My engine seized after three gallons of gas worth of tilling. The tiller is four years old and we were given a 5 year warranty. The company will not honor the warranty.
This company and product are scum and junk. file a complaint with the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General - Tom Corbett if you have also had this experience.
If you don't own one, don't buy one. The new crankshaft is over $160.00. That is $600.00 to use a toy tiller for a total of 8 hours.
What were you trying to till? Cement? Clay hardpan? You should never use a Mantis to till anything that tough. Common sense dictates that. You need a heavier tiller -- which costs thousands more.
Sounds like you tried to get away with something on the cheap and got burned. Sorry dude.
I love my Mantis. I use it in my raised beds, and also used it to chop up some tough clay hardpan -- plus add compost and fertilizer. My garden is churning out record amounts thanks to the Mantis.
I have just brought one although I still have to have the 'big boy' out for the big dig but the Mantis is very girly friendly and it's going to save me so much weeding.
The ground was already tilled.
