  • damn, she's talented.

  • @bunny67581 Thanks :)

  • just fascinated by u! how brave u are i mean..

i'd like to know what are the songs playing during Bastian's birth!!! i only seem to know the Evanescence one.. (Bring Me To Life).. sorry, i'm English!

love and health to you and yours!

  • @stitchwitch13

It won't let me post URLs, but the playlist is viewable online. Go to Blogspot, isarma42 and it's there :)

  • @isarma42 thanks so much, i got it! :)

  • Also why are you singing?

  • @WhiteRain74 I love singing. It's actually really useful during labor. It requires both breathing and focus. If you can sing, focus on the words, it can make it much easier to get through a contraction.

  • @isarma42 como se llama la cancion?

  • @rodername This one? "Bring Me to Life" by Evanescence

  • Why are you doing that bllllrurururlrllururlrlurulrllurur thing with your tongue?

  • @WhiteRain74 It's a breathing technique. Ina May calls it "horse lips", but essentially it reminds you to breathe and keep your jaw relaxed. Keeping your jaw relaxed it a great idea as tension will make it hurt more and cause you to tighten up everywhere. In labor, you need to open, so that little trick reminds you to relax and open.

  • lmao at the music hahaha

  • @arsenal2death I was actually really pleased with this as the first song I was aware of.

  • On a scale from 1-10, how much did this hurt?

  • @MissClavelle Then? Not nearly as much as it did later :)

  • i'm so glad i'm a boy :p

  • @mattlaureys I'm really glad I'm a woman, too.

  • that is my fav song

  • @zoeygirl11 It's definitely one of my favorite to sing :)

  • good singer and i'm a singer too and ussally don't agree on singers(mostly because don't want them stealing my spotlight)LOL!

  • @mjlover7531 Ha! And thanks, I love to sing :)

  • good song. very much a powerful woman song.

  • @JessiexRazit It was a good way to start :) Singing really helped me in labor.

  • Congratulations!! This is a wonderful video, and your singing skills aren't bad either

  • @estherbooshie2008 Thanks :)

  • i wish i could get a home birth

  • @TheBeloved1one I have no idea your location or position, but there are options. If you're interested in homebirth, I'd check out MDC's "finding your tribe" for your geographic area and check out resources.

  • congrulations, good job!

  • @940powergirl Thanks:)

  • amazing singing

  • @paisleyannette Thanks!

  • the singing is amazing and congratz on the baby there all gawjuss x

  • @paisleyannette Thank you two times:)

  • Yes the singing is amazing.

  • @kenladuke Thank you! It really helped:)

  • @isarma42 I have given birth to three babies, and I don't know that I would have had the strength to do it at home. I did have issues with the way things went at the hospital, so I probably would have had a better experience at home. It is wonderful to see the support of your friends and family. I know how much that helps. Congrats on your beautiful family.

  • @kenladuke If you decide to have another, remember that you do have options:) There are certified nurse midwives who work in hospitals and birthing centers. There are also wonderful homebirth midwives. Maybe shop around and bit and see what's the right fit for you:)

  • who is the lady in the tub with u??

  • @Hisgurl942 There's not a woman in the tub with me, in this video. My friend, Rebecca, is right behind me rubbing my back.

  • I love how you sang :)

  • @meggyloo22 Thanks! I loved singing. It really helped.

  • what is the pain like??

  • @mrggbummer It's nearly impossible for me to describe. Sorry!

  • @mrggbummer i asked my mom the same thing, a couple years ago, and she said it's like the pain during your period, but then 10 times wurse

  • thanks again for sharing. i have to say i love your playlist, im getting mine ready for my birth.

  • @vhomesick Thanks! The whole list is posted on isarma42 @ blogspot, if you're interested.

  • your a good singer = )

  • @DarkvoidTNC Thanks!

  • Wow! Thanks for sharing! Good luck and well done!

  • @melikedogs100 You're so welcome:)

  • you are soo weird

  • @avanillap Um, thanks?:)

  • What is the name of the song that starts at the 4:20 point in the video? Also I think it is amazing that you can sing like that with no medication for the pain!!!

  • @angalfaro "Did We Not Choose Each Other" by Sophie B. Hawkins. Thanks!

  • Good job! Thanks for sharing your birth experience. I had 2 homebirths after a traumatic hospital birth for my 1st daughter. What is "freebirthing"?? I've never heard of that, but I've been out of the birthing circles for the last 25 years!

