  • lol no lightning lolololol pointless video

  • @bloodshot738 you do know that the unknown soldier was in WW1 not WW2 right? no nazis in WW1 :p

  • Wouldnt that suck to train for years to do this, and no one watches you? Plus it rains....

  • @simplyskilled Doubt the guards care if they are watched or not. I'm pretty sure that its an honor to be chosen as one who guards the tomb (yes, you have to be picked).

  • i have been there and its a very serious thing, i giggle and got yelled at..

  • The top comment has the same amount of likes as the amount of days in a year...

  • @bloodshot738 - Son, all I can say is you need to pay more attention in school. Then when you graduate go straight to the nearest recruiting station and enlist. When you are done with your tour of duty. I want you to come back to this video and post what you have learned and to reread your comments below. Your apologies will be well taken and respected once you have walked in the boots of a soldier.

  • it wasnt even near the tomb -____-

  • @duhkilla1872nd Maybe you didn't see it, or maybe the frame was too slow.

  • If the VA was run by the old guard my GI Bill would always be on time. lol

  • Unknown Soldiers huh if they are unknown there are probably soldiers from diferent countries burried there probably Nazis hey its the Unknown so how they know who they have their....

  • @bloodshot738 And, why would you post this? Are you kidding me?

  • @swingbr1313 And, why would they make a place such as that if they don't know what dead people they are holding there. Huh.

  • @bloodshot738 They have an idea of who is buried, they don't know the actual identity of the soldier. Scientific analysis has shown however, that it is an AMERICAN SOLDIER. Look it up.

  • @swingbr1313

oh i see hey guys its no longer the Unknown Tomb its the American Soldier Tomb sheeeeyyaaaa right!

  • @bloodshot738 Freakin smart aleck.

  • @swingbr1313 , Y U NO GET DA CONCEPT OF IT BEING CALLED UNKNOWN SO THERE MUST BE SOLDIERS OF DIFERENT COUNTRIES THERE HURRRRRR HURRRRR

  • @bloodshot738 You are a moron... The inscription on the tomb reads, "Here Rests In Honored Glory An American Soldier Known But To God".

  • @JeffroTa Doesn't mean theres only Americans there.

  • @bloodshot738 It means exactly that.

  • @JeffroTa IT CAN SAY THAT BUT DOESN'T MEAN ITS TRUE.

  • @bloodshot738 I see... You are a child. I do not intend to play, "I know you are but what am I" with you. Grow up.

  • @JeffroTa but still not every thing in the world is correctly done. so thats my point to this.

  • @bloodshot738 From specific, idiotic accusation to weak generalization = You're arguement is weak = fail. Grow up kid.

  • @JeffroTa .................. If its unknown its unknown what people are there.

  • @bloodshot738 Unkown, it's not just a grave. It's a symbol for every single man and woman who have died serving their country.

Asking 'Why are people even bothering to guard the Tomb of the Unkown?' is like asking 'Why would someone get angry if i took a shit on their parents grave?'

  • @bloodshot738 Mostly, It's a symbol for any soldier who was ever, in a sense, "lost." The soldiers that were never found and never known of after their death on the battlefield. Almost like the POW MIA flag, "YOU ARE NOT FORGOTTEN." Even though they don't know who it is, the person won't be forgotten as a soldier.

  • @bloodshot738 It is kids like you who put my generation to shame.

  • Lighting It Is requested to stay away From the Tomb at all times thank you,

    Sincerely America

  • @paradoxparody. You left a reply to my comment. At first I wasn't going to respond because I figured you to be a young kid trying to get a rise out of someone. Using words to incite instead of inspire. The only thing that I can relate to you is that I served in a war zone. I watched young men die. Young men who felt the words of duty, honor, and country and knew that there was something greater than them for which you take a stand. This is the reason these soldiers walk their post each day.

  • And he doesn't even flinch. Badass

  • Man, I heard that once a hurricane went through DC, they STILL requested that they can stand guard despite being told not to. Pure dedication.

  • @guitarhamster102 Hurricane Irene, they stayed.

  • A soilder's death is not between and few, They die everyday. But it was in WW1 when a unknown american soilder died on the front lines....they layed him to rest in arlington. A few years ago When hurricanes threatened the tomb the guards were relived of duty and you know what they said? "No. This is the highest honor of all"

  • @joshuawglloyd how aboit you show some respect for the dead. gaurding the tomb of the unknown soldier is one of the highest honors in our country. The people in there disnt have anyone to mourn them when they died. If anyone doesnt deserve a life its you.

  • The persons dead, get a life, instead of guarding someone's tomb who has already lived. I feel sorry that these soldiers waste life patrolling a piece of stone.

