just its sorta a last resort. I have very flexible hours, substantial pay, cool benefits, and it doesn't get in the way of school or rugby. So im all set

  • (1)Oh yes they can, I am sorry for you and your friends lost, but sadly the world is not nice. If you can't handle the world not being nice enough you need to stay out of retail.

There are two types of retail, to help you understand I will give you examples.

Type one: Wal-Mart, Ross, and Payless.

These stores hire "pointers".Let's just say seventy percent of the time they answer a costumer's question they will be pointing them in a direction and that is that.

  • (2) They are not required to know product merchandise 100% but more they need to know where it is. (Most electronics' department/ Jewelry does not count in this) The company can hire people like this because their merchandise can sell itself, be it TV or style. (When was the last time a Payless employee randomly offered you of shoes?) Cashers are the most similar to "sales men" in these kinds of stores.

  • (2)

Type two: BestBuy, Home Depot, Diamond exchange, Game Stop

The stores above sometimes pay better because their employees are what makes the sales, perhaps a computer is in the add for $299, that can sell itself, but the employee is responsible for getting that money back in Virus protection, cables, Printer ink and a service plan.

  • (3)

The costumer walks into Game Stop with a list of games their 15 year old wants, we are responsible for a few things; see if we have it used, tell them about the 7 day satisfaction of a used game, offering them add ons for the game. (New Wii FPS? Zapper!) Also if they can't find a game and no one else has it encourage them to reserve next time to save them from the headache, after all that we offer them one more way to save with the card. ect

  • -(4)

Normally I would not type so much but you seem to consistently bash the company I work for, and you only reason being "It's not fair". I am very sorry, but retail is serious business. (If you're bad at pre-swaying things, go someplace else) If he enjoys the no pressure of having to sell a certain amount of "Blank" perhaps Wal-Mart will suit him just fine. (PS I worked for best buy and on its application it said nothing about selling things as well, please tell him to research next time.)

  • You are so right!

Im glad im not the only one who sees through this guy. He needs to understand the enviorment he is working in before ho goes and bashes it.

  • It is completely unheared of to be penilized for not getting reserves and subscriptions. We cannot control either of these, it is up to the customers. I get my fair share but never penalized for not doing either.

    ~fin~

  • Really? Omg, you should come to L.A. 6 people that I know of lost their jobs because of not getting "numbers". Hundreds of others got terminated that I didn't know for the same reason. Do you think you can do some digging and find out if it's just in California?

    -Richard

  • I will do something, I will let you know. Right now I am on good terms because I have been getting alot of subs and now our store is number one in the district.

    ~fin~

  • Cool. I'm glad you are doing good. Let's hope it stays that way. I think you deserve to have a opportunity at gamestop. You shouldn't get what we got. Take Care.

    -Richard

  • I dont like reserving anything with Gamestop due to what happened on the xbox 360 launch.. Since then my store goes through employees like they are going out of style..

  • I know the feeling. It's like their a dime a dozen. You can't even get use to the new people because it won't matter.

Perhaps going to a game store that's more respectable to the customer. Toys R Us I tried and they seem to have a better reserving policy. They hold games for 2 weeks, while gamestop holds them for 2 days. That's my opinion though. Let me know if you find a good game store.

    -Richard

  • if some one doesnt pick up their game in two days, I tend to find that they dont come at all, It is irregular that a customer comes later than two days demanding his game. And when people do remember we usually have more copies in.

  • of course its all about sales you bone head. Your job is not to make friends, you can be nice just you have to make sales.

Also, you have a load of friends that work at game stop.

    Joke

  • Please re frame from name calling, it's pointless on here and somewhat immature.

  • are you serious...... god you are soo gay

  • Okay, stop. Your acting like an uneducated person. Instead of trying to come up with a counter point and being respected by it, you'd rather take the bully approach of dealing with something that you don't agree with.

Do you really think name calling changes anything on here? Seriously. Do you work for gamestop? (just curious).

  • gamestop wont sell me games anymore because i used to "blockbust", and stopped buying those 10% off things, even the customers have it bad, anyway "blockbusting" is when i would buy 3 games for 10 dollars at gamestop and sell them to blockbuster fr 45 dollar credit

  • Hmmm, that's interesting, I haven't heard of that before. I don't think they have the right to not sell you games, I mean you can do whatever you want with them once their yours. I do see why they would want to stop selling them to you, but I don't think they can, because they have any proof and it shouldn't be that extreme of a problem. Let me know how things turn out.

    -Richard

  • im catching up with you man, anyway they now follow customers out who make phonecalls outside the store, i also have a list of games that i buy from gamestop and then sell them for more money at blockbuster, ..atleast you wont be with gamestop when people like me put them under, what gets me is they never have the games i want used, so i retaliate with "stock like" knowledge

  • I think following customers out of the store just because they're making phone calls is really is a terrible thing to do.

