  • Godfathers of Punk Rock

  • @VoodooUprising Yeah in a way, though it also goes back to The Sonics(Psycho), Syd Barrett... It's also a little bit newer than this, with a different spin: Johnny Thunders, early PIL.

And to think that punk comes in a shiny box with a mohawk, linear taste, and one dressing style, fags. It's in you or not.

  • @polvotone its counter culture musik that goes beyond the box or mainstream commercial musik that steals life to any creativity while induscting you to become a sheep massive. i'm in my 40'snow and learned to appreciate all musik with heart and soul not just for hipsters or poesuers: joy division, jimi hendrix, zeppelin, motorhead, nirvana, bauhaus, krs one, gang starr, bro. ali, sizzla, santana, public enemy, sisters of mercy, dead kennedys, rick james, ravi shankar, etc.

  • @VoodooUprising Yeah, I like lot's of different music. I'm very picky though. I do love Nirvana as well as you. I love their American, In Utero tour bootlegs, singles...

  • @VoodooUprising

Some of those names are alright, but Nirvana were derivative garbage who ripped off Killing Joke, Flipper, and Melvins

  • @arseropes my adolescent son thinks like you and i tell him he is a musik snob and borders a hipster/poseur but he laughs at my antics. nevertheless, been there, done that and same song. looking back at my adolescent phases i would laugh too. no more time to be a snob or hipster just be appreciative of all good, sincere, creative and rebel art and music. never selling out to be too hip!

  • iggy pop. he's twice your age and he could still fuck your girlfried.

  • anyone get this off of normal difficulty live stream???

  • Saw this show live in 71. The stooges came out with a wall of Marshalls, played 3 songs

and walked off the stage. Ron Asheton threw his blue sg down so hard that it bounced back up to his shoulders. 3 songs were a ripoff and people were pissed. Best show I've ever seen!

  • Yet another song by the Stooges that makes me want to take off my pants, set them on fire, and use them as a weapon.

  • @deekante Hahahaha!

  • New york and LA step aside the midwest is where it resides!

  • Multiple buzzsaw guitars power along this memorable Stooges masterpiece. It's a perfect-length pop single-length number that mixes Iggy's laconic vocal style masterfully with the band's blazing, full-power performance.

  • why are people talkin about deep purple and stooges? their both amazing groups!

  • J'ai adoré, j'avais 15 ans... et je l'ai vendu il y a deux ans.

    Quqnd on sait qu'un certain............

  • LOOSE (1970 ) -. SMOKE ON THE WATER (1972)

  • Wtf are u guys on

  • Wtf are guys one

  • "Bow-chow-chow-chow!!!"

  • SOME OF YOU PEOPLE ARE ARSEHOLES,FUCK DEEP PURPLE THIS IS FUCKING GOOD MAYBE YOUR ALL SILLY LITTLE DUDES

  • @TheSwitchCleaner1978 first of all why are there deep purple comments on the stooges vid? second there is nothin weong with deep purple.

  • People!!! Stop comparing Deep Purple and The Stooges!! Both are amazing bands, but they are both totally different!!!

  • Fuck Deep Purple.

  • @p1nkfl0yd What's wrong with Deep Purple?

  • @The4thGuy They're pretty bland when you compare them to a lot of other bands at the time and a lot of their stuff hasn't aged well at all. At least that's the reason I've become pretty meh about them over the years.

  • @OpheliaImmortal

Their stuff not aged well? ... ha ha ... They were stale from the first moment. DP just copied in a bad way numerous other bands, only to make money.

People who liked DP 30-40 years ago, still like them and people who didn't like them, still don't like them. I don't know why there are DP comments in a Stooges song. They are completely different bands.

  • @b3yonc3LLLuva Stale from the very first moment? Listen dude, if you are respecting the Stooges for being the godfathers of punk then take time and don't disrespect one of the founders of heavy metal. It just makes you sound ignorrant. Made in Japan, Burn, In Rock? Not to mention the great bands they spawned off like Rainbow, one of the founders of neo-classical heavy metal and pre-80's Whitesnake.

