Z06s run mid 11's in the 1/4 mile. They have all-motor N/A K24 civics running low 10's on full interior! That's a 4cyl with no turbo or nitrous or supercharger! My ep3 has 286hp and I run high 11's. Explain that! American muscle is only good if you are trying to make over 1500hp and even then it breaks all the time. Honda K-POWER ALL THE WAY!

I can see both sides of this, but I want to make sure I got this strait, a corvette, THE American sportscar, was (in this video) beaten by a little foreign honda. Now, the corvette was probably stock, and the civic tuned, (obviously). A C5 CONVERTIBLE vette is not that fast and that civic will be back in the garage getting fixed in no time at all. I can appreciate the time and effort it takes to make that tiny engine beat a vette but it's still slow. Put one or two mods on the vette and the civic gets smoked.

Sure well if you're driving an import it wont go fast anyways so it doesn't matter. But for a drag car with a sequential shift kit, there is no better. Its basicly like having a stick that you can rev where ever you want but with instant shifting without clutch lag.

Hey, idiots, you dont need to warm up DOT tires. ALSO..what do we know of the vette? What I DO know, is there are some reallu slow vettes. A corvette does not mean race car. Now, and Lingfelter corvette IS a race car. Vettes are fast, but not that fast. However, anything with 4 cyl, or even 6, that can beat a vette does deserve some comendation.

Dude chill a bit. Dodge just came out with the SRT-4 Caliber. 285 hp, 265 tq. And all that comes from a turbo 2.4L. And if U.S. cars suck why does the wohle world try so hard to beat them. Anything competetive does not "suck". You can be loyal to YOUR brand w/o hating on every thing else.

If you didn't know the term RICE is a racist remark that was first used to talk down to asians, in asian car. Since then it has evolved to be used against anyone who owns a Japanese car, but is still a derogatory word. Rice generally means a car that is cheap, with horrible styling cues i.e. huge wing, neon lights etc. and no speed, or any sensibilty. So throwing everyone into this category can be offensive, It's the same as when Europeans say all Americans are fat, is that a fair statement?

Now times have changed, American cars have recently been outperforming the majority of European cars, and Europe HATES it, they're in an uproar (look up Z06 vs. Gallardo and read the European remarks). Also before you claim the Dodge powerplant as being American, learn that it is not. It is a engine made by the joint venture of mistubishi, Hyundai, and dodge. The block is provided by mitsu and so is the turbo. So claiming that powerplant as "american" is like claiming sushi as being American.

I looked at a Z06 just a couple weeks ago and it was in the upper 70k range almost 80k. And Being the Vette fan and owner I am, I still have to say the NSX is a sweet car. Wouldnt own one, but damn they are nice.

Honda cannot and will not make a 5 liter Vtec, it's not economically feasible. Just like it's not economically feasible to invest more time+money in R&D for American 5 liter engines. On the other hand, when is the last time you saw a street legal four banger run an 8 second quarter mile?

civics will shit and git with the right amount of work put into em and the right amount of useless shit taken out of it. give up couple hundred lbs of interior, leave it w/ some racing sets and some fiberglass shit for your stereo system. give up the 60 or so lbs each rims and go w/ something lightweight and change some shit to carbon fiber. get it as lightweight as possible and it's easy to smoke a vette. my cousin built a hatchback civic from the ground up & beat an '06 vette

My buddy got only 1 run at the track with his civic, lined up with his pops in a Viper. The viper ended up runnin a 12.76, my buddy in the civic ran a 12.10...The civic is driven everyday and has less than $10,000 inviested, car and all...! Honda's all day long!!....Both teh snake and the civic should be in the high 11's with multiple passes.
