Honduras is our bitch!, we keep our bitches in check, we don't need no idiot encouraging better education nor health. IF we can manage to overturne a U.S. Supreme Court 63 year law restraining limiting of political spending by labor and big business IMAGING! what can be done in a banana republic.
thaaaank you... finaly someone who explains it the proper way. The constitution says that any individual who violates article 239 is sanctioned with "the immediate removal of those involved"
you are right and its not a military coup because the president is not the general of the honduras army and chavez was trying to have honduras under his order because honduras have the higher population and the army is very strong which was going to help him to conquer th e central america countries
Are the American Military Bases in Honduras authorized by the Honduran Constitution? Why does the USA need a big base there anyway? What? The Central Americans are going to start refining Uranium?
The US bases have not put a dent in the Drug trade.
Bring the American Bases and military personnel in Hounduras to the USA/MEXICAN Border, Thats were the USA needs some soldiers.
Now the US GOV.. is promoting a Dictator - destroying a constitution- for what?
Fact is, there is no such thing as impeachment in Honduras as the guy on this video stated. The Honduran Congress voted 125-3 for Zelaya to be fired and the Honduran Supreme court ruled 15-0 for him to be removed from office. The military was to remove him from the Presidential Palace. They did but they also took him to Costa Rica which was wrong of them. That is the wrong that was committed... Exiling him was not legal. Everything else was legal according to the constitution.
No also according to the crminal law only police can perform arrests. Also they accepted his fake resignation, which was illegal to accept because: 1) the resignation was not signed by a notary.
2) Legally you can't quit from a position given by popular election.
Also Michelletti calls his coup "constitutional succesion" figure that only exists in monarquies. Also he call himself constitutional president when that tittle is given to people who won the popular vote.
No, only the police recieve orders from the judicial power. The congress voted to accept Zelaya's resignation on the afternoon of the day he was sent in the morning to Costa Rica get your facts right.
Honduras is much better with out Zelaya, we are going to have General Elections in November and we will choose the next term President. And if this new President try's to do the same things as Zelaya LAW will prevail once again.
thanks for you suport, I am a honduran born but I live in USA,most of us here to suport the interin president roberto micheletti,we need to tell the world that this was not a coup, that live in democracy and freedom.
i am honduran, live in honduras and what you say is 100% true. THANK YOU for helping us get the truth out there! it is impresive the amount of detail you know.... i wish all the people outside of honduras would take their time to learn the situation like you did. I AM HONDURAN AND THIS IS 100% TRUE. 90% of honduras are AGAINST MEL.
Look the ex president zelaya is being accused of 18 crimes in Honduras besides the illegal referendum also one of them is drug traffic. also in the first week that he was exiled he spend $80000 of the money of town!! in what? who knows? Also he says the In Honduras miltary forces have take streets and there is no way of communication in here! well thats another lie!! Please USA dont stop helping us, most of the town dont want this idiot here!! From Honduras

