  • Trashglobe continues to be allowed to rent to people, collect evidence and take them to which place you need

  • TRANBSGLOBE sucks. I also lived in one of the building in OTTAWA and finally moved out . This is NOT A SLUM becuase u don't pay for living in the SLUM

The poor refugees and Somalia are filling this building likes cattle's.

  • .......and it doesn't help that everything that is on there so called lease agreement is a real joke there are only 4 sections that has to do with them everything else is up to the tenant, me and my roommate are planing to move out by the end of march 2011. I do have to agree with the one guy that Transglobe are slumlords, me and my neighbors call them Slumlord International cause that is what they amount to.

  • Here is the latest with Transglobe, the appartment building on Rundlehorn Dr. NE Calgary have for most of this Winter have had little to no heat and it dosn't help that Transglobe has provided Mini Heaters that only do so much. Some of the tenants have to have them going 24/7 racking up there power bill in excess of $200 a month. Myself and a hand full of tenants are not paying rent for this fact, I welcome a lawsute if that is what they want to push for.........More.........

  • All you whiners that have been complaining that things have not been done for months: DONT WAIT FOR MONTHS. You wait 2-3 weeks and if things havn't been done you take them to the Landlord and Tenant Board (or your provinces equivalent). MAKE THEM GET IT DONE. They will let it slide unless you get it enforced.

Don't be a doormat any longer. You have rights, excercise them.

  • @Andralynn I don't think calling your fellow tenants whiners is particularly useful. I do not think I was a doormat, and used both municipal and provincial resources in my favour. Even then, it took many months, and too many hours of my own personal time. My application to the LTB is a few years ago, and I hope things have changed, but I was not impressed by the efficiency nor effectiveness of the LTB to hold landlords like TG accountable for people in my situation.

  • For the record, I've posted the video, but didn't live in this building, check out my other video.

  • @darealwiggum I live in London Ont & just moved into 520 Mornington , it has been hell since I moved in, never got a proper inspection of my unit & I have have phoned Toronto Head office & just get the runaround, I would like to start a Tenant Association would anyone

like to join me (:) George

  • @Andralynn I was mostly talking to the people putting in maintenance request after maintenance request unending for months, without exercising their legal rights, expecting something to happen by only filing out a maintenance request with the company.

  • @Andralynn do you not live in canada? do you know how inefficient anything governmental is? landlord tenant board is run by fregging morons who postpone everything so you have to keep coming back. they make more money that way

  • Transglobe has not changed the least bit that I can tell you from my personal experiance.

  • I live in a Transglobe building in St Catharines where I regularly face the issue of broken elevators, 8 hours of water shutdowns, and personally i have a broken tap and a malfunctioning light unit for over 2 months now. I really hope this company fails or faces a huge lawsuit!!

  • Why would you expect to be compensated by the landlord for your loss of furniture ? Get Tenant insurance. It is not like the Landlord put the bedbugs in the building.

  • landlords are responsible for clearing infestations in their buildings just like any other maintenance issue. failure to take appropriate action should result in some compensation to the tenants if they lost reasonable use of their unit or property.

it's also more than likely that the people in this video didn't bring the bed bugs into their units either, and i'm really unsure if most tenant's insurance even covers claims due to infestations.

  • Shouldn't tenants be responsible for ensuring their apartment is clean. If i had bedbugs in my apartment I would ensure "I" get it treated. This is a health issue and "i" woiuld ensure me and my family is living in a CLEAN, HEALTHY environment,

A far as maintenance issues such as a leaking pipes or the bathtub stopper is broken, than i would expect the Landlord to fix.

It surprises me that there are tenants that will not take "OWNERSHIP" of a CLEANING or HEALTH issue in thier apt.

  • @Sevilea It doesn't always work that way. I live in a Transglobe building and we had ants there for months. We had several ant traps down and refilled them but the ants didn't go away. Is that a problem with my apartment, or is it that because of the nature of a building, one person's dirty apartment leads to ands in the whole building? Also, not everyone can afford to throw down cash to get their apartment fumigated, least of all people living in low-income housing like Transglobe's buildings.

  • If you LIKE having undue stress caused by your home rent with Transglobe: elevators that don't work, unkempt main areas, laundry machines that don't work, repairs that don't get done, etc, etc....Otherwise run.

  • 955 Huron St. London, ON - Elevator does not work, bathroom fan does not work (mold grows as a result), the creepy landlord has tried entering without giving notice. They raise the rent whenever they feel like it. TERRIBLE company, too bad students and people need a place to live so bad that we are subjected to this company. Would love to see them go bankrupt and bought out by a company that will actually take care of the place.

  • User mikelopi posted this comment today, and then deleted it within a few minutes (unaltered):

"i think that transglobe does a good job i have bin with them for like 8 years and i have never ever had a problem with them this video is trash and probably a fake that someone has added to be a tool i think that they you all were problem tenents that never paid your rent or just like to complain about everything and it is like the boy who cried wolf so grow up and act your age here."

    not my comment.

