The submarine lagoon was finished in '59, then closed in '98, and re-opened as Finding Nemo submarines in '07. It was not filled in at Disneyland, but at Disneyworld it was replaced with a Winnie the Pooh play area.
Hmm Main Street USA was designed after the nieghborhood he grew up in, somewhere in the east coast I think.... I looked online it says he grew up in Missouri
@TrollSlayer777 no they re made the submarines in 2006 but the original attraction was built in 1959

Uh, the submarine lagoon was filled in several years ago. It was finished back before the park opened.

@clockworkfiction3
Filed in in this case = attraction closed, completely torn down, replaced.
I meant replaced by the Winnie the Pooh play area, I thought they had filled it in and built it ontop.

@Draknfyre
Nah, that was at Walt Disney World only. At Disneyland the lagoon stayed empty for 9 years until it was reopened with a Finding Nemo theme.

This video is great! I love the vintage clip! Disney is a magic place. The construction of such a place is just as magic.

"the houses moved"....you mean "the houses demolished"?
suicidebag666 3 years ago
Actually, they really did move at least of few of them and used them for offices. Much later they were demolished, I believe.
