BucheyePrepper, the generator sits on a 3/4" plywood sheet that just lays on the 5 layers of wire and the weight of the machine holds it in place. I have chucked the wheels of the generator to keep it from rolling off the plywood.
I'm starting to construct my cage based on your design. Question: What stops the platform upon which the generator sits, from sliding on the wire screen mesh. On the video you mention that it "floats". Please advise.
I put it up on wheels just to move the generator around. The plywood on top of the layers of wire mesh is to keep the heavy generator from rubbing on the wire mesh and ruining it.
@thermax292 it does not need to be grounded, grounding/earthing it may compramise your fc: FACT: SOURCE: MR F HIMSELF + OTHER GOOGLE/YOUTUBE BITS BUT MR FARADAY IS THE MAN ON THIS.#
take any external wire of as it will act like an antenna and attract/generate just what you dont want, peace, mm

ts 1435 I put 5 on just to build it up to match the sides and top

Why the 5 sheets of screen?

I have mine grounded on its own ground rod, however I really don't know if its necessary.

Does the wire mesh need to be grounded, or is that why you placed the base platform up on wheels?

I'm so glad I found this video. I was looking for a solution for my generator.
Question: Does the cage need to be grounded?

Xringer buy far its the electronics, I don't think an EMP would effect the windings at all.

What's more of a (EMP) problem, the big coils in the generator? Or the solid state parts? Like the ignition?