  • @Marleyites You're so welcome! how wonderful that you had homebirths 25 years ago. Freebirthing, or unassisted birth, is birthing without a professional and taking full responsibility for your birth experience. Google "unassisted birth" and you'll find lots of websites and info:)

  • u sing really good

  • @ellarox21 Thanks! I love to sing:)

  • @ellarox21 me too! I couldnt live without music!!

  • seems like november is a good month to have a baby , m y daughter was born 11 26 09

  • @OhdudeWTF It's a great month:) Congrats to you, too!

  • @OhdudeWTF congrats!

  • My son's name is Bastion. This caught my eye while researching freebirthing for out 2nd child due in Nov 2010.

  • @rikiamber How cool:) My Bastian was born in November of 2007. Good luck on your upcoming birth!

  • Am I the only one amused by the fact that they are in a pool inside the house? O-O? but congratz anyway! Children are beautiful!.

And you have a amazzing voice at singing!

  • @AngelxInxLove16 It's common to use pools like this for waterbirths. And thanks:)

  • stronge mom you :)

  • @VirginVucci Thanks:)

  • This is hardcore! I'm planning on becoming a midwife, so I find this really interesting! So the woman at 0:55 holding you was just one of your friends?

  • @roxanne1941 How exciting! I'm working towards becoming a midwife, too. What kind do you plan to be? I'm doing homebirth, of course. I just haven't decided if I'll become a CPM and remain a lay midwife. And yes, she's a good friend of mine. She's also a homebirther. Two of the moms are homebirthers and one had a natural, hospital birth.

  • whats the song?! and you are amazing!

  • @PhyscoSweety1 Thanks! The first one? "Bring Me to Life" by Evanescence.

  • thanx so much i love that song. and your welcome

  • @isarma42 YES THE BEST SONG EVER

  • @PhyscoSweety1 bring me to life by evencences

  • @ItsCorrineSoScream BEST BAND EVER...NOT PARAMORE EWW

  • and congratulations to you and your 3 births!!! i wish them the best and i wish you in the best ways possible in life!! great job

  • @PurePkay Thanks!

  • i would have to agree.. i have always wanted to see the mirical or a babys birth (human) goos choice of music

  • @PurePkay Thanks:) I'm glad you got to see it!

  • why were you crying?

  • @mirandabear97 It hurt and I was scared. I think transition was ramping up, which exacerbated alot of it.

  • you are a great singer!!!

  • @gymnasticsluv123 Thanks:)

  • well ont hing that came on my mind seeing this is " i've seen some reaction on havin birth but never really one like that" ur uniq i mean usualy woman scream or something but don't cry and sing :) that's cute tho ...i'm scared of that part when i'm gonna have my own kids well ...u must b a proud mommy :)

  • @magicmoonlight87 Oh, I screamed, too, but thanks:)

  • hey sarah remember me? i gave you comments some long time ago . how are ur kids? are u fine? i like when u sing here . u are good to begin a singer . xD [ hugs ] i think bastian was heard you from inside when u was singing . hehe . thats a good point

  • @PuFfaTOMic I don't remember your name, specifically, sorry. There are lots of comments!

We're doing great. The boys are 2 and 9, now. I think he heard me, too. In fact, one of the songs from the birth "Bubbly" is still his favorite lullabye:)

  • .lol, pa-rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

  • I.D.k it was this funny noise I heard!

  • The pukey/nauseous waves are weird, lol. My hubby has a picture of me in labour on my knees, half hanging out of my fishy pool asleep with my head inside a stockpot. I never had less than 6 mins between contractions and I slept like a stone between them all. You seem so perky!

  • @Whoozinga I'm perky in general:) I was way too excited to sleep! It was a quick labor, though.

  • People if u think this is disturbing then just dont watch it. No one is forcing u to. Dont you think that there is something better to do than posting mean comments? If u dont like it then dont watch it it is that simple...

  • @Snowbuni00luv I don't quite get why they do, if it just upsets them. Regardless, the negative comments don't bother me a bit:)

  • I bet you are a wonderful mother...when i watched the video i thought you were extremely pretty and brave...PS...great singing voice ya got there!!!:)

  • @Theawesomegal1 Thanks so much:)

  • This is disturbing.

  • Then close the window.

  • Why are you watching then?

  • Your page is disturbing. It's not visible. What are you hiding from?

  • Stupid question but didn't the water feel cold?

Guess you didn't even notice huh? :)

  • Nah - they added hot water to it and we had a thermometer in the water. I'm sure I wouldn't have noticed by the end, though.

  • Sweet - again you had the most wonderful people around you! And I love the music, too! :)

  • Thanks:)

  • GO EVANESCENCE!