  • @JoshuaWGLloyd how about you get a life and actually get some fucking respect for yourself?

  • @hisBustItBaby100 I have respect for myself but it's sad knowing they can be anything in this single life and they spend it walking up and down a tomb. If you can't see that it's stupid than you don't deserve a life.

  • @JoshuaWGLloyd At least they are standing for something. How many of us can say that we would dedicate ourselves to something honorable like that even though you are here right now saying how silly they are.. they still keep watch.. honoring the very freedom you have to sit here and say its silly.. that is why they keep watch

  • These guys are basically walking lighting rods with those M1's......

  • the old guard i respect up and beyond i have seen them in very dangerous conditions and have never seen one shrike his duty i have seen them ordered to stand down because of weather and refused to leave his post admirable

  • That's exactly what you shouldn't do in a thunderstorm, stand in an open space near big trees, with lots of water in the ground with a metal rod (gun) over your shoulder...I know the man is doing his job, but that is very dangerous!

  • @NiteOwl1224

Imagine that... being a soldier means doing dangerous stuff. Who woulda thought?

  • @Loraguy Im talking about the lightning dude

  • @Loraguy That doesn't mean we're disposable. Less than 1% of Americans do what we do. Don't forget that.

  • @Atsuma1987

My point was that standing guard at The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier is an honour that is taken very seriously... a task that is not abandoned because of inclement weather. I was belittling NiteOwl1224 because of the way he was insinuating that standing guard there in the rain was not a worthwhile task.

  • @NiteOwl1224

Well ya know what, since the soldier did something extremely dangerous for his country and we can't even identify who he is, he deserves a little bit of that same gratitude ;)

  • @Duncan7599 fuck you you stupid piece of shit how can you say say somthing like that If you don't like our military or country go live somewhere else then you will appreciate the land of the free and home of the brave you scumbag I can't wait till someone pisses on your worthless grave

  • If you can't stand behind our troops, feel free to stand in front of them.

  • @jfashner why not stand beside them and fight along side? War has been going on for as long as life has been on earth. It is not whether we stand in front of soldiers to give our lives because you claim we have nothing better to do then to complain about war and its potentially immoral terms. and it is much less about cowering behind humans who so bravely put their lives on the line. it is standing together shoulder to shoulder...

  • @jfashner that is what i all ways say love it

  • Makes ya reflect as a person how even the unknown has value. Just a quiet rainy day puts all at ease, make you feel a part of something bigger.

    R.I.P. Unknown Soldier

(side note: what's the story behind this?) Thank You.

  • @duncan7599 whats wrong with you?

  • where is that?

  • @matutee321 Washington D.C. at Arlington National Cemetery

  • I didn't even see it

  • @zoeycat77 110% agree. These soldiers are definitely among the finest in our ranks. The things these guys have to sacrifice in their day to day lives just to be a part of this great honor is amazing.

  • As a veteran I appreciate the detail that these young men have chosen to be a part of for their country. When the tourists are gone, and the rain is falling, and its 4:00 in the morning.... they are standing guard. Honoring the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. While you sleep tonight they are there. Honoring this country and the men and women who serve to protect you. I love this country. God bless these soldiers this night.

  • @zoeycat77 "God bless these soldiers this night." And for all nights to come!

  • @zoeycat77 I really never thought of it like that. I have so much respect for them now, seriously:) I'm proud to be an American

  • @zoeycat77 You know what the funny thing is? The dead soldiers don't even know that you're doing this. Even if they did the decades of seeing this would eventualy make them board. Planet earth is filled with the craziest mother fuckers you will ever see.

  • @paradoxparody .... that is one seriously stupid remark!!!! spoken with true ignorance.... the only true thing you said was "Planet earth is filled with the craziest mother fuckers you will ever see." but you failed to mention stupid and ignorant which you have shown to be a perfect example

  • @chillstatus I don't think you can call me stupid and ignorant when you spend your time worshiping dead people. Humans have a tendency of turning things into something that they're not; dressing up tombs watching somebody do a funny little march doesn't mean anything. Its all just obsessive, ritualistic activity like doing the rain dance or throwing somebody in the volcano to keep it from getting angry and destroying your town. Research the reptilian brain and you'll know what I'm talking about.

  • @paradoxparody It's not obsessive or ritualistic like a rain dance. The tomb of the unknown soldier is exactly what its name implies. The reason for the sentinal is to show a sign of respect for all the fallen soldiers whose bodies were never recovered or never known. It's not worship, it's respect, there's a big difference.