You sound like an ignorant moron.

  • @TheMistercrowley Look I was just going to respond with that simple "No" cause I really don't have much else to say about it, but you're into Rainbow and possibly legit into Spinal Tap's live show as a legitimate fan so we must view music on an entirely different level. That's ok. I'm not gonna be a dick about it, different tastes exist. I don't even remember what band we were talking about here. If it's Deep Purple, they're really not very good in my opinion. Studio or live.

  • @OpheliaImmortal Ok brother, my whole point was let's not disrespect people like Purple or the Stooges, they both were pioneers in their respective genres and I noticed you said stale so I wanted to inform you that in those early albums, Purple had pretty stale productive and live albums like Made in Japan really made them come alive. I love Rainbow as well, for Dio's vocals, Ritchie, Cozy Powell, and the amazing songwriting and neo classical metal. No, Spinal Tap is just a parody lol

  • @TheMistercrowley purple? rainbow? dio? i see, you like your "rock music" properly played by skillful technicians. they were all talented players, no questions about it. but last time i checked good rnr is a straight-forward primitive bastard, which is why to this day this album is a fucking masterpiece and rainbow is stale compendium of pointless solos and academic inferiority complexes. my props to blackmore for his work with j meek though, just like eddie is one lovely tune.

  • @SpaceBambino Listen dude, I don't listen to The Stooges. It's easy to make an argument and hit bellow the belt by stupid counter points. But I still remain a respectful person and say The Stooges were innovators in their genre.

If you're gonna come here and disrespect legends of rock music then you're the narrow minded one in this argument. Yes, Ronnie James Dio, Blackmore, Cozy Powell, they're all legends. Every last one of them.

  • @SpaceBambino It will be the same thing if I say you're only saying the guitar solos are pointless because Punk musicians can't play guitar solos to save their lives and only play buncha distorted power chords.

    But I don't say that do I?

  • @OpheliaImmortal I favorite buncha random stuff so i could watch it on my tv right away going to the favorites section and not search with the remote :P

  • @OpheliaImmortal The people that pretty much invented Speed Metal have not aged well? Have you heard Made in Japan released in 1974? It's pure heavy metal when done live and it has aged very well.

  • This is not "proto-punk" its MOTOWN

  • smoke on the water( Deep purple )album machine head 1972 Im loose ( The Stooges )album fun house 1970

  • This owns Smoke on the Water.

  • Nothing like flying down the highway with a Hells Angel coworker listening to this album, wired on speed, and going to ram reinforcing steel all day at work.

  • "ah, look out!" Lol! Iggy is sooooooooo freaking badass! I love it!

  • But I LIKE big dumb chord riffs!

  • Greatest album of all time.

  • However good this is I can't listen to it ever again after he did that car insurance commercial. He has that little character that he think excuses him. No! That makes it worse. This is all completely worthless now he's come to stand for naught. An establish figure. He's awful and so now is this track. I can't listen to The Stooges ever again. Long live the MC5!

  • @71brett *He*, not The Stooges.

  • @71brett

Iggy departed from Stooges lifestyle in late 70s-early 80s, as i saw in some video i think, he had a very hard time then and he could never be the same.

Also, as some members of MC5 said at interviews a few years ago, they believe they are much better persons and musicians now they have stopped drugs, police arrests and "bad" attitude.

You are certainly in great need for new rock stars to idolize.

  • @b3yonc3LLLuva Nah it's wrong, the dolls fucking suck ass now, steve conte is a dick hole.

  • @71brett

    Grow up.

  • can´t you imagine a drunk steel worker from a factory nailing a toothless junkie prostitute in a filthy alley in Detroit? If you can´t, maybe you should listen to this album again.

  • I was here before Cracked =D lol

  • I threw my shoulder out mentally playing air guitar to this song.

