I actually woulda liked this scene. It shows Lightning MicQueen's fear and inner thoughts of what outside places would be, but in the end, Radiator Spings was nothing like that at all.

(because of the scrapped cars with tree rooting growing out of them, looking like twsited faces) this would be a REAL nightmare if you were Lightning McQueen... If you hear the introduction, John Lasseter (yeah, that's who) says that Lightning turns down a race for community service. That doesn't sound right, does it? You'd think he'd rather race than do community service. They changed the plot a bit, so this couldn't have made it into the movie.

The reason they probably took it out was because it woukd make Mater a bad guy and give the movie a new angle of being able to switch bodies. It would also turn the entire movie around :/ i dont like this one

In the Art of Cars, it looks like Lightning was one of two vehicles as part of the team he was with.

It's not uncommon with some racers. Some teams like Ferrari or Toyota can have 2-3 racers on the track for some races.

My guess is the character Bessie evolved out of this scene as well.