  • @22fenderocker Yeah there is a difference between respect and worship, when you go to the extremes that you do I'm surprised that you don't set up an alter and offer up your first born child. I guarantee you if an Unknown Soldier rose up from the dead and saw how irrational you people are he would laugh himself back to death.

  • @paradoxparody Spoken like someone who has NEVER served ANY MILITARY.... What is "irrational" about a fellow Soldier standing guard as a form RESPECT & HONOR for a fallen Soldier? I can Guarantee YOU that if that Soldier rose from his grave he would be THANKFUL that even though his name is unknown he is still being REMEMBERED AND APPRECIATED for giving his life for what he believed and for his country! A sence of Code, Honor & Pride that YOU will NEVER understand...

  • @22fenderocker exactly, it is no different than the Eternal Flame in respectful memorial for President Kennedy. Remember every time that you look at our Flag that the Red represents the blood spilled by those countless individuals working toward a common cause: Liberty.

  • @paradoxparody sorry ... the Reptilian Brain Complex Theory does not apply in this particular case.... there is nothing or anyone being "worshiped" here... there is certainly no "funny little march" going on either. NO ONE is forcing you to go or even watch videos of the the Tomb of the Unknown, hell your not even being invited to watch or attend so why waste your time even commenting? oh wait u may comment all u want... it is a right provided by ppl like that unknown soldier

  • @zoeycat77 To add: The young men who are guarding the tomb are the same young men who guard their own, in hostile countries and terrible weather and while being shot at. They also will lay down their lives for their fellow soldier. There is no greater honor than what our military personnel do.

  • IT IS REQUESTED THAT LIGHTING AVOID THE TOMB AT ALL TIMES.

  • @grey716 Fuck I lol'd

  • @grey716 lmao

  • @grey716 Ha I bet the thunder whould listen to

  • @grey716 I bet you it will now.

  • @grey716 That Lightning had shut up right quick lol wow.

  • @grey716 HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

  • @grey716 Absolutely!

  • @grey716 ROFLCOPTER!

  • @grey716 LOL

  • @grey716 great spelling.

  • Rifles are not loaded, as seen during the changing of the guard, they inspect the rifle like a real inspection, and look to see no rifle is clambered. But some have said they carry a stripper clip of rounds. No side arm. And local park police are also on sight.

  • are these guys rifle's actually loaded?

  • @mbc14k not entirely sure, but they do carry sidearms.

  • @mbc14k yes they are

  • @mbc14k Maybe a single round in the chamber, but I doubt it.

  • @lanz0r4tehwin i doubt he would miss

  • @mbc14k Considering the dude would be 20ft from him. I doubt we would miss.

  • @lanz0r4tehwin we? are you a guard?

  • @mbc14k I'm just a dude who knows which end the bullet comes out of a rifle

  • There is something definitely wrong with people who laugh, make fun of and disrespect our fallen soldiers. Where is the respect, honor and thoughts of the good that our soldiers did for us? Are we truly thankful for what they have done? Do we honor their memory or just push them aside? Would our soldiers disrespect us in this way? It's a sad day when our people turn their backs on those who gave their lives that we might be free.

  • I really don't think that anyone out there in the "Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave" even knows why there is a guard at the Tomb of the Unknowns. That guard at the Tomb represents each and every life that was lost in the defense of this country. As they, those dead who once stood between our nation and the madmen of the world who want to do us harm, now stands the silent guard keeping vigil over those who gave their all so that we may remain free. He is there for those still living.

  • There's something emotional? inspirational? about this video. The weather is terrible and no one is watching, but the guard goes on with his duty

  • @320k That's military bearing for you. Huzzah!

  • you cant be afraid of lightning if you want to be that guard:P

  • there was no lightning

  • so does there need to be a guard there 24/7?

  • @TheDudeFrom0Z Its a matter of tradition and honor. These guys that do it are pretty damned dedicated.

  • Comment removed

  • @TheDudeFrom0Z Some have stayed there to guard it in the middle of a hurricane before...

  • People can't understand the honor of the tomb and those who guard it.

  • I sure hope the shit I'm not paying for this fella's health insurance, walking around in the rain and lightning.

  • @Mindraker1 If you live in the United States, which I am assuming you do, then this man, and his brothers in arms, pay for your "health insurance" everyday with their undying duty and willingness to die for pieces of shit like you.

  • @ProudSouthernKid *Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzaaaaaaaaap!*

  • I don't think it's worth risking someone's life to guard this Tomb. You might say that's disrespectful of the Tomb, but allowing someone to guard it during a lightening storm is disrespectful of their life.

  • @alashabibti Not really, they know what they're getting into beforehand.