  • was living in Perth playing a little bit of music back in mid seventies USED TO HAVE COUPLE OF HUNDRED WATT STEREO SYSTEM IN MY BEDROOM Speakers cranked to about 9 that`s how i used to go to sleep at night with turntable on repeat Listening to Stooges i found his voice very soothing....Troubled youth and all that...neighbours must have hated me

    Billy Orphan

  • Poseurs crap their pants when they hear this.

  • its not classic rock ... its the start of punk!!!

  • god damn

  • What can i say? Awesome!!

All you Deep Purple kids, there is nothing for you here. Go back to your beloved Blackmore please. This kind of music is clearly not for you.

  • @b3yonc3LLLuva Yeah that talentless hack that pioneered speed and neo classical metal and was the best shredder of his time. What a douche.

  • one of the best rock songs ever !!!!

  • Os Patetas são os melhores !!! Um salve pro Stooges

  • while all the kids at my school will be listening to wiz khalief or w.e il be listening to the stooges :)

  • Thanks Cracked!

  • @zada000 Ha, same here!

  • @tpoppapuff why d'you say garage like it's a bad thing. I'd much rather listen to garage rock that what is considered "classic rock".

  • @sknywhtboy88

Deeply Penetrated is considered "classic rock"? ha ha ...

I agree with you. Many "simple" garage songs are more elegant and with deeper feelings than some dull, meaningless "classic rock" sagas.

  • @tpoppapuff Why apologize to Iggy? Like he would actually give a fuck what a piece of shit like you thinks? Take your 2 notes and shove em up your ass.

  • @TheBrian6666 lol insecure much? cry more about it, pussy.

  • This record eats and SHITS other records. Including Raw Power (haters gon hate).

  • @alax19 Funhouse>>>>Raw Power, amen.

  • Cracked.com..

  • the riff is almost the same, but theres 2 notes missing. so it isnt the same.

  • @mishabaikal: Actually it does, musically speaking at least. The main riff is very close, but missing one note, and the chorus is the same, only repeated twice before returning to the main riff.

  • The riff that is the subject of accusation can barely be heard here, and Smoke on the Water only sounds like this if you are trying hard to make the two songs sound alike.

But consider this: Deep Purple took a riff and made it memorable; a rapper would take that riff and butcher it.

  • @PsychoticSnake I can hear the bass just fine, and it's really the instrument that's doing the riff (with two extra notes at the end), but I do amplify my bass, so other people might simply not hear the instrument.

  • CRACKED

  • Deep Purple ripped this off? But this song ripped off the MC5's Kick Out the Jams

  • Deep Purple ain't got shit on Iggy and The Stooges!

  • Goddamnit Gladstone

  • @Skullfaakked What does this mean?

  • Cracked

  • @kringlehero: Yup.

  • @kringlehero

In a strange coincidence i discovered and was listening to this album for the first time in my life just a day before the cracked article linked me to this song. BTW The Stooges kick ass.

  • i forgot how I got it but i still have this album t-shirt

  • Im gonna see Iggy Pop And the Stooges this sunday!!! - Fuckinelllla!!!! ; )

  • Actually the "Smoke On the Water" riff was most likely derived from "Maria Quiet" by Astrud Gilberto. Jon Lord was an accomplished jazz pianist and was most likely aware of that song.

  • @brianpage100 John Lord did not write the SOTW riff...

  • What a great fucking record "Funhouse" is!, it´s got everything: massive sound, hypnotic riffs, great basslines and Iggy pop at it´s best ever (in my opinion), it´s aggressive, raw, dirty, it´s just epic...pretty brave (but mental) thing to do 41 years ago, I guess...

  • epic

  • I bought Raw Power in '73 .... loved The Stooges ever since! If someone had said to me back then that when you are 52 (38 years later) you will be dancing on stage with The Stooges at a rock festival ... I would have said 'fuck yeah!' ... dream do come true :-)

  • This record EATS other Records.

  • los stooges vuelven a los angeles y san francisco... lean nuestro reporte en español!!

