  • CONT : I wish to learn from this agonizing injustice - Wilde was victimized by bigotry and xenophobia... so, who are the equally persecuted now? and how can we elaborate upon Oscar Wilde's brilliance and mental lucidity by fully and thoroughly embracing the "outcast" of today?

  • Oscar Wilde was clearly one of very few historical geniuses, and I don't use that phrase lightly ... so I can't help but wonder: what are the unwarranted restrictions of today? With informed hindsight and over 100 years of clarity of reflection, we can easily grasp the severe injustice imbued upon Wilde in his day - but I seriously ask you, and not rhetorically, how are we tainted today in our own way? I watched this documentary, and was very deeply moved ... but as a heterosexual, I wish to le

  • I don't think I've cried this much in a long time.

  • Thank you for posting this documentary.

  • just as moving as the actual "Wilde" film

  • Thank you for uploading this, really enjoyed watching it

  • thanks a lot for this. excellent, touching and human documentary

  • If oscar was shackled than the prisoners were more enjoyable than the modern

  • so sad...

  • he was a beautiful bird that fell to the ground

  • @IIIdobyIII I agree, but I would add that he was a beautiful bird who fell to the ground because some rotten boys threw rocks at him until they hit him. He fell and lay stunned for awhile, then got up only to find he could no longer fly. So he walked about on the ground with all the lowly and base things of life for a time, but soon died from a broken heart, because beautiful birds who sing sublime songs are not meant to dwell in the dirt of the world.

  • @talitakoomi

Your comment is of a rare preciousness.....Sir. I wil consider it as a convenient metaphore. Heartfelt thanks!*

  • Some people greatness is not realize during their life time but after their death they are the rising sun who shows lights to the coming generation and Oscar Wilde is one of them .

  • Is that Sir John Gielgud?

  • yes i remember this from 1995 100 years from the trial

  • Thank you very much, for posting this program about Oscar Wilde! He was an genius man and writer! He is my favorite writer and I`m very interesting in his biography, because he was lived very hard, but very bright life! Thank you for upload it, again!

  • @munkstaven "the fag part?" What a profoundly blind and retarded statement!

Such stupidity is without equal in the entire history of human relations

  • It is difficult (but not so much) to imagine the disgrace a individual could suffer from such life choices and circumstances....all can resonate with the sting of pain...but few understand its beauty...thank-you so much for posting...

  • Thank you for uploading this; it was interesting to hear from Wilde's grandson. A minor editorial correction: this cannot be from 1985. In one segment, you hear Jude Law (not as a boy, but as a grown man) reciting Lord Alfed Douglas' words. And the date at the end is 1995.

  • Thank you for posting this beautiful documentary of Wilde's life - I am so disappointed that there are no comments here, but I still hope someone will always appreciate Wilde through the years.