  • Love that song:)

  • Me too! OMG, if I ever get a baby I want that song playing!! :)

  • You have a lovely voice and are a lovely woman...thank you for sharing your experience! I delivered with a MidWife and am a Doula myself..."natural" delivery may not be safe for everyone but it is "natural" and should at least be given a chance. :o) I'm so glad you and your beautiful family had the kindness to share your experience with the world. All the best to you all~Lisa in Ohio

  • u sing awesome, and that is even during a contraction! lol

  • thank you! It really helped during contractions:)

  • How did you empty that tub afterwards? Hahaha..

  • In the backyard:)

  • by the way! was it scary?

  • Definitely at points during transition it was for me, but I knew that was just part of it.

  • i can imagine that must hurt :( but i still feel so happy for you! (you have a beautiful singing voice :)

  • Oh, it did, but it was worth it! It was very happy:)

    Thanks!

  • I did it! I had my baby at home! I had Jonathan on January 7th! It was everything I expected it to be...perfection! My niece was my doula, my hubby helped deliver him. Videos like this really inspired me. Thank you!

  • That's so wonderful! I love comments like this:)

  • One BRAVE Girl! And by the way, BEAUTIFUL Voice!!!

  • Well, I'm not sure about brave - lots of women have done this, but thanks:)

  • My sister in law has had her last two children at home. Jeremiah Lee on 11/21/07 and Esther Odelia on 6/27/09. The only people present were her and her husband.

  • How wonderful!

  • wow u were so strong grl! im due next month and my soon 2 b husband is deployed n iraq right now hope he can come home for the birth!! i love and miss him soo much

  • I'm sure that's very hard:( I hope you get to see him soon.

  • Thank u i actually just found out the army is lettin him come home for the birth!!

  • Awesome!

  • do you happen to have a list of songs that were playing throughout your videos? i would really like to steal a few. thanks! i know you mentioned to someone else a webpage, but im not sure how to get there. thanks!

  • I do:) It's on the blog - isarma42 @ blogspot. Sorry, I can't link in a comment.

  • nice voice

  • Thanks:)

  • is all your children in the videos? i only see DEKLIN and the newborn(BASTIAN).

  • Yep, just Declan and Bastian. My oldest, Elena, was adopted. You can read the birth stories at isarma42 on blogspot.

  • do you suggest giving birth at home? I am due in 2 months and am scared to death of all the pain. i dont really want a doctor to tell me to push when my body is against it. do you feel the same way?

  • It was important to me not to be told what to do. I loved the emotional support from my friends and family, but I never felt like I had to do anything. I only did what felt right to me. I definitely recommend homebirth. The vast majority of women are just as safe - even safer, at home.

  • How did you sterilize the pool before using it to give birth? I want to give birth in a pool at home but I know there are certain steps before that can take place. Thank you :-)

  • I didn't worry about sterilizing, but I'm sure you can find some basic instructions online with googling.

  • what was it like did you have your other child the same way if not is it better to have a water birth

  • My other two births were both interventive hospital births with epidurals and I definitely preferred waterbirth at home. I wish I'd had them all this way!

  • You appear as if you are in deadly pain...this makes me scared!

  • Well, obviously it's not deadly:) The pain can be intense, but it has a purpose. It's normal to be scared, but it's absolutely doable.

  • el agua calma el dolor?puedes poner subtitulos en español en los videos de tu parto please?

  • Yes, water can calm the pain. No, I won't be adding subtitles.

  • Why was daddy naked?--Why did you make us see that? Why was your other son even there and why was his head so close to your boob? Why was his voice stressing you out? Don't you love him too?

  • -Because it's how he's most comfortable and we don't see casual nudity as a big deal.

-Because there's nothing wrong with having children at a birth and he was very excited to be there. As far as the boob comment, I don't see how proximity to a breast during childbirth is a big deal.

-It's common for women to ask for a caregiver for their child during births. The mothering impulse is strong and it can hard to focus on birthing and caring for your older child(ren) at the same time.

  • Wow--this is sooooo funny---poor little bastian is going to be scarred for life---the best part is the 12 year old breast feeding in the background---

  • He's 17 months old - not 12. Do a bit of research before you go saying that's too old to breastfeed and save us both some time.

To the rest of it, the tone of your comments is derisive and disrespectful. I'm happy to discuss or debate with people of opposing viewpoints, but if you continue to do so with that tone, I'll block you.

  • yay! going under! evanescence forever! beautiful! my darling! ur my insperation!!!

  • Haha:) Thanks!

  • Hi Sarah! first of all, congratulations for your truly amazing achievement. I want to ask, what do contractions feel like? I've heard and read that some women liken them with very bad menstrual cramps, while others describe them as a very tight elastic band stretching, for you, how was the pain? What did make the pain more bearable for you?

