Im not totally sure, but when i was stood in my pond (cleaning) i think i saw one baby koi swim out from under the fountain. Im not sure though as there have been a lot of problems in the pond and out of the 15 first bought fish, only 9 are left, they died from something so if it was a baby fish, how did it survive and the adults didnt? I will go back in soon to see if i can see it again and catch it.
Awww! I hope the wee little fry grow up and do well. That's a beautiful setup you have there! Having your fish breed is like the ultimate pat on the back for fishkeepers. Well done! :)
What to feed baby koi cause i was thinkinh that they can't eat big food so i was think that maybe if you crack the food into pieces then it would be a good food or theres a different food for baby kois?
@suiteangel45 at this size you can see that the food is breaking down(dissolving with the help of the water) and he's getting pieces every time he nibbles, but when they first hatch i'm assuming microscopic organizisms/algae because they are so small you can barely see them and as they grow insect larvae. my pond is sooo green there has got to be everything in there for it to eat.
@apauln hi im looking to set up a koi pond already have a pond came with house bout 100 gALLons but its full of algae i put some algae treater in not much help how do you deal with the algae dose it harm the koi?
@dolittle1992 of couse, i didn't think i had to point that out. it was one of many that hatched about 2 months earlier, but it was a new born to me. when exactly is the cut off point to when one can't call it a new born anymore? 1st minute? hour? day?
when they were newly hatched you could barely see them, and i couldn't tell which was a koi or rosey or a shiner... they were all just 2 dots for eyes and a piece of thread for bodies...

I can see the newborn above the round rock at 0.06 to 0.07 seconds, it's so tiny.

adrianapintas 1 year ago
@adrianapintas most all big fish eat little fish... the koi's eat the eggs right after laying them if they can get to them...