  • one of the greatest rock jams ever!

  • @POOPLULZFART - Thanks for the heads up, genius. I'll be sure next time to trust the wisdom with the user name POOPLULZFART. Dipshit.

  • I feel very privileged to have seen these guys many times back in the day--you could hear Ron Ashtons wahwah a mile away at Goose Lake Rock fest

  • @jtdrifter That's fucking awesome. You were privileged indeed.

  • The photographer who did the cover to Fun House also shot the cover for Captain Beefheart's Trout Mask Replica. This album cover always made me think of molten lava flowing through underground caverns, much like the music itself.

  • Uh, Loose and Smoke on the Water don't sound anything alike

  • @FuttBucker667 Well they don't sound alike, but the guitar riff throughout is basically the same notes. Its just that on this song they are heavier and faster played.

  • @dissent88 And it's in another key and the rythym is different but other than those small details I suppose it's the exact same song . . . : S

  • @FuttBucker667 One question: did you come to listen to song after reading wikipedia's excerpt on "Smoke On The Water" where it said the song is loosely based on this one? I ask you because i did that. Seems that many youtubers and wikipediars do the same thing.

  • @heinzpo No. I just mentioned it because a lot of people in the comment section were talking about how similar the two songs are. Personally, I dont see it.

  • @heinzpo me too personally i think the similarity is overstated

  • @gamester57 FYI guys, Deep Purple has many alike with other songs. Have you tried Fascinating Rhythm with Burn or Bombay Calling vs Child In Time or Wring That Neck with John and Dewy? That last one i found really interesting.

  • @heinzpo

Deep Shit was just a very bad copy of many rock bands. They took great songs and served them to 8 years old children with the appropriate packaging. I think 8 years old children were insulted by this complete lack of spirit, taste and reality.

Deep Shit is considered one of the greatest rock bands ever? And fathers of heavy metal? Ha ha. They were only useless tin cans.

  • @dancing0being Too bad you haven't heard any of their songs besides Smoke On The Water, one of their worst songs. Damn shame, too. They're a great band, but then again their music is probably too complicated for someone as unintelligent as you to enjoy.

  • @Limelight05 Lol. Yeah, Deep Purple's music is real "complicated"... Not.

  • @Limelight05

Unfortunately i know almost all of 60s-70s DP "songs". I wish i never heard all that crap. Waste of time.

I like heavy metal mate. Deepest Shit certainly has nothing to do with it. At their best they were an elementary school bubblegum band.

  • @dancing0being No, they weren't, that's fanboyism speaking. Ritchie Blackmore is still one of the most influential guitarists ever. But yeah, Smoke In The Water does suck big time.

  • smoke on the water is a copy of this

  • @olddude521...you rock, my man.

  • So good! But who the F was listening to this in 1970?

  • @flyingsaucer66 I was, and I just turned 60 years old. But i'll have to admit, not many people were. Their albums all ended up on cutout racks for 99 cents apiece. Just goes to show, they were waaaaaay ahead of their times.

  • @flyingsaucer66 Loved their irreverence and this incredible music when I was a teen in 1970 and saw them live a number of times in those years. I just had the pleasure of seeing them in Ann Arbor after 40 years and I am in awe all over again.

  • this is the sh##!........

  • cool !!!!

  • "I can't wait for Glee to do a Stooges song"

  • @BlueOrpheus1988 DIE!!!!!

  • 1 ppl go t the hell

  • It's like what Rollins said; this album makes you wanna fight and fuck at the same time. Especially this song. This is the kind of music weight rooms should be blasting 24/7 isntead of shitty pop music.

  • @RootDown18 Yeah man - I'de go the Dentists if they played the Stooges while i wait..Good idea dude!

  • @indoorsun I wanna go to kmart and hear this on the muzak system!

  • @RootDown18 damn straight, I fucking hate listening to TI and Nelly while I'm trying to get pumped.. stupid upperclassman.

  • @RootDown18

What doesn't make Rollins want to fight and fuck?

