I LOVE that shot @ 1:22 where he just suddenly closes his hand over the ring. Such determination and yet he's so woeful. He doesn't want to do it alone but he HAS to. And of course the music is so moving. And when Sam approaches and he says loud enough for only him to hear "No Sam."

It was, but in the movie, the camera stays on Frodo until he puts the ring in his pocket and I am not sure if the Gandalf part is in there where Gandalf comes into the light. Then, as Frodo gets into the boat, it shows Sam running through the forest and almost drowns when trying to get to Frodo. So, it's extended in the sense that Sam's running is put to the middle instead of end.
