  • leaning back is fine, if they throw a hook and you lean away, then you can use your core and hip rotation to explode back and give your opponent a good shot. just make sure he isnt going to throw a few punches downstairs.

  • dont box if u arent prepaperd to take a few hits

  • How to get prepared?

  • haha it does look like calzaghe

  • is this calzaghe? it looks like him

  • Was that a young Calzaghe..?

  • this is a good video, i need to learn to keep my chin down at all times, i keep gettin punched in the throat

  • Trying doing this. We do it at my boxing gym. Get a tennis ball and put it under your chin and press down then do some shadow boxing and try to move around and throw punches.

  • hey great stuff, is this just upper body movements you do here? and if i incoparate it with lower body, is that good or bad? cos i might start amateur soon, and i want to practice my elusiveness

  • nice

  • no a straight punch on your head. You turn away so it will hit your shoulder, and you can easelly counter attack that way

  • wat a bewt

  • Are you defending against a body shot in the last one?

  • great job.

  • I see you're bobbing there, hope those watching understand that you are going down at a 45 degree angle from the punch. Also, that they understand to bury their chin in the shoulder for the roll.

  • what do you mean by going down at a 45 degree angle?

  • There are two ways to slip, by bobbing down to the left or right (not too far!) and by simply moving side to side.

  • hey im going to start boxing soon so how much do u get hurt????

  • that depends how much you get hit!

  • don't be a sissy. you are eventually going to get hit, and hard at that. if you can't handle that, don't box.

  • If you're worried about this, then do pilates or yoga

  • 45 degree down and back or down and to the side?

  • Never lean back.

  • I dont know why some people say dont lean back. I've been told my coaches that its fine to fall back and counter.

  • It's fine if you are 6'3" and your opponent is 5'5"! I do not advise leaning back to avoid a punch. You'll be off balanced and exposed.

  • thanks!