  • @RootDown18 Fighting and fucking at the same time, mixes as good/bad as cannabis and amphetamine in my/your head. All this make sense only in music and that is great!

  • @RootDown18 Do you mean shitty pop music or pop music in general cuz pop music is awesome iggy and john lydon would tell you the same.

  • @RootDown18 lol, Gay. a song that makes you wanna fight & fuck blasted in weight rooms, lol.

  • Stooges are cool as fuckin fuck man - Nevermind Motorhead!!

  • you pussy ass bitch dosnt drink VODKA

  • deep inside.... loose

  • Doesn't it sound like smoke on the water?

  • @oren74 Smoke on the Water sounds like Loose, as Loose came out two years earlier.

  • so I'm guessing he's singing about his ass?

  • @Koolkitties WAT?

  • BEST ALBUM OF ALL FUCKING TIME!!!!!!!!!

  • awesome song!!!!

  • bass line is cold blooded!

  • My new favorite song..rocking grove

  • "I stick it deep inside, 'coz, I'm LOOSE!" Nobody but Iggy could get away with singing that back in1970, when this album was first released! That's what I like about the Igster...he's the real article, no bullshit!

  • This is a stellar song to have sex to!

  • This is punk at its best; such a hypnotic groove.

  • it seems that Im misunderstood. I love Motorhead too. This comment came from an old ppost that i dont remember. The Stooges are however, LOUDER!

  • this is SOOOOOO WILD !!!

  • csm eso patea culos impresionantemente

  • Just bought this album on CD today.

  • ouf !

  • hyptnotik, demoniaque, apocalyptique!!,destructeur!!! a classic!!! remember me the first time somewhere in 1986 when i was young , in my little bedroom put the tape of funhouse and.... the flash!!!! just great, when you feel hungry i suggest to put this album, and after no future!!!....thanks for postin' this!!! from france clément

  • punk before punk had a name :p the stooges are the best ever i have all these on vinyl!

  • You gotta give Ron Asheton credit for that riff, its one of the most shredding fucking riffs ive ever heard.

  • stop being a scaredy cat and try some coke

  • @royalnash no thanks i like pepsi

    ZING!

  • @royalnash

"No, thanks. I must always have My Way" Sid Vicious said.

    And i think Iggy too.

  • One of my all time favourite albums is the Fun House.

  • cocaine makes sex more enjoyable for some reason the orgasm is even more pleasurable you should all try it.

  • @royalnash

    No thanks.

  • hey this ain't no Motorhead vs. Stooges debate. 2 bands... 2 different and good thang... now what counts. oh, ya... could you remind me what counts. i play guitar and i am from Lincoln Park Michigan and i don't not give a fuck about what you think.

  • This is a good time, A time you never forget. sex - the sh*t- great times.

  • stooopid!

  • a pretty thang, ain't no wall. this song is all about fuckin on cocaine boys and girls

  • @TheBlackWelshman haha woops thought this was down on the street before it started, but this is about the same thing hahaha

  • This song cannot be played LOUDLY enough.

  • the best mind blowing experience you can have aurally without drugs.

  • Best front album cover in earth history. Super great fantastic (ultimate) song.

  • After going back to listen to Kick Out The Jams first, the riff does sound similar, but with them both being such simple riffs, it would be like arguing over someone having an arpeggio that sounds similar to one in some other song.

  • Dont compare the stooges to motorhead dickhead, both legendary bands in their own right. This is without a doubt my favourite song of all time, I love the fact that whatever volume you play it at it just sounds massive

  • @theguitargodful

I try to avoid no1 songs but this could easily be.

  • Fuck you grglcs ! Both Lemmy and Iggy rules !

  • Demencial, no hay otra palabra. =))

  • Blowing mind!!!

  • Motorhead sucks so much, i cant stand them at all

  • @TheFurthur Why?

  • i stick it deep inside i stick it deep inside cuz im loose!

perhaps the most "to the point" statement in rock n roll.
