you cant compare The Rev to Chris Adler its two different genres, two different playing styles, A7X is hard rock/metal where as LoG is Heavy Metal, A7X has more of a classical sound to their songs where as LoG is brutal and in your face. I really like LoG and I love Avenged Sevenfold I've seen both bands live its not a real fair comparison in my opinion.

For him to even be IN the competition against people like that, with so much more experience, is surely a testament to how good he was. And if he hadn't died, how many more awards would he have been legible for? I'll say that this is repayment for the awards he WOULD'VE won.

Now if we put him against Keith Moon who is younger, more inexperienced...Moon will earn it because he's more talented and he holds more diversity. So yes The Rev was an overrated drummer but he seemed like a great guy. In context, in the '80s when Lombardo was about 24, he made his mark in drumming history with Reign In Blood. The Rev never did.

@solonaviavenger The only reason why I like The Rev is that he's able to write some good songs and he can make simple drumming techniques such as the 'double oct' sound good. But Chris Adler is better with double bass and toms overall, he is able to play heavier too. Dave Lombardo is just a beast man. Besides innovating the double bass, he's probably the fastest of our time and he has pioneered thrash metal drumming, Lombardo deserved it over The Rev for sure. Dave Grohl is very good too.