The last country to get kicked out of the OAS? Cuba.
Honduras is currently cut off from the free world.
Micheletti has lied about countries who recognize his power.
Congress has suspended various rights of the Constitution.
Radios from Tocoa to El Progresso have been shut down and are being guarded by military.
Explain these things to me. This isn't about SOCIALISM. This isn't about MEL. Those things have been supposedly kicked out by the coup. So why aren't things better?
I start only by telling you that you should read the constitution of Honduras. If you read a bit more about it you will get an idea of why Zelaya is out of the picture. Unfortunately our countries have a bad reputation from the past. These days are long over but there is a new movement in Latin America (Chavismo) moving the poor who are, unfortunately, easy to allure with pretty words about equality. The media are a powerful source of missinformation, so trust not what they say, learn yourself.
Roberto Micheletti is an INTERIM president. It is totally useless to whine about him, as he was chosen by the supreme court in a constitutional succession of events following the removal of a President. He may not be the best man for the job, and he may not be who "the Honduran people" want to be president, but he WILL be the president (INTERIM president) for the next 6 months until free elections in January...do you know what interim means?
You talk so much about "interim" and "Dictatorships" and yet don't seem to know the history of how most latin American dicatorships began...with military force covered up by "interim governments". Honduras is under military control, with suspended rights, lies flying around regarding who their allies are and cut off from the free world. And your telling me that it's this way because it fought against communism? You're obviously not familiar with history nor the face of socialism.
Didn't you just tell me not to cover up the present with the past? I'm extremely familiar with history. Political extremism in general is what has driven latin american governments into the ground, not just socialism or facism.
When I speak about economics, I speak of facts. Facts are stubborn things. You speak about economics like a latte-drinking coffee shop revolutionary who clings to conspiracy and sheepishly points as many fingers as possible at the establishment, also known as the very "organizations" and "WHOEVER is in charge"...these people, whoever you tihnk they are, are the ones holding Honduras together. Facts?
Enjoyed your video and I was just wondering if you could answer the questions below regarding the new interim government. Maybe your friends in Honduras could assist you in coming up with some reasonable explanations. Thanks!
1. Since when does raising a minimum wage 60% EVER help a struggling nation out of poverty? Ever since the wage raise, sure, people are getting paid more, but foreign investors are leaving and no longer investing in honduras...thus suffocating an already struggling economy.
2. Why hasn't Mel submitted a budget (as required by the constitution) in a few years? La respuesta en breve: para que él pueda ocultar EL HURTO, LA CORRUPCIÓN, Y el NARCOTRAFICO.
1. What does this have to do with Micheletti? But since you felt the need to bring it up, as a third world country, the minimum wage goes directly to the people. Foreign investments go through the puppet organizations se up by WHOEVER is in power. You obviously know very little about economics. But here's a followup, what has caused a greater exodus of investments in Honduras; Raising the minimum wage or Micheletti's takeover? Check out the facts.
2. Mel is corrupt. You need to learn how to read and interpret "amigo". No where in my questions to I propose a reconciliation for Mel's actions. He's corrupt just like every single other Honduran president in the past. My questions are directed to Micheletti who has lied and hurt his people just as much as Mel, if not more. Why kill George the 3rd to become George the 1st?
Now that I've answered your questions, would you mind answering mine?
1. After Mel was exiled, why did Congress claim they had the presidential resignation of Mel, when Mel himself blatantly denied signing anything, showing that the resignation was forged or signed under duress? (Or that Mel had signed it willingly while he was be shipped out of the country and magically decided he did want to be President again).
Don't really have an answer for this, primarily because these facts cannot be verified...much of this conflict has been oversimplified to a "he said-she said" playground dispute.
2.Why did Micheletti publicly claim that he had the support of the governments of Taiwan, Italy and Israel, when Israeli and Italian ambassadors and the Taiwan President have publicly denied this, saying they only recognize Mel as the Honduran President?
Answer: lack of transparency. Public diplomacy v. private diplomacy. Economically speaking (again, I know nothing about economics, right? So bear with me) many nations, including the US who depend on Latin American manufacturing have PUBLICY issued their support of Mel and refused to recognize R. M. in an effort to maintain friendly trade practices with the region. You might notice that many of these countries have taken NO COURSE OF ACTION against the interim goverment. Don't drink the koolaid
3. Why did Micheletti publicly state he had lined up meetings with officials from Guatemala, Mexico and Canada regarding his time as interim President, when none of these meetings have yet to occur and all three of these countries publicly acknowledge Mel as Honduran President?
4. Why did the new Honduran government, on July 1st, suspend articles 71, 78, 79, 81, 84, 88, 99 of the Honduran Constitution from 9 at night to five in the morning, when Micheletti has publicly claimed that he has the control and support of his country?
There is no way to claim that Micheletti has the support of the entire nation of Honduras. You clearly don't see the big picture, and that sometimes it's better to NOT take everything ANY politician says literally...sometimes it's just rhetoric. Politicians are good at using rhetoric...take everything you hear with a grain of salt. How many members of Mel's OWN POLITICAL PARTY support him? Besides the ones who are related to him/take money from him...?
Ok, don't take what Micheletti says seriously. "I have meetings set up with Guatemala, Mexico and Canada and Italy, Taiwan and Israel already recognize my power". So according to you I'm supposed to take that to mean "I'm BS'ing in order to get more time because the world is starting to catch on to me". Ok. This argument isn't about Mel, it's about Micheletti and you're saying "It's just six months". JUST six months of media manipulation, suspended rights, and lies to the Honduran people.
Your own media seems to be manipulated. Message me your email address, and allow me to send you a highly objective essay written by a Honduran resident, containing only facts. Please be my guest and know that I have sources who SAW, not HEARD the events leading up to Zelayas departure and Micheletti's installation...all in context of the honduran constitution...remember...not all democratic constitutions are the same.

I'm tired of all these Gringo's talking about their "Friends" in Honduras who REALLY know what is going on. Of course the Christian Missionaries and rich Americans who move to Honduras to become someone of importance are going to lean towards those of the right wing, nationalista side. I have my own "friends" in Honduras who feed me all sorts of stuff that I didn't include because its just that..rumors.
5. Why did Micheletti feel it necessary to criticize the dangers of when families get too much power, referring to Mel and Mels nephew, Chmirri (the ex-director of Hondutel who was arrested on corruption charges), when days later after the mayor of San Pedro Sula was arrested, Michelettis own nephew took his place (As mayor)
Micheletti was VOTED into office by the supreme court, as instructed per the Honduran constitution. Keep in mind that Micheletti is only in office for a number of months, restoring constitutional order to a country who's constitution was repeatedly violated by a small minded socialist puppet government. If you are eligible to vote in Honduras, then shut up and vote after Micheletti steps down. Stop whining. He's a substitute.
So you avoided all of my questions by basically saying its all hearsay despite the fact that all of what I said came from documented interviews with those involved. So I'm whining about Micheletti despite the fact that you spent all of your posts griping about Mel who is out of power?!?! I'm not protecting Mel, I'm talking about what's currently going on in the country. Why don't we whine about Hitler? Because he's dead and is irrelevant. People like you use the past to cover the present.
There's nothing to be covered up here...Micheletti is in office until January. No te cagues...he leaves in 6 months. Show me these documented interviews. Are they from the Venezuelan media? It wouldn't surprise me in the least. You are ballot cattle...bred to blindly cast votes to the repressive regimes of latin american dictatorships. Educate yourself.
You're right, there's nothing to be covered up. Micheletti lied about Taiwan, Mexico, Guatemala, Italy, Israel and Canada and suspended the Constitution. The interviews are from the AP and CNN. But oh yeah, you people think CNN, CBS, Obama, Clinton, Chavez, Mel, the UN, Captain Crunch and Oscar the Grouch are all somehow conspiring against you. Educate yourself and try answering my questions in a manner other than Micheletti fashion..."um...it's hearsay". Dictarships? Try Banzer and Truxillo..
This isn't a military dictatorship...stop eating everything the mainstream american media feeds you...you are absolutely blind to the facts and the events surrounding the transfer of power...the SUPREME COURT and CONGRESS of Honduras VOTED (yes, democracy in action!) to have Mel removed. This wasn't the military's idea...in a military coup, by definition, a MILITARY OFFICIAL is placed into power and the military runs the state...not a congressman...

