i love this story so much i used to listen to it all the time. i especially like when squirrel nutkin says "hitty pitty within the wall hitty pitty without the wall if u touch hitty pitty hitty pitty will bite you!!!!!" lolz

What I'd like is to retain Mr Brown's experience and wisdom (and privacy and space!) but also some of Nutkin's enthusiasm and smarts... but I suppose that's too much to hope for :(

I think Mr Brown is cool and I felt bad for him being bothered so much, but Nutkin is cute and silly, I think he deserved to be punished but not quite that severely. tho that seems too be a trend in these old stories, a good old fashioned hard lesson and no repeat offences. My english teacher is the same way.

Yes, old-fashioned discipline was often too harsh :( Though sometimes today it seems that (nearly) no discipline is not too good for equipping children to live in the grown up world... Maybe somewhere between the two? Regular (minimal necessary) rules that are enforced would be better than either?

Hi there, poor Mr Brown! Between your cats and dogs he doesn't stand a chance... Although my natural sympathies are with the smart cheeky Nutkin at this stage of my life I have begun to understand the Owl's point of view more than I used to, so don't be too hard on him!

I know, isn't taht interesting, when you're young nutkin seems like he got bullied by the owl, but when you're as old as i am now, it seems as if nutkin got what he deserved, and you can sympathise very heavily with Old Brown.