  • My response to mikelopi:

Although, I don't live in the building in the video, I did take Transglobe to the LTB, and won, so obviously the adjudicator agreed with my complaint. I doubt you've ever lived in a Transglobe building. Prove to me otherwise.

  • Just as a side note to my other inline comment, there was another comment for this video, which was also deleted in short order, that I reposted above, from someone who claimed to have worked for Transglobe. Just food for thought.

  • I live in ottawa and its the same story. Minto owned this building I will in and it was GREAT till transglobe took over and now its a piece of crap. Elevator dont work , Garbage shoot is full at the time . JUST SICK AND TIRED OF THIS BUILDING 2850 cedarwood Dr ottawa

  • I lived at 360 Dundas across from this building. It was also owned by TransGlobe. They pretty much are slumlords. They constantly sent eviction notices to us even though it was a mistake on their part and they had sent them to everyone in the whole building. The garbage chutes were also boarded up in this building. The rent started out at $620 when we moved in and it was $700 by the end for a tiny 1 bedroom apartment.

  • i stand to be corrected, my apologies.. it is the general outlook transglobe seems to own...

  • np....

  • darealwiggin,, you might steal and cheat for the company, but I highly doubt you get money for it, that is reserved for the owner.. ahaha. you are simply a little staff member working for a rich guy that uses you.. no worries about an uneducated staff member.

  • Reread my post, I was quoting freeagents90. I'm the original poster of the video, so I could see what he deleted.

  • I get money ya diggggggggggg?

  • I wonder if these buildings that are in areas that are expected to be gentrified? Landlords who believe an area is to be gentrified tend to underinvest in their buildings that eventually pushes out residents so they can sell the land to developers for a huge profit. Reference Mike Davis and the revanchist city.

  • You might be right, and I don't know a lot about real estate, but if what you're saying is right I'm wondering why they would spend so much on establishing a brand, and marketing their properties. Some of the properties they own in large urban centres may have the expectation of gentrification, but so many of their properties aren't in areas like these. In any case, I think it goes without saying that their long term intentions doesn't override their short term responsibilities as landlords.

  • We have been dealing with TransGlobe since february with Bug infestation, electrical hazards, managers entering with no notice ,so we had to take them to court. We filled our Affidavit, won the case, did the final, walk through as per the judge, and guess what....Transglobe is going against the court oder. They care so much about their tenants, and the law, that they are going against a judge appointed court order. 4 year old kids know right from wrong... and transglobe?

  • I'm not a lawyer, but if there are still outstanding issues that TG is not taking care of, you can take them back to the LTB for non-compliance. Moreover, if the remaining issues are related to property standards (e.g. electrical hazards, water damage, etc), you can contact your municipality's property standards office. They can often get problems fixed quick by threatening TG with fines. If all else failes, contact legal aid, or a lawyer.

  • This Feb 1st I moved into 350 Mayfield beside 50 Selkirk. From the fist moment I have had nothing but problems. The TransGlobe staff are rude and lazy! Its been 4 months of weekly placing the same work order to fix plumbing and a window (They have yet to respond!) The building is filthy past the public eye and the laundry room dank and constantly filled with backwash from the floor drain! Don't trust what they tell you better yet don't get into this situation in the first place.

  • lol @ freeagents90 removing his/her post.

His post was: "LOL!!!!!!! i work for transglobe as customer service! bahahahah we lie, we cheat and we steal! and we will be here to stay! o man, we be makin that money off of u ye digg"

  • my story #8. a promotional t-bucks coupon for signing with transglobe or transferring from one building to another, as i did from toronto to new westminster and then to north vancouver, resulted in no redemption or collection. carmen called once to rectify complaint, but never did resolve or call back thereafter. i never received t-buck rewards at all for timely rents, or transfers. bogus offer it appears! good PR advertising/marketing without honouring, at least in my case. the end!!

  • my story # 7. all in all, you decide on everyones feedback! i will be posting how the elevator at 315 agnes street, new westminster,b.c. was out of service several times, no elevator regulation inspection poster and some of the immaculately cleaned apartment pictures that i took. a gleaming bathroom, stove, fridge etc.. oh, and my request to pro-rate my rent for no cable and cut a cheque for the months already paid, were never answered to date. i have no positive experiences from the company!!

  • my story #6. so glad they just sold the new building i moved in to! they asked to see my bank account to get a unit! they forced me to get apartment insurance before moving in, a good idea but not mandatory! the B.R. entered my rent late and I was charged a late fee, which they revoked because I always paid rent on the first for 3 years! they also gave me an eviction notice in toronto because the B.R. they eventually fired, handed in everyones rent late! Lots of unhappy people here I see!