Mainstream American Media? Would you rather have me watch FoxNews? Read El Tiempo or La Prensa? Why is it that some people think the whole world is against them? The UN, OAS, CARICOM, CC, ACS, EU, IABD, World Bank, U.S. Governent, CNN, CBS, ABC, LA Times, AP and every single country in the Western Hemisphere is working against you? Stop eating the lies of the top 2% of Honduran's aristocrats and realize that the fight for democracy doesn't stop at man one. But then again, its only "six months"
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Why can't you keep focus on Micheletti. Whenever I bring him up you say "It's only six months. Stop whining". Well why didn't you treat Mel the same. People don't seem to be ignorant to the fact that even if Mel's referendum was passed and 100% voted yes, it would still have to pass in Congress. FoxNews talks like if the people voted yes on the referendum, Mel automatically became president again.
6. Why did the new Honduran Chancellor, Enrique Ortez, when asked about President Obama, respond saying "Ese negrito que no sabe nada de nada." (Look up the live interview on youtube)? Do you support racial remarks such as these?
7. Why were a group of Telesur reporters taken hostage by Honduran military and sent out of the country for no official reason after Mel was exiled (Look up the live Telesur feed on youtube)? Do you support the censorship of media?
8. Honduras has been kicked out of the OAS, the first country to have it happen to them since Cuba, penalized by the World Bank, currently unrecognized by the UN, EU, IABD, CARICOM, ACS & CC, blockaded at its borders and frankly isolated from the world. Doesnt this seem more like a COMMUNIST state than when Mel was in power? Also, isn't it ironic that the "coup" has given Chavez, for the first time in a history, a Reason to invade Honduras?

