Hilarious as these are, to be fair to the contestants, they're probably nervous as hell, confused beyond belief, and have five other people shouting (sometimes conflicting) instructions and advice to them as they try to make sense of a life-size Rube Goldberg machine. All the while with a madman yelling that they're running out of time.

They're doing individual shots, so when we see it on tv going from the presenter to the contestants, it has actually been done altogether before hand and split, although i have to admit the audios not that loud so i din't get it myself. They do some simular stuff throughout this and the second out takes videos. Hope that helps.

Not nessesarily no, but it makes the games look more challenging. Its mostly done for presentation to make it interesting for the audience to watch. As with the breathless bit, i don't get that either, but it could have been done for the same reason, to make the game look good prehaps? Long live crystal maze, i love it!

Breathless was for continuity; because we shot the show over a whole day the contestants might just have come back from lunch but in the show they have just run from another zone so they should be out of breath.

The five "game shows" I shall forever hold in my mind as wonderful beyond belief were "The Crystal Maze", "Now Get Out Of That", "The Adventure Game", "The Great Egg Race" and "The Krypton Factor". Of those, "The Crystal Maze" is probably the closest I'd consider to being the Ultimate, a good test of every faculty and ability. If you'd unlimited time and money, and could borrow anything you liked from other shows, what would you do to make it the true ultimate contest?
