Download "Media Browser" (plugin for WMC)  and then "Media Center Master" do get all covers, information about the actors etc for all your movies. Works gr8 for me :D

nice finds as MC is a bit clunky. I opted for a dedicated PC running Linux (Mythbuntu) as I didn't want to pay £100 for Windows (Linux being Open Source and free to use) and although it took a bit of figuring out but the functionality is brilliant for all things media related, runs like a dream using my dual-tuner Hauppage card

You can now also use XBMC thats a media centre original for the old XBOX.

But it is now availible for windows and linux to. Works very good.

(XBMC on pc i use right mouse button for context menu and on my XBOX i use th 'title' button on the original-xbox remote.

Yeah, it is a pain in the ass to set it up. But I love it. It's much better than WMP or Winamp. It has a nice looking interface, and the Media Library and organization is a hell of a lot better. And considering how much music I listen to, that really comes in handy for me.

There are also a few other neat features like local weather information and forecasts. But the only thing I don't like about this program, the window is too large. There's no compact mode or anything. :-(

media portal from what I understand was originally xbmc, but they took it in a different path. IMO, media portal does alot lot more than xbmc including streaming. so no need for a seperate server like tversity.

There's a BIG difference between these 2.

GBpvr is compatible with Windows2000 and up.

MediaPortal is only compatible with WinXP and up.

In my opinion, MediaPortal, should be compatible with Win2000, XP, 7 and Ubuntu.

Mostly because Ubuntu is Popular and has the so, much support.

Having tried Vista MC, MediaPortal, GBPVR and XBMC, XBMC frankly blows the rest out of the water for slickness.

All it lacks is PVR functionality, which, when i last tried it on Mediaportal was horrendously buggy and unusable anyway.

If needing DVR functionality, GBPVR is stable as can be. I've been using it for HDTV watching and recording for 2+ years now.

Setup may be a little rough for new people since it is a truly international program that can be used all over the world -- but, really, the hardest part is getting the TV guide to work, and that can be easy too if you don't mind paying a few bucks for a non-free provider.

TV, movies, radio, netradio, pictures, networked, stable, GBPVR is very underrated.

XBox 360 has all the media center functionality except for TV. It can act as a media director using material stored elsewhere on the network. Some folks are working to get XBMC on regular (old) XBoxes to dovetail with MediaPortal on your PC, but that's not yet come about.

You have to buy Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition. I think it also comes in Vista but not sure, if it does, than it's probably in the Home Edition.

He clearly states (and accurately so) that MS Media Center is NOT available for purchase as a separate install for XP user, only comes on pre-built Media Center PCs.

WMC is available in Vista Home Premium and Ultimate. Win7 will include it in the most common SKU. *sigh*, WMC in the Win7 beta fails to configure on my computer, built as an HP media center PC for Windows Home Premium. But, joy! MediaPortal works a charm installed on Windows 7 beta.