Hey greenman92553, and what president thinks he can be above the law? 98% of the honduran constitution can be changed except for the "Petreos" Articles, that means they have been written in stone, they can't be changed!!...and those are the ones zelaya instructed by chavez wanted to change...his intentions to keep in power!!
Zelaya doesn't care about poor people...jajaja...he is just using them in order to achieve his goal...and like you said... Ignorance can have terrible consecuences....and I tell you the same educate yourself man
Why dont you worry about your own country the shithole is coming apart and you are worrying about some indians south of the border....priorities man ...priorities... take care of your own shit first...its stinking the whole world
why dont you worry about your own country. We dont want gringos stiking their nose in our business. YOU stay in YOUR country and let us handle our own business.
I am very worried about my country. And I don't want my country (or the world for that matter) to be interfering in the internal business of Honduras.
The militaries forces knew this act was legal, but forced by the high class people owning companies forced them to act against the president, who is by law the COMMANDER IN CHIEF of the army forces, so if someone doesn't accomplish an superior order, in army, he has to face the results, in this case being fired by the president. The Army, entered his house(MEL) fight the honor guard, hit him and took him out of his house, kidnapped his family and send him out of the country
Besides, MEL it is a left winger...so what!? is it bad to be a left winger? it doesn't matter what your ideology is, it only matters how you help your country. What is wrong with being friend of Chavez and Fidel Castro? Isn't Obama friend of arabian countries presidents? their diferences, or the way they act or think, doesn't stop him having a relationship with them.
In other side, this oder law says, any citizen can make a consultant or a voting for asking the country, it's opinion about taking a decision. Other law says, no gobernment charge has more power than the one the country gives to him. So, anything stablished, it's caused by the country, the people, if people aproves a referendum, then it's legal, even ONU congratulated Honduras for this democracy participating act.
ok, it seems like the time you lived over here, didn't really cared, didn't even knew what was really happening. First of all, ALBA, is not formed by central america countries, it is formed bye latin american and caribean countries, 2nd, the countries that are part of ALBA are not under Chavez orders, ALBA is just like OEA, but of latin america. 3rd, since you don't know what the constitution says. I'll tell you, the law that MEL was "breaking" says no president can stay more than 4 years
don't pay attention to this petarro, because the articule is true 43 , but he was the first one the brake the law , he can't impose a referendum that doen't go with the law here in Honduras.
Newsflash for everyone... Zelaya is part of the honduran Oligarchy, he was an anti-comunist, and now out of nowhere he is comunist. Im from Honduras and i live here, i read the constitution and he was breaking the law, im a lawyer so i now quite a few about this, So please undestand.
Theres very little truth to anything youve read about the coup in American newspapers. President Manuel Zelaya is no radical. He approved a big minimum wage increase, which was desperately needed in a country where so many workers are poor, but otherwise has been a very cautious, ineffectual reformer. The intensity of the reaction against him by the Honduran elite, as seen in the coup, reflects the feudal mentality of the traditional economic and political leadership, not Zelayas politics.
Do you have any idea what a 60% minimum wage increase does to the economy of a third world nation that depends on a struggling domestic textile manufacturing industry? Mel fixed oil prices with Chavez, controls his country's oil importation to boost the Venezuelan petroleum industry. Mel hasn't submitted a single budget to congress in 3 years...now why would a democratically elected president not do that? You DON'T KNOW Mel's politics.
Mel, Mel, Mel, Mel, Mel. Can you get it across your head that I'm not defending Mel. Pick any past Honduran president and I'll give you corruption charges by the pounds. This is about the now! You justify Micheletti's lies and suspending of rights by Mel's past corruption?!?! Mel is out, gone, swooshed. It's clear he's not coming back as president. Now face the monster you have in front of you. Investors are leaving Honduras because they can't predict Micheletti's next BS move!
im from Honduras...and im glad that somebody explains to the world what is really going on here..the OEA and the world only see this "coup"...and not the reasons.
MEL ZELAYA WAS OUSTED AND NOT PUT IN JAIL FOR THE FOLLOWING REASON; iF HE WAS IN JAIL IN HONDURAS , IT WOULD PRODUCE VIOLENT CLASHES AND THOUSANDS WOULD BE KILLED. IMAGINE IF THE PLANE HAD LANDED YEATERDAY AND THE POLICE ATTEMPTED TO ARREST HIM IN FRONT OF THAT MOB AT THE AIRPORT. 1 WAS KILLED YESTERDAY, NOW IMAGINE HOW MANY IF HE HAD LANDED AND WAS ARRESTED
My understanding is that the Honduran military's first responsibility is to the constitution. So according to the Supreme Court they were being asked to violate the constitution by holding the referendum.
I know that under the United States' system, the military is in no way obligated to carry out unconstitutional orders, in fact they are obligated to resist them, because later they may be tried for crimes and sentenced even if they were following orders.
I am a honduran who believes in a social capitalism and these so called liberators led by Chavez are only opportunists promoting their systems for their own advantage. These new socialism projects are not more than the old russian communism style which was a complete failure.
Kurthein, your analysis is fair and detailed, and what CNN report is basically a portrait of the dark past of Latinamerica, I think it is incorrect to name Chavez a dictator because he was elected by the Venezuelan people, who for many decades have been under repression by the burguese class. Chavez represents the poor, and aids their hope for a dignified life. Dictators represent oppresion, torture, dissapearances, such as Pinochet. Zelaya was voted by the people, and is therefore president.
I agree with you. Technically speaking Chavez isn't a dictator because he was elected (although many dictators of the past have been elected at first). However he is quite authoritarian. Time will tell.
I read someone says that what the military did wasnt legal, all I gotta say is that what Mel was doing wasnt legal either, so I side with the military who carried out an arrest order for treason, not a coup. I dont want a communist president in my country of Honduras
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Can we now have CNN tell the truth to what has happened. Tell it like it is. I for one am thankful that that law breaker got kicked out. He broke the law and that is all the matter., but maybe he should have been impeached along time ago and Chavez needs to mind his own business.
I think you and your friends, have your facts wrong, the issue in Honduras is not if the president was right or wrong, what have drove the support of all the countries is the way that the army forced the president out of office.-In every democratic country, they have to impeache the president and follow the due proccess wich they didn't. Just think about it,if he wanted to follow the steps of Chavez,do you think that even USA would be supporting his returning to power? they didn't do it right !!!.
The impeachment process was in motion, but Zelaya is so corrupt he bought some officials and slipped thru, so this was the only way to do it. U werent there and u dont know the facts, Imagine Obama wanting to become a dictator, wtf u think ppl would do??
stosin: Your claims are nowhere validated. The reality is the Honduran landholders, business class and military officer corp wield the REAL power thru cronies in stacked Court & Congress. As an 'expert', why don't you speak about that? Or are you invested in protecting privelege? Micheletti has always been for the rich oligarchy. He's out of favor even in his home city! Organized crime, kickbacks & drug trafficing are protected rackets of elites & military officers -- not Zelaya's crowd at ALL!
