I think that was well said...It helped me and its been years since high school for me...I have had my natural curls for about 3 years and was thinking of switching to locs but I get mixed reactions when I mention it to others so im kinda torn. This is something that I have gave some thought and would really like to try it but still not sure. Any thoughts?
@mrskwoods My thoughts about this are very simple.... Go for it!!! At the end of the day, the opinion that matters the most is yours. Ultimately you just have to weight which is most valueable to you: The opinion of others or your opinion of yourself :)
OMG ...my son has naturally curly hair and is proud of it and wears it natural....the kids for the most part are cool with it. They are down with his individuality...but he actually had a teacher( a female teacher) object to his hair. She was African American also...so I had no understanding to her saying anything to him. She said he looked un-kept....really!!! He washes & conditions his hair daily. Come on man...when are we going to stop hate'in..I love natural..curly..kinky hair more power!
@trixiegirl63 Usually when other African Americans put down another African American's hair, it's because they're not comfortable with their own.... At least that has been my experience personally. So happy that your son doesn't let anything like that get to him!! Being black is beautiful.... and so is everything that comes with it :)
Great advice especially for young ladies!!!
