According to Docmo here at youTube: "Am American kid by the name of Reuben Bergeron, whose stagename was "Jerry Rains," wrote this song and sang it [the best]. He was only about 17 years ago when he'd sing this in his hometown -- Houma, Louisiana. However, due to an unethical agent who stole and copywrighted all Rains' music, he never got proper credit or royalties. There are some dishonest people in this world, sadly. I wish you could have heard him sing it."
This was a very very big record here in OKC back in 1961 on our local top 40 radio station. You asked the question which is better, Slim Harpo or Hank Jr..
A question you shouldn't have been asked. Good Post.

@larrynealwaxmuseum <<< THANKS for the comment and as for my question lolol i was just trying stir up some comments lol.... The view count shows whos better lool
You can feel the deep felt emotion when Slim Harpo sings in his down home bluesy way and then IMO puts it away with his great harmonica playing.......
In my opinion Slim Harpo had the best version of this song. Hank Jr. was on hee haw this week and he sang this. He did a real good job. I guess I am a little bias in that this was a time in my life when it was popular.
Midnightryder3, Reuben is still alive and he is an icon in his hometown because we still remember him singing the song and his voice was so much better when he was young. There may still be some who have the song on record and if they could put it on here it would be great.
And I am not putting anyone else down on their singing of it. In fact Harpo does a great job and no one can deny that. Hope everyone has a great day.
I never heard the Hank, Jr. version. Hank, Sr. is one of my idols though. But the Slim Harpo and Jerry Lee Lewis versions of "Raining in my heart" are the best I've ever heard of blues performances.
@PatrickWall12 <<< I have the Hank Jr version on my video responses if u didnt hear it ...... I like Jr's version not BETTER lol but as good as slims but never heard Jerry lee's

This song so GREAT! 47 years ago I sat and watch my mom and dad dance to this song. Now when i pay it, I can see my parents dancing across the floor just as they did when I was 4 years old.
June 1961, leaving college for the summer, stopped by restaurant played this song over & over on the jukebox.. Still one of my all time favorites. Hank's version doesn't capture the soul of this one.

Slim's harp playing is so distinctive, you could pick it out of a crowd of a thousand. Scratch my back, King Bee...this cat is where its at.