hecjmj: C'mon, get real. State Dept, MIC & Pentagon have far more foreign policy influence than Obama or even Bush had. They were 'negotiating' with the coup-plotters for weeks, trying to dissuade them from a coup, prefering a 'better' way, prison or even 'accidental' shooting. Recall US supported & led Venezualan & Haitian coups. Elite agenda has always been to demolish leftist challenges to neoliberal exploitation & rightwing power-projection. You think YOU live in a 'democratic' free society?
Again thanks for illustrating. It is so sad that the extreme right has won so much space that now any centrist attempt to bring some balance is called a leftist, etc. I really hope that my beloved country takes a new way and throws away an economic system that has for centuries exploited the majority of the people. All our govts. have been mostly corrupt including Zelaya's but the way this has been handled just reminds us how fragile our democracy is.
There are some people defending the way of governmet that Cuba has, and everyday dozens of cubans are throwing themselves into the ocean lookig for liberty?? What is wrong with them? they must be crazy to take that risk when they already live in paradise.
Considering the amount of people supporting the new authorities, we can say there are a lot of Oligarcs and in the Burgoise class.Honduras must be super rich, the comunists have a political party , elections are in 5 months, support the UD (comunist party), explain why the Socialism of the XXI century is good for the people and win the election. But please do not try to fool us and mostly , do not try to violate our constitution.
Kurthein, as an Honduran just let me say THANK YOU! Diferent things can be said to complement your info but thatis the overall picture. Honduras is truely happy see OUR constitution getting the respect Zelaya denied. We are also happy to keep our way of government and not go into a Comunist Chavez adventure, that would have brought much more misery to my country.
Who are these people writing on the forums, I AM FROM HONDURAS and this guy has the facts as they are!!!! We do not want Mel Zelaya back!!!. Oh and by the way i am not part of an elite in Honduras!!!
I am also from Honduras, and I agree with you 100% . The great majority of us hondurans do not want Zelaya back. And if OEA will force us to accept him back, then so be it but he will soon be in jail .
Baby I am from HONDURAS too, but I totally disagree with you. You don´t want the rest of the countries in the world to stop their relationships with our country do you?
When I say I desire "liberty" what I mean is that I want to see the Honduran people have free and fair elections in November as well as the constitution and rule of law followed. I suppose you desire the same?
"those dictators" ? Chavez was elected in free and fair elections, observed by international, independent observers. He is not a dictator. Who are you?!
If the United Nations with the support of 160 other countries says he is the legitimate president. Then you can bet according to Honduras Constitutional Law that Zelaya is doing his job properly. Remember with the support of 160 countries judging the law, they can't be wrong.
Dude you have to be here to know what is really happening!!! It was a military coup but your friends must be high class people to by saying that... no doubt, you should better get informed by the poor people, poor people are not happy and want mel back!!
Do you know if the Honduran constitution provides for a way to expel a president from office if that president breaks the law? If so... what is the proper process?
As far as I know there is no way to expel a president from office, therefore if the president breaks the law he could be sent to trial by the supreme court of justice and be convicted by the crime if that was the case. I strongly belive mel did not break the law and he was actually promoting an impeachment process as one of the changes for our constitution with his 4th urn.
You know...you are asking the same questions CNN had asked Mel before, but I'll go ahead and answer so you can be certain that ONU, OEA and even CNN are handling this situation correctly... sooner or later you'll find that out. / First of all, Mel never held a referendum, If he had do so, then he would have had broken the constitutional order, but he never did. What he was pushing for was a POLL in order to find out for public popular opinion.
This poll had only one simple question: "Do you agree that in the upcoming elections on November 29 to install a fourth urn which define whether or not to convene for a National Constituent Assembly?" In simple words this poll was to find out if we wanted for the 4th urn to be installed, and the 4th urn function was to collect votes to find out if we wanted a new constitution. Regardles of what the poll results were, who had the final decision to install the 4th urn was the congress.
And responding your last question, it is funny how all the persons involved in the coup are trying to hide the fact that this was certainly a coup. Even if this coup was not led by a military leader, the order given by the Supreme Court or who ever ordered this, was not to arrest the president. Military forces broke into his house at 5:30 in the morning while he was sleeping, he was kidnapped and then sent to C.R. Do you find logic not to call it a coup?
Plus - How can the S.C.J. order for the president to be arrested without a previous trial or give him the chance to defend himself? Now Micheletti, who took over Mel's place and who was the president of the Congress the day of the coup, is saying he had nothing to do with it, that this order was plain and only of the S.C.J. As of today, no one in Honduras wants to take this responsability, they are throwing the ball to each other like if they know they have done something wrong.
I am aware that not all Hondurans will agree with my comments but I personally think that the great majority of us think the same way I do about this matter. It was in fact a public opinion poll, Mel never called it in a different way. Mel never promoted socialism all those comments are based on speculations. The only crime Mel did was to care about the poor people in our country.
We would have to do a poll like the one Mel tried to do in order to see what's the real opinion from the majority of Hondurans... But of course that is not possible since it would scare the hell out of all the high class society people and they will do anything, even a coup to prevent it...
BTW, I defend democracy... but not the kind of democracy like the one this rich people have implaced in my country. They use this representative democracy to create laws that benefit their elites only.
lenin48: Just to elaborate further: Article 5 of Civilian Participation Act 2006 specifically authorizes periodic opinion poll consultation asking public re: policy issues. Zelaya was absolutely within the letter AND spirit of law. He was providing the entire public with greater political participation, the very ESSENCE of 'democracy', but which elites everywhere secretly despise & conspire to undermine since they fear sharing power & privelege with the lower-class 'masses'. THAT'S the issue.
actually its a nice analysis you have made on the events on Honduras, though they are some details which you need to know. The public poll as he called it ,became a referendum in secret by a decree which mel made by saying that the results of the poll will instantly call a constittional assembly, he made it thinking that
he was not going to be thrown away by the ppl who defend the contitution, this and many other details are going to be exposed at jury were they should be. I am, an hondurans are, confident that justice will find its way and mel will go to prison, and we dont need anyone else to say if its right or wrong, cause law isnt anyone of those.
lenin48: LOL! All it takes for braindead public to hear the words 'leftist' and they freak out, justifying whatever lies and outrage political pundits and the MSM pander. Such faithful lemmings trained to hate on cue. Absolutely no thought required to consider context, check facts or analyze. Communist hype has been used by US policymakers to rationalize the most abhorant extra-judicial violence & rightwing despotism. That legacy is STILL evident in L. America, driving the Bolivarian Revolution.
Most Hondurans elected Zelaya. The majority of Hondurans would have been in the referendum on the fourth urna.En Honduras there is a Nazi coup d'état. Traitors and those who support them, will be tried for their crimes.¡VIVA ZELAYA! ¡ABAJO LOS NAZIS OLIGARCAS! ¡VIVA LA RESISTENCIA!

