As a Lolita, I must point out that Lolitas do NOT have to act "proper" and "elegant." That's a stereotype picked up by cosplay "ita lolitas," and is NOT true. Lolitas can act however they want, the clothes don't mean you have to act like a Lolita robot. Saying otherwise shows you don't know the style. I'm a lifestyle Lolita, but I don't act all "proper" all the time. Do your research.

Actualy these days i am a lolita! and i follow the rules rather strictly, I do have the right to say it, as its a culture i love and hate to see it practicully insulted. I love lolitas as a consept not a style, Any girl with a frilly dress shouldn't call themself a lolita.

I agree with you on the frilly dress part. I myself does think it's important to follow the dress code like always having a blouse under a jumperskirt or not to try and be sexy for example. However, how a person acts is up to them. I still think lolitas shouldn't be rude and alike, but not just because they're lolitas. I personally follow 'the rules' of the sub category sweet lolita, but only since I acted that way before I became lolita.

I am probably one of the few lifestyle lolitas on the world but even though I am supposed to be "sweet and nice" and what not, it does not mean I cant have the ability to defend myself if I feel threatened. @BELL5ROSE there are some rules. but they mainly apply to the outfits of lolita's. like the dresses should be made of good cotton material. though you can have some cheap lace here and there. but there are NO rules to the behavior or a lolita. a lolita can act in any way she wants. heck she could even get into a fist fight. does that make her any less lolita? NO. some people do prefer to act more elegant. but there are NO rules as to how a lolita should behave.

Well, lolita is a style and a lifestyle. Being a lolita in the lifestyle would mean being elegant, proper at times, but not the style. Heck, it's partially based off of rococo, which is 18th century french royalty, and they sure party hard, one queen even lost her head for it, yet she is idolized in lolita community.
