  • The stuff that's makes the blood flow ! :)))

  • this goes back to the days where you could have a bizarre image....and still have a music career. Parliament, KISS, Zappa, Labelle, Sun Ra..... today's music/entertainers are so antiseptic, so digitally polished, so controlled, it actually loses its spirit.

  • increible este video me fascinaba cuando tenia 14 años, y todavia me impresiona

  • 3 days and counting till I see this band . I am so glad they are still touring . That way I can say yep I saw Dr funkenstien .

  • @brandoncipelle Man, I saw them not to long ago and it was just one big party...between the audience and what was going on...on stage.... One Big Party! Everybody was feelin' it...

  • I was fortunate to see this tour in 76. Booty's Rubber Band, Sly and the Family Stone and Parliament. I think my two friends and I were the only 3 white guys there. We didn't care and neither did anyone else. We were there for the music and the FUNK was GREAT. They played for 4 hours. One of the best shows EVER.

  • This shit is so FUNKY!! If u don't ubderstand it... Get the hell off this page!!

  • FUUUUUNKYYYYYYYYYYYYY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I'd like to be that lone white guy at one of those after concert parties. I bet he banged some sistas.

  • DID THAT MOTHER JUST DECEND AND ACCEND FROM A GODDAMNED SPACE SHIP?

    GODDAMN.

  • kiss was jewish white group and clinton is black; thus, no marketing, no rights etc...

  • @804ktj I dont think white people knew kiss was a jewish band in those days.

  • GREAT bass playing. Tight rhythm section.

  • diaper, koks show, spielfreude, schräger clinton, wäre vielleicht eine co- produktion mit udo lindenbergs "gerhard gösebrecht " möglich gewesen???

  • Iam searching for a video where this guy steps down the stairs with a big white hat on his head ... and he does this so fucking tight that its fucking amazing how he moves ... anyone ???

  • The stuff they were wearing amazes me.

  • the mothership! :D

  • i just lit two matches... funky in here

  • Been Funking since 76(3yrs old)...knew i shouldn't have watched this video...now i gots to go out to some old boring R&B lounge to get some what of a kick in my system if ya DIG what i'm saying....NOTHING LIKE THE P FUNK or the BOMB!!!

  • I would purchase this if I KNEW the royalties were going to GEORGE and the group and not bloodsuckers who have been stealing (royalties) and the group BLIND!!! Damn shame!

  • This was George Clinton at his finest. I wish there are bands now this creative and bold like this now. R&B is so fake and commercialized today compaired to what these pioneers did in the 70's.

  • @Toddthedidger AMEN to that! Long live old school. The early 90's were the last generation to cultivate and learn from their predecessors like boyz d men etc. Beginning in the new millenia with the new hip hop/gangsta music is the era of brain dead talentless non musicians. All the original R&b or motown musicians LIVED for their music and it was a LIFETIME of development and God given talent, this is why I refuse to listen to anything NEW in todays music unless it's jazz or classical

  • There's a bootleg of this concert, Mothership Connection Newberg Session. It was recorded in Hangar E at Stewart Airfield in Newburgh, New York on September 26, 1976 during the rehearsals for the P-Funk Earth Tour. I hope the rest of the tapes gets found!

  • this shit is just too funky..."kiss me on my ego"...classic P Funk

  • That is one MONSTER of a bassline. The entire galaxy is noddin' their heads to the beat.

  • assisti a este video pela primeira vez em 1977 e jamais esqueci até hoje pouca coisa se compara...

  • I love this P-Funk shit!

been a funkateer since i was in pampers in the 70's,

nothing on this planet in music can fuck with P-Funk..

  • If this ain't funky enough for you... try suicide!!!!!

  • nice ad for the book

  • rip ray davis

  • chilli peppers "sir psycho sexy" rip this right off on blood sugar sex album

  • I don't think Ford would have invited these guys to perform at the White House

  • Man... Can't stop listening.. don't even want to stop. because PARLIAMENT is the real deal!

  • this shit is so funky!!! you young jacks dont know shit!! we created this!!!

