You can whack the whacka 8 times before he's gone forever and I suggest keeping all 8 of those bumps for later. If you've done the pit of 100 trials down to level 50, you'll have the strange sack, a key item that doubles the amount of items you can hold, making it easier to keep the bumps. Also, if you did Zess T.'s side mission and know about the gold tree, take some its leaves to Zess T. and combine them with the bumps to make Zess T. deluxes, items that restore 40 hp & fp.
