  • Samuel Barber's Adagio for Strings is the saddest piece of music I have ever heard written and composed in my life. I find it impossible to to think of any sadness that has happened in my life and with this music playing and not be brought to tears. That is the power of music to bring out emotion

  • When I watch Larse's films I can't keep my eyes off the screen even for a moment. What's inside his brain that works so perfectly ? Melancholia and Batterflies and the Diving Bell and the Butterfly are my recent impressions.

  • @larinaea The diving bell and the butterfly, I read it ! It's an amazing Book !! :)

  • @kief61 Interesting that the book is good as well. Since the topic is difficult to expand, it seems to me. ))

  • Your video gave me a better appreciation for the film. You made connections I didn't know about before this. Thank you, What picture is that at 0:13?

  • @questionsleadtotruth "Ophelia" is painting by John Everett Millais in 1852; It is at Tate Gallery, London;

  • a brilliant film, such heavy going, it was beautiful

  • Lies! There is only Wagner's Tristan und Isolde in Melancholia!

  • @ApolyonTheSoulRender

    No problem !! Each his ideas !! It's my personnel tribute to this masterpiece, the best film I have watched since along time !! and I if chose this music, (very sad), it's just personal !!

  • nieve :P

  • bien, la primer pintura, la de los cazadores en la nieva, me fascina.

  • Una de las mejores peliculas que he visto en los ultimos años¡

  • The first picture in your video, the one with the word "Melancholiah" in the back....what can you tell me about it? Date, Artist, title? Thank you.

  • @athenazg In 1514 Albrecht Dürer ( 1471-1528 ) a German artist of the Renaissance. created the copperplate engraving of the name of " Melancholia I ", which contains its magic square - the first magic square published in Europe.

  • @kief61 - Thank you so much! I'm kind of freaking out now, his name keeps coming up for me in the strangest places, and pieces of what seems to be some sort of cosmic puzzle that I can't put together because I don't have all the pieces. And now this. Thank you.

  • This was in Platoon

  • 0:12...what's the name of this painting !?

  • @chalofour "Ophelia" of John Everett Millais, is at Tate Gallery, London, I think ;

  • This piece makes cry but i cant express why

  • I know on youtube 4600 view , it's nothing , but I really happy that this vidéo has been watched with so many people ! Thanks !!§§

  • Lars Von trier is very pessimistic in this film and It's very different of 'breaking the waves, and 'Dancer in the Dark'(2 of his films, I love ) , he was at this time very religious ! But in Mélancholia, the illness is very well showed, and he doesn't let us the choice ! It's his truth !! I watched this film 4 time on the big screen and I wait for the dvd ...!!

  • I agree for one hundred percent!!

  • I watched this on the big cinema screen and I'm still deeply impressed

  • @marcelia3 there was along time that i havn't so touched and so impressed by a film ! a masterpiece for me !!

  • @kief61

    It is really a masterpiece ! One of the best, impressive film i never seen !

  • @marcob4630

    Hey, hai per caso visto il Film al cinema corso? Comunque gran film, di una potenza assurda

  • @marcelia3 - just saw this last night on the big cinema and I'm deeply DEpressed

  • @Syntox I can understand that,many people find Lars von Trier movies depressing. I guess that I'm simply too fascinated by his style of filming that I mainly see the art. Don't let it get you down for too long,it's just his interpretation of what might be possible.

  • @Syntox @Syntox Not sure...but if the school of Hard Knocks was really yours you might just mean "Depressurized" and you wouldn't know how to spell it, lol :-)

  • @suzettegm :-)

  • Nice fit.

  • GOSTEI. Obrigada por COMPARTILHAR.
