Yeah it has obviously not been caught often, that big comman,I think perhaps a better indication would be if there are any hookhold marks / scars in the corner of the mouth.

Great vids, but can I dispell the myth that if a carp has a curtain in it's mouth it has not been caught before!!! think about what he is saying, he has just caught that fish and the curtain is perfectly intact!!

Carp with curtains in the mouth are fish that have either never been caught before or most likely only once or twice.

I had a 26 common from Pingles pool that had a curtain in it's mouth!

Ok whats the actual fact about the curtain of skin at the top of a carps mouth mate? Is it as Matt Hayes has told millions on his shows and dvds . "The carp has never been hooked/caught before" or is it just a carp that has been caught a few times maybe but not on the top lip? Thanks i only ask as i had a 19lb 11oz mirror from a lake near me recently which is Very over fished and the curtain was there and the mouth was Mint, i must say i was well happy as its the first carp ive had with it.

Mate, have blaged a ticket on Ashley in Cheshunt, its a lea valley water, old gravel pit lots of weedy area's....any advise? thought i might try the choddy but never fished one.

never seen the water but gravel pits are not to hard eh

get your bait going in regular and plenty.

Fish baiting litrtle and often.

Visit the water as often as you can and get up trees ect and fish spot.

my rigs are simular to yours mate.....simple! proberly simpler. i know a few of your edges, remember ;o). ive never used the withy as ive never felt like ive nneded it. but has caught u some by the looks of it - good angling!

hey steve amazing fish and well done getting not 1 but 2 fish in a day and i want to no as i am just starting out carp fishing could you recomend some gear for me to help me get started out and maybe catch my first double figure fish and my biggest so fa4 is a 9lb 10ocz common and i realy want a double figure fish in 2009, cheers mate and congrats again

Fish the margin and fish waters with doubles.

Single baits with chops and a scattewring of bait.

Fluro popups work!

At this time of year go easy on the bait but keep it going in all the time if you can pop down after work ect.

Hi Steve, the sundridge optonics are great on their own, but not when used with the sound box. One bleep on the alarm results in 3 bleeps on the sound box..it used to drive me crazy, especially at night.
