whenever people think of this kind of music...it's always chiliwack or april wine and they're great but i'm tired of people talking about them....and i'm thinking that these guys were way BETTER.....i'm going to make a point of bringing these guys back.
@synthfreakify Oh I see what you mean. Fair point. Yes the 7 #9 was used in Purple Haze as well.
However it was also used by the Beatles in 'The Taxman' on their 'Revolver' album as a D7#9 form as well as 'I feel Free' by Cream on their Fresh Cream album as E7 #9 which predated Hendrix's use in pop music. Maybe Hendrix was a Beatles fan?
It was also use by Coltrane, perhaps the Beatles were Coltrane fans...I think you see where I am going.
@synthfreakify I wasn't being a prick, at least not trying to be. Sorry you took offense. Re-reading it I guess it may have seemed flippant if taken the wrong way but that was not my intent.
The Internet can be a bad medium for exchange, especially between people who do not know each other.
Again, sorry to know I offended you.If you knew me you would know I am not a beligerent kind of guy.
Two guys who could have played in the NFL with ease: Tom Brown, and Arnie Weinmeister. Of course Joe Kapp did play. Met him too. Jerk.. same with Willie Fleming
The drummer reminds me alot of Levon Helm from The Band, just in the style he sings and plays the drums at the same time. He kind of sounds like Burton Cummings voice wise. Such a cool band.
Kamloops and Kelowna in October. Already done a concert in Castlegar. Guess they don't like Vancouver. Ugh! (Hey, they are Flames fans, and no doubt their fav football team is the Calgary Stampeders)
@7vitaman I wish I was with the band...couldn't carry a tune to save my life...lol. And to expand on your Keenan theory - can now say anyone who hires Keenan AND the Sutters lack brains...may be to late for Iggy. May be time to let loose to a squad where he has a legit shot at the Cup and get some young guys back in return to start the rebuilding process...as far as the Lions go...been a fan since the Kapp/Fleming days..yeah, I'm old...lol.
@skaggsey and I am old. Remember both Grey Cups.I knew Sonny Homer's younger Brother Don. Good boxer. Lived down the street from By Bailey, and Tom Hinton. Them were the days
i went to see the stampeders last year in lethbridge and ill be dam sure to see them this august again they come here every summer they sound better now than they did in the 70s
@MyLesPaulcopy Man ,, you are too young too remember ! Every-thing before the mid seventies was pre-recorded and lip synced ! Well almost everything ! Only thing back then was they were pretty bad at it ! They weren't actor's they were musicains !
Thank you for your in put,and yes bands do generally use the studio version live that is until they played it so much say a hit single they change it a bit to keep the song fresh for the band to play your promo comment is interesing too are these demos your refering too just wondering, again thank you for responding wild eyes is indeed a great canadian rock song.
lancewheat67 seen these guy`s twice in concert and this is there opening song !!
opening act for them had maybe 12 people out dancing when they came on stage the dance floor was full and all night it was full thanks for the memories
a rocking opus yes best song in candian rock well thats a lofty statement for any fan of music or band to say their are so many genre's styles coming out then i don't think it's the best it rates up there for sure, but to give you one sky larks wild flower would be up there in my opinion i would certanly agree though canadian bands kick ass indeed keep listening and enjoying the music sash850
This is truly a heavy song for its time. Too bad they never stayed in this direction which in my opinion would have made them a much better band. Awesome live act as well, and yes they still got it even today.
My mother saw them in Bathurst, New Brunswick in 1977. She was 14 and she's said it was a great show. I would love to live in the 70's ... to be 14 years old in 1977...wow!
LOL! I was 17 in 1977, being totally depressed because I wasn't living in the *60s* when my heros like Jimi Hendrix and the Beatles were around. I thought the 70s sucked and only wanted to travel back in time. Maybe every generation experiences this this kind of wistful nostalgia for times they never lived through.
Lol 60's are 10 years before the 70's. 70's are almost 40 years before the 70's I am extremly depressed right now XD! but I would love to live in the Hendrix-Janis-Morrison-beatles era too
Just saw them in Renfrew, litterally 20 minutes ago.. Bought a shirt, and they signed it, wow, what a show, for me and my dad, cost us $8.00. Was amazing!!! Never forget it, My dad said to the bassist "You remind me of Randy Bachman" so the bassist said "Lucky Randy" Ahaha! Hilarious, AWESOME SHOW!!
Ronny King... The bassist for the Stampeders use to play in the house band in a small bar in downtown Calgary back in the mid 80's... Is there any one out there who can remember the name of his bad and the name of the bar that he played in..... For all the times I was down there you would think I could remember at least one of them.... One 2 many beers I guess!!!...hahaha The band Ronny played in was very good, tight... And Ronny was pretty funny!!!.. It was always a good time going there!!!
Dicken's Pub & Ronnie King and the Stamps!!!!....... Like I said I must of had one to many beers back in those days.... LOL!!! When I was going to school, I was down there most weekends and once or twice a week. Great bar and always a blast when Ronnie and the band were there!!!
@safarani yes that was revolutionary also listen to the slide in wild eyes were the stampeders the first to do this in the studio or in this live performance let me know.
Between Sweet City Woman, Devil you, Monday Morning choo choo and now this, I never knew what to make of these guys back in 1972. Now I admire their versatility!
Wild Eyes still ranks as one of my all time favorite songs. It's heavy as hell even by today's standards. I'd love to hear a Death or Doom Metal version! I got to see and meet the band a few years ago in Sault Ste Marie, Canada. I still have the signed pic mounted.