  • my story #5. i gave 45 days notice to vacate even though only 30 days is required. they were supposed to set up inspection with me but brenda brookes said it was my responsibility to set up move out. B.C. residential tenacy office said this is untrue, and because they did not sign me off, they now owe me 2 damage deposits, so if your situation of damage deposit is similiar, file with the tenancy branch. the regular cleaning charges exceed other companies also! i am filing for no cable also!

  • my story #4. Gordana the B.R. did not even show up for the legal sign off inspection with me. the regional manager said she would be there, but it did not happen. brenda brookes falsely said that I was supposed to set it up with head office. i sent her the emails the regional sent me about it being set up, brenda still will not respond, she found them at fault so she ignores the issue. the do not have my signature on an inspection report yet they steal my damage deposit! ugly people and company!

  • my story #3. transglobe rarely responded to any work order submitted. the staff is rude and impossible to reason with, it seems as though they are given incentive or bonus to reject or refuse tenants proper communication, in my opinion. Customer service is actually a negative experience. They assume that failure to respond to you will ensure you stop calling them for repairs, issues or reasonable requests. the staff is terrible across the board. i would never rent from them again, ever.

  • my story #2. Trangslobe took my entire damage deposit and part interest for cleaning charges. i sent brenda brookes a letter and photos to challenge the cleaners fabrication, she has not responded to date! I got back $32.00. she won't respond at all. A building rep from toronto at transglobe told me they get paid to clean a unit, i informed brenda that this may be the case for their false cleaning charge. no response from her. 50 photos prove their cleaning bill is not founded in fact!!

  • my story.

my lease states cable was included, the website offered it, i never received satellite cable at 315 agnes street, new westminster. all follow up calls/faxes to head office were ignored by the rude staff.

the elevator was constantly out of service and repaired by their own staff, general maintenance men! they never had the elevators inspected,or posted the regulated inspection sign that is required. we walked up the stairs more than using the elevators.

  • Ilive in a TransGlobe property in Toronto.

My name is not spelled correctly on the lease, I can't control my heat, my windows do not close...its winter and I get snow INSIDE my apartment and thick ice [I was told the windows would be fixed6 months ago]

I am charged $60.00 a month for parking that is 4 blocks away up a steep hill where our car gets drips of rust all over. Sometimes we can't even get IN to the garage, locks break.

    Plus 900 other problems

I call everyday, emailno response. EVER.

  • That's disgusting! My sister lived in a nice apartment, until Transglobe took over. We all were under the impression they'd improve it, but their management sucks, and trying to get a hold of any of the upper management is a waste of time because they keep saying oh talk to this person, or talk to that person. Never ever stay in a Transglobe building. Nothing will ever get done for you! They're just a lot of talk, and no action!

  • Transglobe also has slum apartments in Listowel. The cops are there every night.... The place was cleaned when I moved in but the locks on my doors never worked, a year went by and they did not fix them. They have an elaborate system for requesting repairs.. but nothing ever actually gets done. If it does, its the paint/plaster over approach mentioned in the video.....

  • ...(cont'd)

anddd that is not including the utilities...and not to mention it was disgusting. I live in a building the same approximate distance...a 2 bedroom...I pay 875$ INCLUDING all utilities (yes, HYRDO too) and it is NOT disgusting. I just think it's really funny that it is such a well known fact...never ever rent with them.

  • wow...it's true...every transglobe property I have seen has been has been disgusting and slummy...but they insist on plastering their advertisments all over town and on the lawns of the buildings they own to make you think that they are upholding some sort of standard. I live in a university area in Kitchener and the transglobe properties around here have the most expensive monthly rent for NO quality of accomodation. For a two bedroom apartment 20 mins away from the uni they are charging 1000/m

  • No. Never ever rent from TransGlobe.

I'm about to make my own video on my own situation soon.

When we moved in, it wasn't clean at all. Not even close to ready. Holes in the walls/door. Carpet not shampooed or even vaccuumed. Canola oil on the kitchen floors and counters (I thought it was urine), bathroom dirty as all sin. Whats worse? We had to clean it ourselves.

And now I get notice yesterday that we owe money, and they lost the money they owe US.

  • Never rent from TransGlobe unless you enjoy dealing with the kind of slum conditions that the man describes in this video (not to mention paying some of the highest rental costs in the area, comparatively). I rent from TransGlobe in Ontario and I'm pretty sure my partner and I are suffering the effects of living with toxic mold in our bathroom ceiling, which has been there since before we moved in and was never properly repaired, although we were promised it would be dealt with.

  • living in a transglobe building is terrible, it was december and our fuse box in our unit was heating up so much that you felt it radiating as you walked by, when the breakers blew, we went for a little under a month without electricity in half of our apartment, and also had to phone property standards before anything was taken care of, not to mention that what caused the short in the first place was an electric job done using good old fashioned grey duct tape, Merry F*cking Xmas from Transglobe