Our Consitution says that Congress must authorize that foreign troops come...during the 80's Congress authorize the American troops to stay in here.
USA and Honduras need this one base named Palmerola for fighting against drug dealing.

Ulamaxh20 2 years ago 2
No also according to the crminal law only police can perform arrests. Also they accepted his fake resignation, which was illegal to accept because: 1) the resignation was not signed by a notary.
2) Legally you can't quit from a position given by popular election.
Also Michelletti calls his coup "constitutional succesion" figure that only exists in monarquies. Also he call himself constitutional president when that tittle is given to people who won the popular vote.
yoiuoisad 2 years ago
No, only the police recieve orders from the judicial power. The congress voted to accept Zelaya's resignation on the afternoon of the day he was sent in the morning to Costa Rica get your facts right.

Honduras is much better with out Zelaya, we are going to have General Elections in November and we will choose the next term President. And if this new President try's to do the same things as Zelaya LAW will prevail once again.

Yanirakarola 2 years ago
I start only by telling you that you should read the constitution of Honduras. If you read a bit more about it you will get an idea of why Zelaya is out of the picture. Unfortunately our countries have a bad reputation from the past. These days are long over but there is a new movement in Latin America (Chavismo) moving the poor who are, unfortunately, easy to allure with pretty words about equality. The media are a powerful source of missinformation, so trust not what they say, learn yourself.

Yanirakarola:
Roberto Micheletti is an INTERIM president. It is totally useless to whine about him, as he was chosen by the supreme court in a constitutional succession of events following the removal of a President. He may not be the best man for the job, and he may not be who "the Honduran people" want to be president, but he WILL be the president (INTERIM president) for the next 6 months until free elections in January...do you know what interim means?
guitarguy4991 2 years ago
You talk so much about "interim" and "Dictatorships" and yet don't seem to know the history of how most latin American dicatorships began...with military force covered up by "interim governments". Honduras is under military control, with suspended rights, lies flying around regarding who their allies are and cut off from the free world. And your telling me that it's this way because it fought against communism? You're obviously not familiar with history nor the face of socialism.
Yanirakarola 2 years ago
Didn't you just tell me not to cover up the present with the past? I'm extremely familiar with history. Political extremism in general is what has driven latin american governments into the ground, not just socialism or facism.

When I speak about economics, I speak of facts. Facts are stubborn things. You speak about economics like a latte-drinking coffee shop revolutionary who clings to conspiracy and sheepishly points as many fingers as possible at the establishment, also known as the very "organizations" and "WHOEVER is in charge"...these people, whoever you tihnk they are, are the ones holding Honduras together. Facts?

Hey Kurthein,
Enjoyed your video and I was just wondering if you could answer the questions below regarding the new interim government. Maybe your friends in Honduras could assist you in coming up with some reasonable explanations. Thanks!
Yanirakarola 2 years ago
Unas preguntitas para ti, amigo...
La respuesta en breve: para que él pueda ocultar EL HURTO, LA CORRUPCIÓN, Y el NARCOTRAFICO.
guitarguy4991 2 years ago
Yanirakarola 2 years ago
Yanirakarola 2 years ago
Yanirakarola 2 years ago
Don't really have an answer for this, primarily because these facts cannot be verified...much of this conflict has been oversimplified to a "he said-she said" playground dispute.
guitarguy4991 2 years ago
2.Why did Micheletti publicly claim that he had the support of the governments of Taiwan, Italy and Israel, when Israeli and Italian ambassadors and the Taiwan President have publicly denied this, saying they only recognize Mel as the Honduran President?
Yanirakarola 2 years ago
Answer: lack of transparency. Public diplomacy v. private diplomacy. Economically speaking (again, I know nothing about economics, right? So bear with me) many nations, including the US who depend on Latin American manufacturing have PUBLICY issued their support of Mel and refused to recognize R. M. in an effort to maintain friendly trade practices with the region. You might notice that many of these countries have taken NO COURSE OF ACTION against the interim goverment. Don't drink the koolaid
guitarguy4991 2 years ago
3. Why did Micheletti publicly state he had lined up meetings with officials from Guatemala, Mexico and Canada regarding his time as interim President, when none of these meetings have yet to occur and all three of these countries publicly acknowledge Mel as Honduran President?
Yanirakarola 2 years ago
4. Why did the new Honduran government, on July 1st, suspend articles 71, 78, 79, 81, 84, 88, 99 of the Honduran Constitution from 9 at night to five in the morning, when Micheletti has publicly claimed that he has the control and support of his country?
Yanirakarola 2 years ago
There is no way to claim that Micheletti has the support of the entire nation of Honduras. You clearly don't see the big picture, and that sometimes it's better to NOT take everything ANY politician says literally...sometimes it's just rhetoric. Politicians are good at using rhetoric...take everything you hear with a grain of salt. How many members of Mel's OWN POLITICAL PARTY support him? Besides the ones who are related to him/take money from him...?
guitarguy4991 2 years ago
Ok, don't take what Micheletti says seriously. "I have meetings set up with Guatemala, Mexico and Canada and Italy, Taiwan and Israel already recognize my power". So according to you I'm supposed to take that to mean "I'm BS'ing in order to get more time because the world is starting to catch on to me". Ok. This argument isn't about Mel, it's about Micheletti and you're saying "It's just six months". JUST six months of media manipulation, suspended rights, and lies to the Honduran people.
Yanirakarola 2 years ago
Your own media seems to be manipulated. Message me your email address, and allow me to send you a highly objective essay written by a Honduran resident, containing only facts. Please be my guest and know that I have sources who SAW, not HEARD the events leading up to Zelayas departure and Micheletti's installation...all in context of the honduran constitution...remember...not all democratic constitutions are the same.