  • @alashabibti It is his duty to protect The Tomb. He has no choice if its raining or not it makes no difference. The Tomb is a memorial to all the missing and dead soldiers of all our wars. Its not one persons tomb. That is sacred ground and he has a sacred duty. And its one of if not the most honorable jobs in the entire armed forces.

  • @alashabibti "lightening"? I think you need some EN-lightening. Tomb Guard duty is an honor and a privilege for which these men train extensively. They know from the outset that they will stand their post regardless of the weather.

  • @alashabibti He has a choice. This is the duty he chose.

  • @alashabibti Its a matter of honor and there were guards guarding the tomb in the middle of a hurricane before you have to be a tough bastard to do this.

  • @alashabibti thats why they are guarding it and not you.

  • It's a memorial to all our soldiers who are Mia/pow and where never found. It's a sad place

  • What's the tomb of the unknown?

  • @AsianBoy9thst It is a soldier who fought in ww1 and died and was never i.d. Its a sad place and a very beautfull amry base.

  • bayanet?... that's it... you must be able to spell and put three dots after an idea to use the internet!... (dot dot dot)

  • I imagine that people that live in an area where there is rain, lightning and thunder for 8 out of 12 months would be completely used to it, especially when trying to maintain a disciplined demeanor.

  • @LamboidSuture

No, but they have the sense to go inside. I have lived in the tropics for a while and it amazes me how people from outside think that locals are impervious to the regions regular weather. You won't believe how many people think that dark skinned people don't sunburn because they are "used to it". No, they just go inside or out of the sun during the peak UV Hours. Same with lightning. People still get killed by lightening, regardless of skin color or being used to the weather

  • So where is the lighting strike?

  • with the bayanet attached, doesn't that make the gaurd like a human lightening rod?

  • @ScientificalnessUSA wat does that have to do with this video?

  • Good Bless Those Men

  • @Chaotic841 You could read the video info next time. The "lightening" was just off screen.

  • @cruiznsd51 yeah and in my videos kim kardashian is naked "off screen"

    homo

  • @Chaotic841 Look at the description. At first I was wondering where the lightning was too. Just look at the sky until you see something yellow. :)

  • @Chaotic841 your choice of words and your spelling mirror your IQ. Pathetic!

  • Comment removed

  • What are they guarding the tomb from ?

    The easter bunny ?

    The tooth fairy ?

    Snooki ?

  • @VeteransAgainstKonop they are guarding the tombe in honer of all military soldiers who defend our nation they are also guarding the tombe for the unknown soldiers because THEY ARE UNKNOWN,,,they died for our country and they have not been Identified so in honer of the soldiers that died for our country that have not yet been Identified ,,we guard the tombe,,a salute the soldiers whos names are not known,,,PEACE

  • the unknown soldiers tombe i will never forget during my lifetime it was opened up under bill clinton the vietnam soldier was Identfied and he was taken home to be buried with his family,,his burial happend on my birthday,,,the unknown soldiers tombe will never be unsealed again,,,it is historical that in my life time I had witnessed the unknown soldiers tombe opened up,,it will never be opened again,,,im only 47 years old

  • @Dolphindream15 It will in fact be opened again, because I will exercise the powers of the executive office myself, and have it opened again, when I become president of the United States, and the New World Order.

Yes, it will be opened again. -- Thank you very much.

  • Suicide much! holdin a medle pole!

  • Thank you soldier in the rain. Thank you unknown soldier. You two are why America will always be free.

  • @Houdini774 Wrong wrong wrong. Military do not protect your freedom. When was the last time Amerika got invaded ?

  • @777NVN you can suck a cock. hmm i sure remember something happening in 2001 but based off your spelling your probably to damn stupid to consider that and that if we aren't protecting your freedom it would of happened again. stupid puck, why don't you you just die cause every breath you take is one wasted that a proud american could be using.

  • @beutlerdavid2009 You are a retard troll shit eater, go suck you r dad's dick boy. The military never never have protect anyone freedom so get it right moron. You're so fucking stupid that you're about to live in a fascist country and you don't even know it. You know what? You and your dumb redneck stupid fuck deserved Homeland security, TSA, CIA, rouge cops on your ass. LOL at the troll.

  • @777NVN

You just proved the point. The reason we don't get invaded: Geography and a Military have would obliterate most possible enemies. Without a military, Honduras could attack us. So you think that a major power wouldn't The best deterrent is a powerful standing military READY to liquidate all comers. It has served us well.

  • uhhh maybe I missed something but I did not see lightening strike near the Tomb, I did see lightening flash in the horizon

  • hmmm...I didnt see i?

