I think one of the major problems with the US version was MTV, they weren't able to get away with a lot of the things that the UK version is able to. It was condensed down to being like any other teen show thats on over here.

I think it's cool the way they have changed the characters to accomodate different viewers and still keep most of the storyline the same. I live in the US, so of course I would enjoy the way our characters are because I can relate to them better.. But for the UK version I don't see anybody like their characters anywhere I look. Usually I absolutely hate the US versions like the US "Being Human" (That should have NEVER happened), but this time I favour the US version slightly more. Just saying.

why did they have to remake this in the us? as soon as i heard dev patel was in it i had to watch & its so much better. it would be like some u.s. station trying to remake Primeval to sound more american and less british & i'd hate it. would it have been that big of a deal for them to find a way to show the uk version on mtv instead instead of messing the whole thing up by changing the characters, some of the names and changing the gay guy to a girl, that was really messed up.
