All revelation comes from the "Lauhin Mahfuz" a preserved tablet in heaven which was written in heaven before Allah created. Only the clean (Angels) may touch it.

Answer: Read the debates and the scholarly works on the preservation of the Qur'an. Arabs are an oral society, even today. :) There were many many memorizers of the Qur'an, the noble companions! The four scribes who later wrote it in book form were copied from a manuscript that was written in the time of the Prophet(pbuh) and was preserved with Hafsa(ra), and it was checked against the memories of those who had it locked in their memory!
