  • Gian Gorg sure is a step up from Astroganga

  • how many robot songs MIO did?

  • Galvion, L-gaim songs are awesome! I have a cassete tape with different versions of these and other songs. I will post soon.

  • @22CSX23 First of all these animes were from 1984, not 89. Secondily, Miaaccount seemed to have only made videos of Super Robot shows 'they' remember, leaving out many other robot shows from the 80's.

  • @David315842 The user is also 'very' misinformative for example Galvion was animated by Kokusai Eigasha and not Tatsunoko.

  • I remember "Holynight Bismarck History" as "Saber Rider" in America! Wow that one brought back a whole lot of old memories!

  • what is the name of the show where 3 combine into one robot, depending on which is on top makes the robot different. Another thing is it turns into a bird type with flames to zoom into the enemy, any help please, thanks

  • I'm unsure of that second one, but the first show you described is Getter Robo that was made in the 70's and had several sequels and OVA's made since then.

  • Ah you may be thinking of Trider G7 perhaps?

  • IMHO if a series is written, or the character design is done outside japan, but the animation is done in japan it IS technically anime. Which means Thundercats, original transformers, original gi joe, and the galaxy rangers still fall under the anime umbrella.

  • The storys, acting, music etc. was done in America for many cartoons, however Japanese studios were called in to produce a variety of the work, while some stuff like Thundercats resemble an anime, other shows animated in Japan don't resemble it as such, like TMS's work for the Disney Afternoon shows. Technically if a show is animated AND produced in Japan, then it is a true anime and not a joint production!

  • anime music in mid 80s is so cool! nice bass line. Very different from the 70s.

  • Miaaccount bodged it again, Galvion is made by Kokusai Eigasha, not Tatsunoko!

  • holynight bismarck is knowed in venezuela as jinete sable (saber rider)

  • the same in Greece

  • Wow Japanese anime had better anime and songs then anyone els in the 80's

  • Anime comes from Japan.

  • wait was that a question? if it was a statement I already new

  • It wasen't a question. You said 'Japanese anime had better anime' like you were using the term for animation in general. Though we just used the term 'anime' for cartoons from Japan only. Everything else is a cartoon or animation.

  • Oh I just now realized my mistake thank you Wow Japanese anime had better animation and songs then anyone else in the 80's (maybe not music)

  • It's OK. ^_^

  • In France, any cartoon is called anime as well. Don't think it's exclusive to Japan.

  • Erm, quite a few countries use the term Anime, as the word orginated in Japan!

  • Well, not in France's case. The term Dessin Animé has always existed and it didn't originate from Japan.

  • Just because the word uses a French accented E dosen't mean that it is French in origin. True the traditional Japanese word is 'Doga', but Anime, is a typical Japanese abbreviation of the English word Animation. Go to Wikipedia and see what I mean.

  • I never said that the term originated from France. What I meant is France's term animé didn't originate from Japan. I don't know where it comes from, but I'm sure as you said it comes from the word animation, which is a french word as wel.

  • OK then. :)

  • Ok. Which is why you can use the term french anime, or american anime. I like japanese comics as well, and it's true that at one point, they produced 60% of the world's cartoons. However, fans just make the term sacred, as if only japanese animation deserves to be called anime, and the rest can be trashed. I hate this mentality. Both America are catching up with series like Avatar, or french-jap productions like Oban Racers or even french anime, Wakfu. Oh and by the way, I'm not French.

  • The Japanese don't actually use that term for their own cartoons, the term is mainly used to describe foreign animation, and yes I checked your profile, you're not French.

  • Actually I think they do since I saw it written sometimes in the ending or opening credits. But I think they're more used to just "comics".

  • Well that's how the term was first coinmed in Japan, but they do tend to use it more often for their own work nowadays that's true.

  • Oh and Japanese 'comics' are called Manga.

  • Yes, but they use comics as well. Also did you know that in France, they use the term manga for both the animation and the comics?

  • japanese animation and comics I meant.

  • Ok, but that would technicaly be inacurate. But there you go.

  • I cant stop but noticing most of the old robot anime op have the scene of human character running (mostly). Whats up wit that

  • god mazinger seemed more like credits... lol

  • i love big robot anime. im gonna check the others out and some episodes of tis stuff. Alot of the mid 80's jap anime was awesome. i love the artwork style and everything. thanks for posting this

  • And the (1/13) & (3/13) ???

  • That Galvion intro is cool. nice slappin' on the bass dude!

