nice, i have a work in progress. almost finished, just need to put new five way switch and some other fun goodies for inside. but the outside is done. check it out in a few of my videos if you want.
put a custom warmoth neck on it with a 24 overhang then you got yourself a badass-er guitar. I modded my mexi strat also. supervee trem, HSH routing, schaller tuners, evolution pickups, abalone 3 ply pickguard with push pull pots. its nice, but it needs a new neck. how much did you spend on this one?
the mex strat is the best deal in the entire fender line (for the money). Why buy an American one when you can find a good used Mex Strat and hot rod it. Thats what I did. I bought a Mex sunburst, put on a tortoise shell pick-guard, lace sensor pick-ups and an out of phase switch.....came out just great
Nice set up! I've gotten to the point that I actually order custom necks and bodies and then build my own Guitars. I am very particular about neck shape and wood type( neck & body tone wood).
No offence, but I think that's just a waste of money. I just got some pieces of tape and made some cross customizations along with my signature solo. If I'm lucky enough I'll get a pair of EMG humbuckers and get the pros for the pickup replacements. MY beliefs are that what matters more is the sound, NOT "sickness", although I DO think that the headstock needs redesigning.
@qwecars EMG humbuckers give off all that Torque you need. If you get a Zakk Wylde 81/85 set and a 3-way pickup selector for Les Paul-style guitars, it will sound like a Schecter. All you need is a pickguard that holds humbuckers, Floyd Rose locking nut and tremolo, Schaller locking machine heads, and a new Strat neck with 24 frets to have all the features.
@race1717 I just think EMG's tend to sound too electronic which is the opposite of what I like. Seymour Duncans and Dimarzios sound much more natural & are much better pickups for the price in my opinion.
@jordanm57, Hey man great, great job! i just bought a mexican strat and planned to do the same, i just had a couple of questions but ur video answered it! how much were the tuners?
Nice! I have a Classic Player '60's Strat w/ "69 custom p/u's. I modified it with a Graphtech Bridge saddles & a Graptechtech Trem nut. also I wired it so that the tone is for the Bridge & middle p/u's. Also, I put in a pop up knob in he second tone knob so I can engage the bridge & Neck p/u's when the Pickup selector is in position 1, also, when the pickup selector is in position 2 all 3 p/u's are engaged. I have it in Sonic Blue, I wish they had it in Daphne Blue.
Yeah my classic player is stock except for the way I set up the electronics and the bridge saddles and nut. I love this Strat! I was gonna buy an American Deluxe, but I played this one and loved it!
awesome dude we gotta chat , i have a few guitars , but the 1 i wanna mod a little is presently my hss mim strat i got some ideas i would love to chat with you about and would appreciate any advice you could give , thing is its so expensive here in Ireland ...but thank the stars for e bay also ha,ha
Thanks man! My MIM turned out way better than I expected it to, and its kinda cool to watch people drool over it wherever I go. Good luck with your mods, I was very close to putting a hot rails in mine haha.
Man that Strat is Insane. Black and gold look good together. I got a chrome red Strat with a Rosewood fretboard. Got any suggestions?? I was thinking chrome pick ups and pickguard and knobs. Don't know though. Any more ideas??
hey i have a question. im gonna be upgrading my strat too. its a mexi. and i was wondering how the lace sensor pickups sound? i play rock jazz blues and some metal stuff too.... i was thinking lace sensors, seymour duncans, or emg's. but i cant decide...... oh and what ne tuners did you get? thanks, sweet axe by the way, i love fender
wtf, i want have exactly the same guitar...listen, i alredy have a fender squier, its exactly like yours used to be...how much would it cost if i have already the guitar???, and where did you buy all you needed???...is there any risk changing the tuners??
I had to stick it out through that long ass endless floyd song and we never got to hear the damn guitar play? Fucking tease. Nice looking ax though. I kind of like the Mex's.
i am doing the same thing my self but from scratch i got all fender parts and it is half assembled but i am just waiting on the neck to arrive from usa
The bridge pickup (red) is amazing for rock, punk, and even metal. The Middle (silver) is more for grunge and funk. The neck (blue) is good for clean tones, and blues. With this pickup combo, you can play almost anything.
I own a fender strat and I'm always struggling with tuning because of the tremoloarm, does it go well with the sperzels? and if you say in tune forever, do you mean FOREVER? without exaggerating? :p just asking because i want to spend my €70 well :p
Well obviously they dont stay in tune forever, but mine will stay in tune for at least a week or 2. They will make it so that you can use the tremolo without it going out of tune, but you still cant go crazy with it.
The body is amazing, but I wish you used a darker fretboard with some cool design rather than the dots. I also wish the headstock was a darker color. Still a beautiful guitar, though
That is one of the most beautiful strats I've ever seen. I thought the Paul Gilbert strat looked good (black finish & pickguard, maple neck and white knobs, pickups) but damn, that strat looks like a "black beauty" Les Paul. Fender seriously should offer this one as a Mexican Custom Shop model or something, because I'd buy it. Great work! How do the pickups sound? Keep on rocking and greetings from Germany!
how come the parts of the head stock are missing and great song and guitars, your strat is pretty close to a guitar i dream of customizing when im older the only difference is the pickups and thats pretty much it
The new tuners are staggered, so it pulls the string down by itself without help from the string tree. Look it up on the sperzel website, they can explain it much better than i can

Your guitar is the "dogs bollocks."
Reminds me of JPS Lotus Formula 1 Car
Black and Gold looks really expensive.
Well it actually was $700 in your case!
But it looks worth it for the impact it has on the eye as a piece of art.
Hopefully it sounds as good as it looks!
I've just started modifying my MIM strat.
Locking tuners, LSR Roller nut, Seymour Duncan mini blade humbuckers . Cool Rails (neck), Vintage Rails (middle) & Hot Rails (bridge). It sounds the Dogs!
Let's see some more!