Which gamestop is this? if you don't mind me asking.

Well, to help you out, try their website and search on there, they have at least a way to tell which stores should have them.

    -Richard

  • the one in portage michigan, im one of the people they dont like, and i had a friend who lost his job just for knowing me outside of the store, what i do is not fraud, so say that to put fear in people

  • You should report them or encourage other people to do the same thing you're doing. They can't stop everyone. Reporting them can get them all fired because they're not suppose to stop customers from purchasing regardless what the intent may be after the purchase.

You friend should not have gotten fired, the only thing I can think of is that they may have thought he was doing something on the inside to help you out, but I really doubt that was the case.

    -Richard

  • any store reserves the right to refuse service. As for the whole fraud thing if you were doing that my store I wouldn't want you any where near my store.

  • Im sure it was well deserved. Well subs and rezos are what drives the bottom line. You have to remember that sales is the reason your open not inventory or a clean store.

  • Driving Resos and Subs drove a lot of my customers away because of the constant asking. Used/trade-ins are what made a lot of the money, although I know what you mean about Resos & Subs.

Inventory to prevent shrink & Internal stealing. Cleaning, makes everything easier to find, empty cases that should have been for the customer or missing games still left in the cases.

It's all about the customer, if it's about money, everyone loses.

    -Richard

  • darthriddle, is controling customers part of the job?

  • Ive been going to my local gamestop here in NYC since 1997 and i can tell you what this dude is saying is true.. no subs.. no res's you fired...i watch the way the manager there talks about it like its a joke.. but then i see new employees there every month

  • I agree with you and what the other person was saying. It's just sad to see great people go just because they weren't able to persuade the customer into getting something that they might not be interested in. Thank you for your comment. It's very much appreciated. I hope to see more of them soon.

    -Richard

  • sorry to tell you bro, im an ex employee of gamestop, worked there for 3 years as SGA/ASM/ and as much as it sucks, you can fire someone for JUST bad perfomance, you can make the store look pretty, but if u cant make the store look pretty on paper, your worthless. sorry bud. i left gamestop for a much better job, if stop dwelling over gamestop man, find a better job, seriously, you'll be much happier realizing all the trash gamestop shouldnt of put you through, good luck

  • Thank you for your comments. I really appreciate what you're saying. I'm happy to hear that you left Gamestop for a better job, that alone brings a smile to my face. Eventually I'll stop dwelling over Gamestop, but I feel I have a few more good blogs in me about them. Thank you again.

    -Richard

  • I have been a store manager with Gamestop for 5 years now. When you apply at Gamestop you can applying for a "Sales Job". Bottom line is you can have great customer service but if you cant sell Res and Subs then you are not fit for this job. I'm sure your friend was a nice guy but nice alone doesnt make money. If your friend worked for me I would of let him go as well. I tell al my people this when I hire them. May sound harsh but thats life. If you cant do the job then dont apply for it.

  • did this guy work at your former store? i have a feeling i know who it was

  • Yes. yes he did.

    -Richard

  • ok i am pretty sure i know who it was then, i worked with him when i worked at that store for a day. unlike the guy in the other blog, this guy wasnt so bad, i enjoyed working with him. he was actually there working with me, not hiding in the back. wonder if theres more to the story, but its too bad

  • Yup.. it's not fair at all. Kinds of reminds me of the time I heard about how some police officers have a quota to fill.. as in they have to arrest a certain number of people per day/night or it means they are not doing their job? I don't know if it's true though. Anyway, Richard, have fun at Comic con! My friend is going to a different convention himself.. so many conventions lately.

  • I'm sorry all of that is happening! I guess I don't really understand what the residence (?) and subs are- I'll have to watch your other videos. But it must be hard to deal with since you have worked there and that you still have friends who work there. Must be very frustrating! I really don't understand how people can be like that. Hope everything works out with you and your friend!

  • Thanks, it means a lot to me. Resos (Reservations), basically reserving games. Subs, subscribing to a Magazine. If you do check out the other videos, I think you'll have a better understanding. Thanks for your comment.

    -Richard

  • hey i was part of eb games before the merger and it was alot better then but now it went from better to worse they don't trust employies at all and they treat them like crap. Also theres a new rule out now that a custmer can't buy 2 systems at once (dosn't matter whitch combo i.e psp-xbox360 etc)how can you refuse a coustmer a sale.its been a log day .

  • You bring up some great points. The 2 systems at once thing I haven't heard of before, that is pretty bad for the customer. Thank you for posting a comment. I really appreciate it. And yes, it's been a long day.
