  • nice but sounds like "THE LOGICAL SONG" from SUPERTRAMP

  • @AgentChristian It does? I can't see many similarities

  • This was on a show?

  • I saw these guys live not too long ago, and they played this song. Holy shit. They sounded absolutely amazing. Everyone was swaying. Their recorded stuff does not do them justice. Everyone should see them live at least once. It was the greatest concert I've ever been to.

  • YOGUSLAVIA WE LOVE YOU! AND BEIRUT IS FUCKING AWESOME !

  • lol the license plate's from chuvashia, russia...

  • does anyone know of any other band that plays song specifically like this one? or bratislava

  • Amazing. So East and South European. So Slavonic.

My grandfather was in gulag. He always says that was a 2 years of endless night and sorrow. It's sad that he's cant hear this, maybe it will be for him somekine of khatarsis.

  • Great song, the girl in the album art has very nice legs.

  • Im from Serbia and sometimes when i hear this song i think my sister turned on some local radio station :D

  • Epic song, epic Band... no need to say more!

  • This is my favorite Beirut album and I think my favorite song on the album.

I think Guyamas Sonora is my favorite song though.

  • What is "So You Think You Can Dance"?, don't worry you aren't missing anything, except some exceptionally great looking female dancers.

  • Fuck so you think you can dance, this is music, not reality TV.

  • What the fuck is "So you think you can dance?"

  • Beirut. That's what the cool kids listen to.

  • dude, what sort of a person dislikes this song ??? I seriously can not imagine....

  • 17 dislikes!! are u stupid?

  • THAT'S MUSIC, THAT'S SOUL!!!!!!!

  • it's a Lada 6! Russian car =))

  • pozdrav iz louisvilla hercegovac

  • podoba mi sie to zawodzenie ;)

  • thanks to my good friend that I know this band. so near to my soul, think evry song was written just for me ... to discover just this song its enough to live in this shitty world

  • This is the song for when you are sitting along the Volga, smoking a pipe and furrowing your mustache.

  • Being Bosnian and Listening to this is Awesome. Like these guys are from Santa Fe, New Mexico and to play Balkan Music is soo cool. Much Love. Zivije li

  • I was listening to the middle east- blood, and had a sudden urge to click on a link for Beirut... and here we are 7 songs later... with not one I disliked... Beirut is fast becoming my new all time favourite band :)

  • Offff be...dunya varmis diyecusinde ufff...ulan diyecesuinde....How I miss my country - Turkey - our heritage everywhere in the Balkans and Middle East.......Just come and visit us to understand rather than believe these words here.......

  • This song gives me chills on every inch of my body. These vocals are incredible!

  • more than awesome and instant replay!! thanks for the plug on this peaceful track Doe. Peace~ Jade

  • Amazing sound! I love Beirut and this song so much.....

  • My wife lost in the wild

  • std's brought me here.

  • Love.

  • Wow such stirring music can imagine all kinds of dances to it. Loved it!

  • amazing, this is nothing more than amazing. These guys remind me I still have a soul within.

  • Discovered Beirut and this song tonite as it was played and danced/choreographed

on So You Think You Can Dance. I'm totally sold. Don't even remember the dancers.

  • @45TKH That is the way it should be - dancing in the shadow of the music

  • @45TKH why would you even watch that shit

  • @MrSkate4weed As I said earlier it has good music and great looking female dancers. In this case the music of Beirut pulled me away from the dancing.

  • @45TKH well...that's good, please go research what's happening in the world instead of watching television though, when the revolution comes it's going to be important everyone knows exactly why it's happening. random i know

  • @MrSkate4weed You make a large assumption about me and my awareness of world events. I don't have any idea where you are from, but your talk of revolution is interesting. Perhaps you would like to expound on it at my regular email address: tkjp80@yahoo.com

I'm aware that i may be opening this up to those who would scatter junk, but then that is taken into consideration.

  • i dont care what nigel says, tadd rocked this piece of sytycd. i love beirut!

  • @laceloo444 Ohh that was awesome!! :)

  • @laceloo444 damn straight!

  • amazing

  • wonderful music

  • This song is great to play along to on trumpet. My neighbours hate me now.

  • Every time I listen to this song, I am on the verge of releasing tears of life.

  • Why does this remind me of a Tarantino film?

  • perfect

  • Truly Great,

  • They call in night! They call in night......

  • this song makes me feel like i'm in russia, clinking massive pitchers of beer with my mates, swaying back and forth and slopping beer all over the place in our drunken state... if that makes any sense.

  • @rareflorence that makes SO much sense

  • @Rolinde94JB sarcasm?