Yanirakarola 2 years ago
Yanirakarola 2 years ago
Micheletti was VOTED into office by the supreme court, as instructed per the Honduran constitution. Keep in mind that Micheletti is only in office for a number of months, restoring constitutional order to a country who's constitution was repeatedly violated by a small minded socialist puppet government. If you are eligible to vote in Honduras, then shut up and vote after Micheletti steps down. Stop whining. He's a substitute.
guitarguy4991 2 years ago
So you avoided all of my questions by basically saying its all hearsay despite the fact that all of what I said came from documented interviews with those involved. So I'm whining about Micheletti despite the fact that you spent all of your posts griping about Mel who is out of power?!?! I'm not protecting Mel, I'm talking about what's currently going on in the country. Why don't we whine about Hitler? Because he's dead and is irrelevant. People like you use the past to cover the present.
Yanirakarola 2 years ago

It wouldn't surprise me in the least. You are ballot cattle...bred to blindly cast votes to the repressive regimes of latin american dictatorships. Educate yourself.
guitarguy4991 2 years ago

Yanirakarola 2 years ago
Yanirakarola 2 years ago

Wraith050988 2 years ago
Theres very little truth to anything youve read about the coup in American newspapers. President Manuel Zelaya is no radical. He approved a big minimum wage increase, which was desperately needed in a country where so many workers are poor, but otherwise has been a very cautious, ineffectual reformer. The intensity of the reaction against him by the Honduran elite, as seen in the coup, reflects the feudal mentality of the traditional economic and political leadership, not Zelayas politics.
starmanskye 2 years ago
Do you have any idea what a 60% minimum wage increase does to the economy of a third world nation that depends on a struggling domestic textile manufacturing industry? Mel fixed oil prices with Chavez, controls his country's oil importation to boost the Venezuelan petroleum industry. Mel hasn't submitted a single budget to congress in 3 years...now why would a democratically elected president not do that? You DON'T KNOW Mel's politics.

Zelaya was voted by the people, and is therefore president.
gonza81 2 years ago
I agree with you. Technically speaking Chavez isn't a dictator because he was elected (although many dictators of the past have been elected at first). However he is quite authoritarian. Time will tell.

Hecjmj 2 years ago
The impeachment process was in motion, but Zelaya is so corrupt he bought some officials and slipped thru, so this was the only way to do it. U werent there and u dont know the facts, Imagine Obama wanting to become a dictator, wtf u think ppl would do??
stosin 2 years ago
stosin: Your claims are nowhere validated. Organized crime, kickbacks & drug trafficing are protected rackets of elites & military officers -- not Zelaya's crowd at ALL!
starmanskye 2 years ago
hecjmj: C'mon, get real. You think YOU live in a 'democratic' free society?
starmanskye 2 years ago

Ultramets 2 years ago
Kurthein, as an Honduran just let me say THANK YOU! Diferent things can be said to complement your info but thatis the overall picture. Honduras is truely happy see OUR constitution getting the respect Zelaya denied. We are also happy to keep our way of government and not go into a Comunist Chavez adventure, that would have brought much more misery to my country.

Of course, all the world is wrong and you are rigth... Why you vote if you can take the power with a gun... Man, the smart you are really scare me

