  • Slim's harp playing is so distinctive, you could pick it out of a crowd of a thousand. Scratch my back, King Bee...this cat is where its at.

  • This is in MANY ways.. Similar to Oh! Darling by the Beatles :S

  • I remember this... it was BIG in Chicago... WLS radio would play it.

  • Slim Harpo was one great player..his songs are so smooth and good.!

  • This was a very very big record here in OKC back in 1961 on our local top 40 radio station. You asked the question which is better, Slim Harpo or Hank Jr..

A question you shouldn't have been asked. Good Post.

  • @larrynealwaxmuseum <<< THANKS for the comment and as for my question lolol i was just trying stir up some comments lol.... The view count shows whos better lool

  • I love the version of The Pretty Things

  • love this one.this original is the best.thanks for this one :)

  • You can feel the deep felt emotion when Slim Harpo sings in his down home bluesy way and then IMO puts it away with his great harmonica playing.......

  • In my opinion Slim Harpo had the best version of this song. Hank Jr. was on hee haw this week and he sang this. He did a real good job. I guess I am a little bias in that this was a time in my life when it was popular.

  • I remember this song from when I was a kid. This is the best version. It makes me think of my mom and dad. I miss them so much.

  • Now if only Clyde Mcphaters great cover could also be posted! He did a swell one.

  • Midnightryder3, Reuben is still alive and he is an icon in his hometown because we still remember him singing the song and his voice was so much better when he was young. There may still be some who have the song on record and if they could put it on here it would be great.

And I am not putting anyone else down on their singing of it. In fact Harpo does a great job and no one can deny that. Hope everyone has a great day.

  • has anyone every noticed the similarity to this song and Oh Darling by The Beatles? Especially the very beginning.

  • I never heard the Hank, Jr. version. Hank, Sr. is one of my idols though. But the Slim Harpo and Jerry Lee Lewis versions of "Raining in my heart" are the best I've ever heard of blues performances.

  • @PatrickWall12 <<< I have the Hank Jr version on my video responses if u didnt hear it ...... I like Jr's version not BETTER lol but as good as slims but never heard Jerry lee's

  • A kid by the name of Reuben Bergeron, stagename "Jerry Rains" wrote this sone and sang it the best. He was only about 17 when he'd sing this in his home town, Houma Louisiana, and thanks to an agent who stole and copywrighted all his music he never got the proper credit and royalties. There are some dishonest people in thid world. I hopw you could have heard him sind ig.

  • @docmo217 <<< wish i could have heard Reuben's singing it !!!! Thanks for the comment and info

  • Slim Harpo and Jerry Lee Lewis do this song great. I love this song, you can't beat the blues.

  • @rickndaboro202 I wouldn't argue with you. Touches me way down deep ! Have Mercy !

  • nicely done. Slim Harpo's version is far better than Hank Jr. Original's are always better.

  • iam only 28 b ut i love this song

  • Slim harpo have the best version of Raining in my Heart .

I love his job, and the harp is tender.

There are another one interpretation of this song by Harpo too, but I like this one.

    Sorry my english.

    Cheers from Basque Country Euskadi

  • great song

  • Most Beautiful Song On The Plantit

  • This song so GREAT! 47 years ago I sat and watch my mom and dad dance to this song. Now when i pay it, I can see my parents dancing across the floor just as they did when I was 4 years old.

  • This is the greatest slim harpo song ever! I still have my excello 45 of it.

  • Nicely done! Great video!

  • @ColZark <<< THANKS for the comment

  • To Midnightryder, have you heard Slim's follow up song called Still Raining In My Heart?

    It's almost as pretty.

  • None can compare to the combination of song-singer in this video!!

  • June 1961, leaving college for the summer, stopped by restaurant played this song over & over on the jukebox.. Still one of my all time favorites. Hank's version doesn't capture the soul of this one.

  • @2010Pepper

I love that story. Totally agree with you on the fav thing.

  • The original by Slim is still the best. Absolutely love the mouth harp in this song.

  • @WendyKS93 .... THANKS FOR THE COMMENT

  • love the mouth organ ! find it makes a very big difference.

    love slims voice,much softer!

    great video!!! 5*