  • Galvion OP is so sweet. The bass slaps is so catchy.

  • that galvion beat is soooooo poppin!!!

  • thats some funky bass

  • someone should sell this entire set 1-13 with those of the last years 1997-200? as a DVD, this all brings back great memories

  • do you know if they have galient or holynight bismarck with english subtitles? i looked on ebay and there was nothing

  • Bismarck is Saber Rider in USA so you can find it on englsih dub

  • loco el guen anime de los tiempos de antaño..

  • arent u missing Cavalry Southern Cross??

  • That's on the previous video. Miraculasily that was one anime miaacount didn't leave out!

  • God... Mazinger... The last mazinger series i havent seen.... WHERE DID YOU GET IT I NEED TO SEE THAT SERIES!!! XD

  • It's only on DVD in Japan in a very pricy box set and no it hasen't been comissioned for a release outside Japan yet.

  • Saber Rider and The Star Sheriffs lol

  • It is another work, but L-Gaim is special animation for a person knowing The Five Star Stories.

  • My God!! isn't that Saber Rider & the Star Sherrifs?!

  • Yup!

  • HELP

im looking for a anime where 1 guy lives with 3 chicks. But the chicks are androids !!

PLEASE TELL ME THE NAME OF THE ANIME

  • Saber marionette

  • Sabre Marionette J

  • Yup, this was about the time Mecha started getting cool again.

  • Gorg's got a gun! :]

I dig the Galient opening theme.

  • I think Galvion was cancelled half way into its run.

Too bad I really dig the mecha designs. There was a prototype chogokin that never got made into production.

  • Bismark has a space cowboy with a laser gun and a robot knight riding a robot horse...that is just too much win.

  • you might remember the localization with an even more win theme song... Saber Rider and the Star Sheriffs. In the Sky!

  • That was heartwarming to see. Galvion looked espesially good, and I just love all of the songs for the opening themes! Even though, I must admit God Mazinger's opening is a bit dull...Oh well!

  • another idiot

  • youre an idiot

  • That Bismarc one looked like a cassette player. :D

  • how i can find galvion to download , intro or episodes?

please send me good links !

  • The opening songs of L-Gaim, God Mazinger, Giant Gorg and Star Warrior Bismark are great! :D

  • Seijushi Bismarck - Saber Rider is cool ^^

  • Great Mazinger is cool ^^

  • Galvion's theme sounds like Michael Jackson's "Beat It" a bit.

  • Amazing compliation. It makes you wonder if there will be another anime year like 1984 again.

  • Whoa...I'm in awe. This is a reminder of how bad anime sucks these days. Every show in that video looks fucking tops.

  • so that's what giant gorg looks like, a bit gundamish...

  • Thats because Yoshikazu Yasuhiko who did the Original Gundam characters designed it. He was Chief Director, Original creator, Character Design, Animation director on Giant Gorg

  • (continued) as well as the folowwing Wandering Sun (Sasurai no Taiyo) (1971) Space Cruiser Yamato Brave Raideen Wanpaku Omukashi Kumkum Combattler-V Zambot 3 Crusher Joe Mobile Suit Gundam Arion (anime) (1986 - Director, Character Designer) Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam (Character Designer) Venus Wars (1989 - Original Story, Director, Character Designer) Mobile Suit Gundam F-91 (Character Designer)
  • Galvion is the rarest of all the mech shows from the 80's.

It hasn't been released on dvd in Japan and LD's are almost non existant.

  • It probably will eventually come out on DVD, most shows nowadays are coming to DVD.

  • God Mazinger has got to have the most boring opening theme of any giant robot anime. Poor stone robot.

Galient's op cracks me up with those still shots of the protagonist looking surprised.

I remember Saber Riders. Not much of it, but I remember it.

My best friend should totally dig Galvion. He loves transforming robots and he loves racing. I'll have to show him this. I should be looking into finding episodes, myself. I'm intrigued.

    Thank you!

  • I am forced to respectfully agree with you; watching the opening sequence for God Mazinger is about as much fun and excitement as watching paint dry. "Giant Gorg" on the other hand, embodies all that is decent and noble about the human experience.

  • bismarck? that was saber rider back then!

  • i can't see what god mazinger looks like

  • Nice compilation! I've always wanted to see what Galvion was about, and it looks funky-cool! However, FYI, Galvion is from Kokusai-Eigasha, like the J9 series. Too bad Kokusai went belly-up in the mid 80's. Wonder who has the rights to their stuff?
