Great video Icpm1956! When you get time google Col. S.W. Kearny Expedition 1845 and you will find out that you have stumbled upon one of their camps. I study and recover artifacts from this time period in the Midwest. Many of the things you have found relate to the "Dragoon Soldier". Take care my friend!
I am not sure anyone can say for sure the military was or was not here or there. History is deposited in layers one after another but when you have a site with presumably a lot of soil turn over it all goes out the window. You want to express a disagreement fine but don't be a prick about it.
Wrong you are,I am well aware of the activity on that site, its called research. There is also knowing how to date what you are finding, not basing that on the date of a coin you found. If I drop a 1850 coin in my yard does that make my yard a 1850 site??
You are such a d&%k! I see that you've never posted any videos of yourself, but are quick to be critiacal of others. I have been there. I hunted the area. It has no agricultural value, other than grazing. It has NEVER been plowed and everything has been found in the same strata. Every item supported the next one. I say it was between 1830 and 1860. There is evidence of Dragoon presence, Buck-N-Ball loads (common smooth bore techniques) as well as permanent strutures. Could be malitia?
Nice finds lcpm1956. You found a variety of really great finds. Love those old coins and especially like the Razorback Warthog buttons. Those are cool.
Looks like you found a Honey Hole. I would definitely go back there again. You did not say a whole lot about your coin finds. Looks like you had a seated and a barber of some sort.
Wow, I never realized that the California Gold Rush dated to 1830.......LOL.......Hmmm, wonder what Johann Sutter, James Marshall, and Samual Brannan would have to say concerning that. In all actuality, there was virtually NO Anglo activity in that area prior to the late 1840's.
The rusty steel "Gold Pan", is in fact a frying pan that once had a handle attached by rivets. Gold Pans of the 1840's-1850's are constructed of rolled tin coated sheet steel, and fashioned from three or four pieces lead soldered at the seams.
If one takes the time and effort to dig these items, and post videos for the public to view, then at the very least an appreciation for actual history and the facts should be understood and provided for our future generations to study and learn!
Great Video The editing is excalant. However you need to study up on your relics some. The D in the button is for Dragoons. It dates from the 1830's great fine. The words on the back are called backmarks and help identify were they are made. Also the bullet mold was to cast round balls not mini balls. All in all great fines just need to study up on relics alittle.
Awesome selection of coins and relics on this very enjoyable video. GL & HH :D

Awesome finds for 2008. I would love to find a virgin camp like that back here in the east. I guess there are still some around but very few.
Enjoy the awesomeness of hunting a virgin spot, they will not be around forever.