  • Thank you soldier, whoever you are, for standing and marching there in the rain for the unknowns. and Americans like myself.

  • ok guys, why is there a competition of who here was in the armed services and had a tough life, i haven't had that misfortune of a shitty life or serving in the military , but im sure some of you people make up stories of heroism and such, and to be completely honest, what soldier boasts about what he did in the time of his service

  • I kinda don't understand why is everyone hating the guy right now.. pardon my ignorance but.. what's the offense? I don't know much about US history or better yet it's monuments.. it's that an important monument or something?

  • @habbie7 This monument symbolizes all that have been lost fighting in the war that couldn't be identified. If you still don't care for this monument, then let me ask you this. How would you feel if you died and no one knew who you were, just as in the monument , but someone disrespects you and asks "Why is this person important?", or "What's the point of this person being here?', which is basically what you just asked. So the next time someone talks shit about a monument, it's there for a reason

  • @lolismaniac123 though i agree that people who disrespect what these soldiers died for are a-grade social refuse, i should like to point out that THOUSANDS of people die every day with that exact same position.... have you SEEN the number of unnamed graves in Normandy? Or how about of course thousands of people who contribute to the economy of Western countries on minimum wage, living their own insular lives until they die and are buried un-remarked in a state-paid grave...

  • @Voltaire152 What I'm saying is don't disrespect monuments. I'm not saying that the people that have died from the reasons you have said, so try not to talk shit when it's of another topic. The people that have died should be respected but none of the leaders of countries do anything to help out with memorials and monuments. They act is if they are too poor when they probably spend most of the money to enjoy themselves.

  • @lolismaniac123 that's not what I asked. I never actually said or implied that I didn't care about the monument. I later read about it and, yes, it's a very important message. so, before hanging me along with the previous hated guy.. analyze what I actually asked.

  • Yes, no luck soldier.

  • Look, a robot!

  • Shit during Hurricane Isabelle, there were still sentinels guarding the tomb and two trees fell on the north east side of the plaza.

  • Benrfc... as a former tomb gaurd I would like to say thank you for your service. now shut your fucking mouth and stop fishing for thank you's from people. AND THINK before you decide that everyone needs to hear your opinion on the video quality... douchebag. And btw. i SERIOUSLY doubt you've seen more gaurd changes than i've had hot showers since i take one everyday

  • Fail. "Had I tilted the camera to the right about 10 degrees .." Excuses! There was no bolt.

  • As it is the Guard I don't believe has an order to shoot on site but they will tackle you or hit you with their weapon if you cross the chains and rails, but only at that moment otherwise no they do not shoot. Lastly, all you people saying the Unknown Tomb or the Guard is stupid please stop it's very offensive to me and I'm sure to other people as well. Guarding the Tomb is an Honor, not a Privilege or a Right. It's very disrespectful to our lost fallen brothers in arms.

  • @benrfc i hate you.

  • @xlexipexi what did he say?

  • @kayleehanks he said "this is a shit monument". it's not a "shit monument". it means something.

  • @xlexipexi wow he is some SOB i'll tell you what

  • @kayleehanks YEAH!

  • @benrfc You're going to hell...pretty simple

  • @logan7b no you cant go to hell unless your not a christian or whatevr not because you think a video is dumb. i mean reall do you know your facts. i find it funny how ppl say "your going to hell when you die" when all they did was say a video was dumb or whatever. And dont write back to me because all your doing is showing me you dont have a life

  • @benrfc Yep, what logan7b said. You're going straight to hell.

  • @benrfc A great American writer said that it is better to be thought of as a fool than to open one's mouth and remove all doubt. In your case, that should be amended to "before you type something foolish on the internet".

  • ♞♞♞♞♞♞♞♞ Appealing to a totalitarian regime's humanitarian/egalitarian/humanitarian mercies won't keep your cocoanuts intact, uncracked and otherwise marketable. Apologists for the police, and the imminent police-state, you have no credibility. Their position will not provide for immunity. They shall be placed in concentration camps too.

  • @ScientificalnessUSA what the fuck are you babbling about?

  • @benrfc how dare you disrespect the United States of America and the people who ave protect YOU yes YOU and ALL OF US you should burn in hell and leave the United States of America and give up your citizenship because that is like saying 9/11 didn't happen and far worse than that you deserve to go to hell

  • @benrfc Wow, you're a prick.

  • @benrfc communist piece of shit

  • 228 kids hiding behind daddies computer talking shit on a video like this. Amazing. Oh well....our military will continue to protect said kids rights to be idiots and not ask for a thank you in return. It's what we do.

  • @TMWTim -_- people like you just make me laugh
