  • Begin by boiling the artichokes for about 45 minutes. Test their doneness by pulling a leaf, which should pull off easily, and eating the fleshy part at the bottom of the leaf. They should be tender but not mushy.

Once boiled, allow to cool. Once cool, you can halve them like you see in the video. Then grill them like in the video.

Eating - pull the leaves, dip in mayo. When you get close to the heart, pull the remaining soft leaves and cut the heart, dip in the mayo and eat.

    Enjoy

  • Hey there killer griller, I am in melb Australia, this looks really yummy, but just a few questions, (I have never cooked/used artichokes before except deli prepared hearts!) what do you do with the left over hearts? After you have grilled and served them, how are you supposed to eat them? Do you just peel the leaves off individually & dip in mayo? That grill of yours, is awesome, did you make it or buy it??

    Thanks very much!!

  • Thank you! I am making these for Christmas!

  • im deaf, so how do you make this sauce? please let know. thank you

  • @missjangster Trim and boil/steam artichoke till completely cooked –lrg can take 45 min Core and clean out choke Marinade/Basting: Olive oil – seasoned finely chopped or pressed garlic lemon juice soy sauce salt and pepper (from left-over basting plate use on grilled side and salt and pepper) Dipping Sauce: left over marinade Mayonnaise salt and pepper (any darker, you may have used too much soy sauce) 4 Artichoke halves, one w/ the open part up can hold the dipping sauce
  • awesome vid. i cant wait to try this. next time u should totally take a bite out of what you made. it looked so good :)

  • I just made this the other night and the marinade was OMG delicious!! I'm going to make this all the time now. Thanks for posting your genius!!

  • This is a great video! Thank you! I am a professional baker, a great home cook, and a CRAP griller! But this was easy even for me!

  • ive eaten these tons of times over the last year after being inspired by this video!

  • LOVE THE GRILL!!!!!!

  • It's a shame you have such a nice set up and neither you, nor your friends apparently know what the hell good food tastes like.

Pull the artichokes a little back off that fire and they'll be totally done in about 8 minutes. You boiled all the flavors away and poured on soy sauce.

I bet you couldnt tell the difference in artichokes and asparagus with the dead flavors. Except for the fact that the artichoke is a huge pain to eat the way you're serving, at least peel the stem and stop boiling.

  • @roaming85

Although I dont agree with the manner in which you have made you piont (you really didn't have to be so rude). I do have to agree very much with what you are saying.

  • THAT IS ONE SICK GRILL!!!!!

  • invite me over....u know your stuff...looks sooo goood

  • Great marinade recipe! I grilled mine with this and then made some bruchetta that I scooped into the center. Beautiful presentation with this and sooo delicious!! No need for dipping sauce. :)

  • Thank you so much for this great recipe. It is excellent!

  • Kudos for telling people that they can be made ahead of time! Most people don't know that! Great video!

  • This looks really good! I mix mayo with a squeeze of fresh lemon juice and add just a touch of garlic salt w/green seasonings.
