Some people do, and that's what this song is... a warning to not give up human company for drugs/addiction. But drugs might not even be the problem here, but rather human ego. For it was partially her ego that prevented her from accepting his attempt to flatter her.
@sobeita People get together to smoke weed and drink alcohol, maybe to do cocaine....but true drug addicts isolate themselves from everyone, including family, to do their drugs....because the drugs become the only "person" they need, it becomes their family and friends. Coming from a former heroin addict.
@sobeita yea well hard drugs will seriously make you not give a fuck about anything in your life. like to the point of basically decaying... mentally and physically. i used to do brown sugar heroin for like 8 months. At first, it was like I was in disneyworld, but the back of your brain eventually destroys whatever care you have for your family, friends, and even yourself. all those good friends and drinking buddies are replaced by the drug and one or two other guys who do the drug. it sucks ass
@renzolikescheez You made my fucking day with that comment, couldent agree more. They both have a dark aspect to them, Amazing music when youre mashed and lost.
I'll be honest, i think aesop rock is amazing but i really don't care for the song... I actually heard the instrumental of this track before i heard the whole thing, and i think the beats amazing, i just expected Aes to have a different flow then the one you hear... Still, this album is great, i bet Fumes will be like how his song None Shall Pass was for me, i didn't like it at first but then i kept listening to it and ended up loving it.
Me & mine saw Aes at the Granada here in Dallas saturday night and it was off the fucking brackets! I posted what little video i could salvage on my home page, check it out if you'd like
Aesop puts simple overall messages that are implied for example: don't be a druggie... point is it is a story about a girl having this bro wanna marry her and shit, but she doesn't love him she loves the drugs. better and more clever then a anti drug campaign.
@dundalkmythsnonhackd I agree with TairyHesticles, Definitely against HARD drugs, I think specificly coke/crack in this song. Drugs that arent detrimental to your health (Or that are beneficial such as Cannabis) are fine. They add a sophistication and higher level thinking to the every day.
"Feverishly sponged up the information high" Is a demonstration of this aquisition of knowladge through drugs, Though in this case at the cost of his health (And the life of the woman he loved)
@H3RMYSTRAPON walking through aesop's mind would be like prostituting in mexico.. You're just asking to be raped. In this case however, you'd be intellectually and poetically raped.
The plot is boy meets girl. Boys falls for girl. She pretends to fall for him, but its only for the drugs he gives her. The climax is: "...never having gathered her rabid enthusiasm over language was fashioned around the aspirin his cabinets, asked her to read it expecting flattery after the fact, this is an exact imitation of how she react: "you ain't shit man, your story's a joke, you should package it with a last smoke and 6 feet of rope"
now the dizziness is similar to whimsy with a pretty twist, if pretty is a bidding war for meteors of iffy sniff, and cigarettes and pills on the speaker silouhetted by the muted television and the rickety venetians. that beat is FIRE
labour days was my first aesop album.. within the first week of me getting it.. i listened to it at least 3 times a day.. all the way through.. i loved that each track stayed in ure head because it was still all clear about what the album is about from the outset.. took me a while to get used to NSP.. but i love it now.. what's float like?

You should package it with a last smoke and 6 feet of rope.

(continued)... Then the chorus:
An object at rest tends to remain at rest
And an object in motion tends to remain in motion
With the same speed... slow down
With the same speed... slow down
With the same speed... slow down
And in the same direction
Down... down... down...
She was caught in the inertia of addiction. His love didn't stop her. She coasted on the fumes of addiction to her death.