  • @rareflorence nop

  • @Rolinde94JB right on

  • @rareflorence jajajaj funny little exchange here

  • @rareflorence it makes perfect sense

  • What does "muy wapa" mean?

  • @ChristInLimbo It literally means "very pretty" in bad Spanish. It stands for "a great song".

  • @ChristInLimbo it means "very pretty or really pretty"

  • @ChristInLimbo

Its not "very pretty", its "very hot"

  • @CashlessNick THANK YOU. Even though I have no idea why the guy would have put this as the description. :/

  • @ChristInLimbo In Spain saying "muy wapa" means "very cool", contrary to the normal meaning "very pretty".

and not, guapa doesn't mean "hot" that would be "cachonda, caliente, buena" etc

    Cheers

  • If anyone wants to listen to something old-school by Goran Bregovic refer to Bijelo Dugme from the 70's when Zeljko Bebek was with them. That's the best of Bijelo Dugme...and don't forget to listen to Bregovic's "Ederlezi" from the movie 'Dom za Vjesanje'.

  • @ekserchina actually Bijelo Dugme - Lipe cvatu & Bijelo dugme - Đurđevdan are the best balkan-folkish pieces

  • @Adriat1c Everyone has their opinions. I think Bijelo Dugme was in their prime with Bebek judging the band as a whole and not just a few songs here and there.

  • @ekserchina yes they were better with bebek but they were more rock, less folk then. the two songs i mentioned are their best folkish songs

  • I love it!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Who's da fuck that dude ? I mean russian car on the cover and it's known that's balkan folk. SO, what's the connection ? he's from some balkan country or what ?

  • @georgykicksass does it really matter?he can be from any country and sing any king of music he wants, just enjoy the song man...

  • @georgykicksass The cover suits the music, and that' all thats important.

  • @georgykicksass he's a man of the world. :)

  • @georgykicksass, I hope you can sleep your nights thinking of that...

  • the cover is wonderful. im in love with it, i want to be there, talk to those women and experience some adventures with them

  • ricorda un pò Bregovic... molto bella!

  • @TheWasp2392 millie grazie .. per il suggerimento!!! Thanks for introducing Bregovic!

  • @R4dm4llld4y lots of people dont find the word rape funny, because lots of people have been raped. you wouldnt find the word rape to be funny if youve actually experienced the pain and fright of it. i hope you just learned something.

  • We can all Being our Healing now.

  • i just discovered this band.... it's kind of a circus ambience with the trumpets and piano and drum sets... love it :)

  • NEED TRUMPET SHEETS

  • @Halileet I know. I thought it was genius.

  • what is the meter of this song?

  • Zach Condon ! Have a Gipsy Soul :-)

  • Beirut plays the most melancholic music I ever heard. Its not sad its heart breaking.

  • sounds like russian music.

  • What the fuck? Are they really only stating 3 lines??

    "They call it night,

    they call it night

and I know it well" :0

  • @ChristInLimbo That's one of the best things about the song! The instrumentals are so beautiful, you hardly

need lyrics >< And those three lines are so simplistic open-ended that it really makes me think.

Which is what's so great about Beirut lyrics. They make you think.

  • wciąż od nowa się w niej zakochuje!

  • at 1:22, my "eargasm" just started... so F%ckin awesome!!

  • i dunno what should i write but its the 'perfect' song by one word.

  • When Balkans cry.... you can here that song...

    Albania

    Bosnia and Herzegovina

    Bulgaria

    F.Y.R.O.M.

    Greece

    Kosovo

    Montenegro

  • @fantizis Don't forget Serbia ;D

  • @wushuwil My fault !!!!

    Sorry! :D

  • F%!!%@ AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 6 people didn't have a eargasm like i just did from listening to this:D

  • 讚!

  • Somewhere, past the home of a aging widow who's husband dared to give voice to his doubts about the wisdom of a distant Kremlin, far beyond the decaying fields of a man stooped with the burdens of a crushing winter, nearby a frozen creek where fifty-seven people were executed for 'political misdeeds', there is a young boy, legs missing from a ancient landmine, grinning toothlessly as he catches the briefest snatch of this song's melody on the bitter air.

  • @BlahBlahYouWho dude you need to visit Eastern Europe, it's not like North Korea anymore...

  • @Eldedudu Indeed my friend. I'm traveling to my dear Balkans end of July and it's definitely a beautiful place from Croatia to Bosnia and Herzegovina to Macedonia...the Balkans are devils playground but they're filled with beauty.

  • @BlahBlahYouWho please write a book. you have the sensitivity of an author.

  • @BlahBlahYouWho that's pretty much the most beautiful youtube comment i've ever read.