Who are these people writing on the forums, I AM FROM HONDURAS and this guy has the facts as they are!!!! We do not want Mel Zelaya back!!!. Oh and by the way i am not part of an elite in Honduras!!!
vane2778 2 years ago
I am also from Honduras, and I agree with you 100% . The great majority of us hondurans do not want Zelaya back. And if OEA will force us to accept him back, then so be it but he will soon be in jail .
jmolina103 2 years ago
Baby I am from HONDURAS too, but I totally disagree with you. You don´t want the rest of the countries in the world to stop their relationships with our country do you?
ingdenniskings 2 years ago
agree , also from Honduras people really need to understand that we DID NOT WANT that animal as president and that's why we kicked him out!
randyana 2 years ago
you obviously have the wrong kind of
friends.
people like them supported ALCA to exploit latin america in favour of a small rich bourgoise "elite".
most people have learned that ALBA - in contradiction to ALCA - is a great program for the people of Latin America.
there s no way back to the old days of anti-communist dictatorships in Latin America.
so dont YOU tell us about democracy and "liberty", everybody sees its pure hypocrazy.
get educated!
pentagrom 2 years ago
When I say I desire "liberty" what I mean is that I want to see the Honduran people have free and fair elections in November as well as the constitution and rule of law followed. I suppose you desire the same?
kurthein 2 years ago
oh well if all 11 of your friends say so, it must be true! eyeroll.
IzabelParis 2 years ago
"those dictators" ? Chavez was elected in free and fair elections, observed by international, independent observers. He is not a dictator. Who are you?!
IzabelParis 2 years ago
That is true. I conflated Fidel with Chavez improperly in my statement.
kurthein 2 years ago
If the United Nations with the support of 160 other countries says he is the legitimate president. Then you can bet according to Honduras Constitutional Law that Zelaya is doing his job properly. Remember with the support of 160 countries judging the law, they can't be wrong.
mrgavine 2 years ago
Dude you have to be here to know what is really happening!!! It was a military coup but your friends must be high class people to by saying that... no doubt, you should better get informed by the poor people, poor people are not happy and want mel back!!
lenin48 2 years ago
Do you know if the Honduran constitution provides for a way to expel a president from office if that president breaks the law? If so... what is the proper process?
kurthein 2 years ago
As far as I know there is no way to expel a president from office, therefore if the president breaks the law he could be sent to trial by the supreme court of justice and be convicted by the crime if that was the case. I strongly belive mel did not break the law and he was actually promoting an impeachment process as one of the changes for our constitution with his 4th urn.
lenin48 2 years ago
I suppose that is possible, however why didn't he follow the law and have the referendum earlier? The timing makes his motives suspect.
My understanding is that Mel was breaking the law by attempting to hold the referendum in contradiction to the Supreme Court's ruling.
Perhaps I'm missing something... but this is my bottom line question:
How can it be a coup if the military was following orders from the Supreme Court and Congress?
kurthein 2 years ago
You know...you are asking the same questions CNN had asked Mel before, but I'll go ahead and answer so you can be certain that ONU, OEA and even CNN are handling this situation correctly... sooner or later you'll find that out. / First of all, Mel never held a referendum, If he had do so, then he would have had broken the constitutional order, but he never did. What he was pushing for was a POLL in order to find out for public popular opinion.
lenin48 2 years ago
This poll had only one simple question: "Do you agree that in the upcoming elections on November 29 to install a fourth urn which define whether or not to convene for a National Constituent Assembly?" In simple words this poll was to find out if we wanted for the 4th urn to be installed, and the 4th urn function was to collect votes to find out if we wanted a new constitution. Regardles of what the poll results were, who had the final decision to install the 4th urn was the congress.
lenin48 2 years ago
And responding your last question, it is funny how all the persons involved in the coup are trying to hide the fact that this was certainly a coup. Even if this coup was not led by a military leader, the order given by the Supreme Court or who ever ordered this, was not to arrest the president. Military forces broke into his house at 5:30 in the morning while he was sleeping, he was kidnapped and then sent to C.R. Do you find logic not to call it a coup?
lenin48 2 years ago
Plus - How can the S.C.J. order for the president to be arrested without a previous trial or give him the chance to defend himself? Now Micheletti, who took over Mel's place and who was the president of the Congress the day of the coup, is saying he had nothing to do with it, that this order was plain and only of the S.C.J. As of today, no one in Honduras wants to take this responsability, they are throwing the ball to each other like if they know they have done something wrong.
lenin48 2 years ago
Lenin48, just so you know, incase you didnt know this het, not all Hondurans (including myself) agree with you on this.
yes it had to be done!
it was not a popularity poll
and how can you support someone that promotes socialism and is NOTHING but a PUPPET for Hugo Chavez
you are a sad disgrace to our nation
ereyes28 2 years ago
I am aware that not all Hondurans will agree with my comments but I personally think that the great majority of us think the same way I do about this matter. It was in fact a public opinion poll, Mel never called it in a different way. Mel never promoted socialism all those comments are based on speculations. The only crime Mel did was to care about the poor people in our country.
lenin48 2 years ago
no sweety, the majority of Hondurans do NOT agree with you.
you really should do more studying on this unless you are a socialist and finds ways around the term "socialist" to promote socialistm.
ereyes28 2 years ago
We would have to do a poll like the one Mel tried to do in order to see what's the real opinion from the majority of Hondurans... But of course that is not possible since it would scare the hell out of all the high class society people and they will do anything, even a coup to prevent it...
BTW, I defend democracy... but not the kind of democracy like the one this rich people have implaced in my country. They use this representative democracy to create laws that benefit their elites only.
lenin48 2 years ago
"Mel never promoted socialism"
That's false. I've heard him myself promote socialism many times.
kurthein 2 years ago
lenin48: Just to elaborate further: Article 5 of Civilian Participation Act 2006 specifically authorizes periodic opinion poll consultation asking public re: policy issues.

Thanks for illustrating the truth
gmsc69 2 years ago 2
actually its a nice analysis you have made on the events on Honduras, though they are some details which you need to know. The public poll as he called it ,became a referendum in secret by a decree which mel made by saying that the results of the poll will instantly call a constittional assembly, he made it thinking that
CCasas8 2 years ago
he was not going to be thrown away by the ppl who defend the contitution, this and many other details are going to be exposed at jury were they should be. I am, an hondurans are, confident that justice will find its way and mel will go to prison, and we dont need anyone else to say if its right or wrong, cause law isnt anyone of those.
CCasas8 2 years ago
lenin48: LOL!
