  • dont forget hes jamaican all u haters jamaica should not be denied of its sprinting glory so too was linford christie, sanya richards, debbie dunn and many more big ups to the caribbean countries bahamas trini grenada st kitts all the rest

  • bailey was a gd one to watch, always made for exciting race with his crap starts and amazing top end speed

  • Nice Video!!!

  • NIce Video!!!

  • Bailey's strategy was genius. He knew it was all about getting into a position then spending his energy where any sprinter can turn on the speed 20m to 85m which is not like a lucky start or a maybe on the finish but brut force mid race...

  • Well done Bailey but this camera missed a touching moment. Linford Christie collapsed at the finish line and Frankie Fredericks went back to him and signalled to help for his friend on the floor.

  • they should show all the races with this angle. it really captures the speed

  • @afamobi93 yeh i agree and always thought this also, really displays the imhumane turnover these guys have.

  • Most sprinters were cheats from 80's on... This is not a revelation. Bailey was still legit and arguably one the faster sprinter at top speed.

  • your just saying that because he runs like a man more then you do.

  • @ROMPERSTOMPER21 you're not too bright. they have drug tests 5 minutes after the race is completed. good one though!!!

  • 50m World Record=Donovan Bailey,legend.

  • whats dystance

  • He sure puts a spirt on in the last 40 metres.

  • this video reminds me of my videos!!1

you will c me soon! rw

  • wow, baileys start left him trailing but for top speed, he was hella fast.

  • @speedyslime93 if bailey had the best start, he would still have the world record for fastest man. I think with a better start, he can do 9.30

  • No way 9.3 is at least two meters ahead of bolts 9.58. Not possible

  • @Faatbass no he wouldnt because then he woldnt have enogh energy in the end and would run like 10.2! he was a good starter he just always delayed to come up in the end

  • @fightjunge24 He wasn't saving for anything, he was just simply a bad starter. I think with a good start Bailey could have gone low to mid 9.7s.

  • @phastman1994 yes he was saving. he often said that he was relaxing pretty much at the start. and if he had improve at the start he wouldnt have the same topspeed any more so its not sure that he even had been faster

  • @fightjunge24 Yeah but that has nothing to do with his overall reaction time and explosion out of the blocks, Bailey was clearly a bad starter. Maurice Greene used the exact same strategy as Bailey by delaying his acceleration so he can maintain his top-end speed better and have less deceleration, but Greene was also a great starter. Bailey definitely could've gone sub 9.8 with a good start.

  • @phastman1994 yea but he could have trained another 10 years his start had never been a good one. because he used another stratagy than greene. baileys top speed was well higher

  • @fightjunge24 He wouldn't necessarily be a great starter but he could have been a better starter and still have the same top-end speed.

  • @phastman1994 yea thats right there is no really drive phase and i u look closely his right foot is a little bit turned to the outsid and the left isnt. but then imagine how fast carl lewis had been with a good start. so u know i just dont like this if he had and so on. he just didnt have a good start and thats it

  • @fightjunge24 True. I'm not trying to make up any "what if" excuses or anything, no one can ever run the perfect race and nothing will change the fact that Bailey was a 9.8s sprinter and not a 9.7s sprinter but we can still make estimations on what we think could have been possible if we were to better there biggest flaws.

  • @Faatbass 9.3? What? If Bailey was a good starter I doubt he'd even go sub 9.7.

  • If he had a good start, even usain bolt would have a tough time breaking his records

  • he was always last at the beginning, lol. kinda strange to think that 19year olds like yohan blake are faster than these guys. track has improved so much since then.

  • @gsingh5 I totally agree.

  • dang ..his start is horrible.. but hes a beast

  • Bailey he never was a good starter. In fact in the 1996 Olympics 100 m final, he had the worst start of all of them.

  • Ironically, he's the co WR holder in the 50m dash with Mo Greene (5.56)

  • Thanks for pointing that out,my jaw dropped. He still has the 50m world record.Awesome.

  • Too bad Bailey was in that car accident. He was never the same after that. He still has the olympic record.

  • Bailey was a good starter. His start and drive allowed him to distribute his energies efficiently throughout the entire race enabling him to finish like he did. Carl Lewis' start was also good as he did the same thing. Its no good having a perfect 0.100 reaction and a blazing first 30m if you burn out now is it ?

  • LOL people really don't understand the concept of starting, conserving energy, drive, etc . Spose you just hear the gun and take-off running as fast as ya can ?

  • That is the actual speed those guys are running at man. If you ever go to an International T&F meet and get a good view of the sprints, the top guys' limbs are moving so quick its surreal.

  • true.. The speed of this guys are almost extraterrestial. I ran 100 meters at high school. I ran 10.92 at my top speed, and i was the fastest in the school for 5 years... 9.97 or under 10 secs is almost crazy.

  • its doesnt matter really, because he didnt have that start. its all about an overall thing.

  • he could have ran even faster than 9.8 if he had a better start... he would have killed (dont get me wrong he DID kick ass but yea lol)

  • boldon had one of the best starts in track in field.

  • donovan could of ran like a whole bunch of 9.8`s if he had a good start

  • VERY true... horrible start... very good middle and end...

  • Yeah, like Carl Lewis and Francis Obikwelu! But only Ben Johnson and Asafa Powell join a terrific start with a tremendous finish! For that, they are the best sprinters of all times!