  • This book is pretty good but I was hoping for more Parliament matierial. And Yeah they were better songwriters than Kiss, that is if Kiss even wrote their own music.

  • WHAT HAPPENED? How could the label LOSE this INCREDIBLE ART? Why did P-Funk not have publicity & marketing like label mates KISS?

KISS had lunch boxes, mugs, sun glasses, many posters, Marvel Comics, underwear, socks, dolls, etc; I read in Wax Poetics that the Mothership ended up in some rigger's mother's garage & then out in the trash!

    P-Funk had better musicians, songs, & singers and just as tight of a stage show as Kiss, Alice Cooper, etc;

I truly hope that EVERYTHING IS FOUND. :-)

  • @billyjacc: AMEN bro! What happened was that black folk were more threatening than even KISS and Alice Cooper. Damn shame 'cause these guys were brilliant, and the performance art was mind-blowing!

  • @billyjacc

It's a long story. First off the first president of the label was escorted out of there because of lost money, cooking the book & excess. So other artists & the record label that took over Casablanca(Polygram, now owned by Universal) might have either gave away collector's items didn't think it would value to nothing. Remember, the record business back in the days never thought of royalties in years to come, they worried about getting paid what hot now back in the late 70's/early 80s

  • @billyjacc

    Part 2

Second Kiss owned almost all of their merchandise and had a smart managers & accountants.

Third, the drugs fuck up everybody's mind. Read the book. You'll be amazed at what's going on.

Speaking of KISS, I don't think George Clinton was in it for making merchandise like lunch boxes and things like that. When bands like KISS & other boy bands did it, the credibilty & the music is lost. It happened with KISS in the late seventies & early eighties. P-Funk sold records without it

  • @billyjacc come on u got to ask that ?

  • @billyjacc

I know this comment is old as hell but i just wanted to reply to this...

And you're right, PFUNK did NOT have all the same support from the lable, largely due to the fact that it was 1976 and PFunk was a black band.

It's really as simple as that!

Large record companies wouldn't invest the same on a black band, regardless of stage precense, or popularity.

Its a sad reality that has long been part of this wonderful American Culture!

  • @moetempest There is no "American culture."

  • @moetempest-Maybe not, but they definitely had more support from their label than other black bands of that era (with the possible exception of Earth, Wind and Fire). The Mothership Connection stage show put P-Funk in the same level as any of the arena rock bands, allowing them to be the first to give major theatrics to the African-American audience for the first time.

  • @billyjacc true, and where is Kiss today? google Parliament Funkadelic tours..... doesnt make sense does it. Clinton had to Pay for Most of what we love about the theatrical sense of his tours from a budget that didnt exist and the members including himself suffered at the expense of creating the spectacle of the Pfunk. Could it have been racist politics in the industry? nawwww. but hmmmm.

  • @billyjacc Back then, and to a lesser extent even now, the mainstream didn't cherish Black culture until White artists co-opted it. Like the blues before it, funk was not really checked for until the Eighties when folks like the Talking Heads brought funk to the masses...PEACE.

  • My question is one of many..., like.., How the heck could your label LOSE this incredible art work?

C'mon now I read in Poetic Wax that the Mothership ended up in some riggers mothers backyard in Maryland,. What the heck happened?

    How come KISS were able to capitalize crazy cash off of their image, they have old videos, dolls, lunch boxes, mugs, sun glasses, etc;

Why did P-Funk who had better music & just as tight a stage show get put to the side like that? I hope EVERYTHING TURNS UP. :-)

  • Shot me back to my Funky side and I'm glad my bones are still connected and well slick to move and groove.

  • i remember finding this LP in my pops collection as a child...scarred me for life... ima funkateer !!!

  • The Horny Horns

  • Parliament: This is the original 1976 Casablanca Records music video for Parliament's single "Dr. Funkenstein." This clip was part of a 15-minute promo film, which included three additional Parliament music videos. If anyone has a broadcast master of any of the Dr. Funkenstein promo clips please let us know as we are trying to reacquire several "lost" Casablanca Records film and videotape elements. See our Web site for more details.
