Someone correct me on this, is the game gear sonic 1 the same as the master system sonic 1?

It seems like it gets different from stage 2 on, but I don't really remember the master system sonic well.

This was my favorite version of sonic period, I loved the music too much. The bridge, jungle and labyrinth tunes are great.

Try 19:43 for the whole game *with* the Chaos Emeralds. And before you say prove it, I can't. It was when the GG first came out (before the internet came out!). Once I'd finished it the first time I just got the idea 'I wonder how *fast* I can do it'? Then I spent two years practicing. Didn't quite realise how sad that was at the time, it just kinda happened. I could see entire levels in my head and had the button presses memorised. GG long gone now - no chance of recreation.

I'm not sure but I think its because he has a shield and that makes Sonic flicker between one frame of his normal self and one frame of that floating orb thing, but due to the frame rate being a bit off it just looks odd. :)

hey mr guy. on the first greenhill stage. its possible to get 0:19 seconds. towards the beginning between the ring box on the plateau and the crab. jump off the little plateau and land on the decline rolling through it. it will take one second off your clock...otherwise everthing is perfect in that stage at least.

I'd also recommend avoiding the shield. Unless you're going to need it soon, pass it up. It makes Sonic look invisible at times, and other times it looks as though he has no shield. It makes the run kind of weird to watch.

Jumping those breakable bridges would make the run shorter. There's a big drop in framerate when you run across, so if they don't break, the run will be a tiny bit faster.

You randomly die all of a sudden like even if you jump on a platform or just do anything which doesn't or shouldn't even come near death and in fact you die for no reason (probably a BUG?). This even happens on Sonic The Hedgehog on the Sega Master System. Good Video/Run by the way; surely you can do better for a "speedrun."

The thing about these games are that they can be tas'd so easily without noticing it if you have the correct equipment. But yeah, I don't think you've left yourself much room for improvement, except for the couple mistakes towards the end. =P Nice job.

It can be improved, but the strategies to do so wouldn't be plausible in a SS. For example, Bridge Zone 1 can be done in 22 seconds, but the strategy to do so is nearly impossible. And I can do the Bridge Zone 3 boss in 2 cycles, I just screwed up here.

I can now get a sub-43 seconds Jungle Zone 1 consistently, but the record is 0:25 (the record video uses all these crazy and precise stunts with fast rolling).

This was played through Sonic Adventure DX. And yeah, I do have a Game Gear, it was my first handheld actually =P

The Game Gear lost to the Game Boy because it was too big, too little battery life, and no "system-sellers" were on it.