  • Thanks:) I'm sorry, I've never been great at describing them. They do start off like cramps, but then magnify by an incredible factor! Mostly, I just kept repeating to myself that pain wouldn't kill me. The way out is through. I found the singing useful. I also really benefited from Ina May's advice about keeping your jaw relaxed and making horse lips. Having a focus object seemed to help, too.

  • WE ARE WOMAN! HEAR US ROAR!

  • Definitely:)

  • Wow you're a pretty good singer too :)

  • Thanks!

  • So, you find it easier to deleiver on all fours? I so tried to give birth natural, but my body wouldn't let me. I would not dialate no more that 7 with my son, and I didn't dialate with my daughter. I was in labor, but couldn't pass em. So, a c- cection had to be done. Then, devolped cancer and had it all ripped out. I wanted more kids, but couldn't. Then, on March 11, 2002, my daughter passed. So, I have my 11 year old son, and I thank GOD everyday for him. Thank you for answering my questions.

  • I'm sorry you're had such a rough go of it:( Yes, all fours is easier. Lying on your back is working against gravity. Many hospital procedures aren't effective in aiding normal birth, unfortunately.

  • One more thing I wanted to ask, sorry for all the questions..lol..but what it easier to have the baby on all fours or laying on your back? I have been curious about it, but I always forgot to ask..

  • That's fine:) Lying on your back makes it more painful and is only useful for one person - the person catching. It actually closes the pelvis by about 30%. All fours is a good natural birthing position, as it allows full opening for the pelvis. Squatting is good, too. Anything that allows the body to open:)

  • How long were you actually in labor for? And you have a beautiful voice, by the way. Did you maybe have a nurse, midwife, and/or doctor like on standby? In case you may have needed one..?

  • I was probably in labor for about 12 hours, but wasn't sure until transition. Hard labor was only about 5 hours.

Nope. There was a nearby hospital, of course, so I would've transferred for an emergency.

  • totally amazing i know that home births are starting to gather alot more exceptance in the community at large. What better way to have your new child, with special freind's and family as apposed to a sterile and rushed hospital environment. Are there any implications that could arise whilst you are giving birth that might need medical assistance ? Im sure that there is alot of studying how to and what if. If you are going to attempt something like this. You all looked like you knew what to do

  • There are certainly things that can happen, but it's alot more rare than most people believe. I think a good place to start is a little book called, "Emergency Childbirth" by Dr. Gregory White. It's intended as a manual for EMTs and such, but really does a fantastic job of laying out how simple it can be:) Other than that, maybe check out Mothering's website, the UC forum and there are lots of links and books there.

  • why were you crying (I think i have the answer but tell me anyway please)

  • I was entering transition and beginning to feel very afraid.

  • why were you making like a thrrrr sound. like with your tounge?

  • Yeah, basically like horse lips. It helps to keep the jaw relaxed. Ina May Gaskin talks about it quite a bit. If your mouth is loose, it's hard for your cervix to be tightened down:) I believe she calls it the Sphincter Law.

  • i am scared too

  • It's normal to be scared in transition, but it passes:)

  • who was the woman who did something with ur back who were all the people with u

  • A good friend. She was providing counter pressure. They're all close friends and family.

  • why are you making that sound..? and is the music 2 make you calm..?

  • Have no idea which sound you mean, but lots of women use sound when laboring. Yes, the music helps alot. It helps me to breathe deeply and gave me something to focus on.

  • Congrats, great job!! Did you like your birth pool (i think it's the ocean reef one, right?) I'm due in 8 weeks and need to buy one, any input would be great. Thanks!

  • Thanks! Honestly, if I had it to do again I'd buy a proper birth pool. It worked out, but I had a few complaints:

    1) I would've liked firmer sides. There was a bit too much squish to bear down on.

    2) It didn't have handles. I used my friend's hands, instead, but if I hadn't had enough hands, it would've been hard to bear down.

    3) Heat. We ran out of hot water, so the water wasn't as high as I'd hoped.

    Good luck!

  • My baby was 11lbs 2oz January 31, 2008 I feel for you! lol.

How is he now? How has was his physical development?

  • Congrats on the big baby:) He's 16 months old and he's great. He's a very active toddler.

  • omg

    how old r u

    u did pretty good

    love the singing

  • Thanks.

    I'm 31.

  • It's Bring Me To Life by Evanescence. Good luck with that:) Some women are calm birthers and some aren't - I think it's a personality thing.

  • WOAH 11 lbs you are one strong woman!