  • @BlahBlahYouWho I love your words...

  • @BlahBlahYouWho ....poetic but deadly

  • Boss.

  • mmmmmm....... Flugelhorn

  • Hooray for the Balkans!

  • @kratiras

    love the Balkans :)

  • I can't think of one single word to describe how amazing this song is to me.

  • Comment removed

  • I love this song so so so much!

  • damnit

i hate it that probably most people think i'm weird for thinking this is awesome

  • that girl has some nice legs.

  • this raped my ears and made them cum like 4 times

  • @R4dm4lld4y Some of you americans have, in the last few years, begun to use the word 'rape' in a flippant way, mainly in a doomed attempt at humour - just like your stupid fucking comment.

    Rape isn't funny.

Nor is using the word in a 'funny' context.

  • @SNOWBALL1690 by the way this is youtube

  • @R4dm4lld4y By the way, what does that have to do with anything.

  • @Stormwind187 who really cares what i put on a youtube comment its not impacting the world so why complain about it

  • @R4dm4lld4y I wasn't complaining, you seem to imply that I cared. I was simply stating that had absolutely nothing to do with what he said at all, it doesn't matter if it changes anything and it doesn't matter if this is YouTube, nothing ever really changes the entire world. But it impacts something. Either way this has nothing to do with Beirut or their beautiful music.

  • @Stormwind187 you all care. every one of you cares. and i care. otherwise we wouldnt be wasting the microcalories it takes to type comments. but WHY do we care?

  • @bebrasha we care for we are human..not even the most independent or loner of people can live without caring..so stop lying to yourself that you don't care..give people a shot or just fuck them away..either way you care

  • wow!!! where has this been all my life?

  • niesamowite !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I am not as keen On This as Postcard to Italy or Elephant Gum but I am trying really hard to like It because I am Sure They will Hopefully Soon get a Record deal.

I would Personally Find this hard to Dance too.

I think More than anything It shows the Eccentricity that Is within all English People.

I mean Look at that Famous painter Jan Gough he woke up One Morning and decided to Cut his Ear off!!

How was that going to help him Paint better?

I feel a Lot of Zachs Pain in this Song.

    I am Sad

  • muito boua essa banda cara!!!!!!!

  • Primera vez que lo escucho, es difícil de describir en palabras lo que genera la música de esta banda....

  • ...Quintin Tarentino could have used this in Kill Bill O.O

  • @xerius555 i just watched that last night. haha it would be perfect.

  • @xerius555 Oooh Yes, he could! ;)

  • this should have been John Marston's funeral song

  • @edn172 dude... O.O I was thinking the EXACT same thing... I scroll down, and BAM! Instant agreement from someone I've never met. =] This would have made the game SO Much better!

  • @xerius555 ha, great minds think alike.

  • When I die, I want to this song in my funeral.

  • I have this on vinyl and it just bangs on my record player........LOVE this tune...

  • It would of been so much better if the lyrics said "they called her mine, they called her mine and I called her mine."

  • @tomthecat2009 yeah i'vr noticed that he uses him to describe like lovers and such (in cliquot he says "what melody will lead my lover from his bed") but he isn't gay. he has a steady girlfriend last time i checked. they live together and everything. i don't get it

  • This is one of those songs that you have played at a funeral... or at the end of a mexican shoot 'em movie....i personally like both options!

  • @pctlalliance I think there are some mexican shoot'em movies in which a funeral ends up the movie.

but I'd love to know that my funeral ends with a mexican shoot'em movie :D

  • @JuiCeBoX19 Haha I wouldnt doubt it. I have only seen it once, but I think Once Upon A Time In Mexico was one of them.... Well, there was a pretty sweet shoot out scene at least. That still counts! Haha!

  • today was my farewell from my hometown very few people came to my party i'm really drunk right now, but thank god for music, if i hadn't had music i would been really sad right now but instead i'm enjoying this

  • come the 50th BRASS FESTIVAL! no sleep ........... Gucha- Serbia

  • if i ever get a funeral, play it there.

  • Einmalig, schön, sehr sehr leidenschaftlich.

  • i love song

  • this band reminds me of Os Mutantes from Brasil!

  • their best album, great song!

  • When I die, this will be played at my funeral. :)

  • @johnseal6

    great !

  • It's odd. A boy from New Mexico singing like a Transylvanian farmer. But I like it.

  • @shalommashal

It's odd in a good and very fresh way ; ) ; I'm from Transilvania and I really wish our farmers could sing like Beirut! : ))

  • @shalommashal hey, I'm romanian, and we don't sing like that ;)

this song is still bomb though
