Say what you want but Resurrection was my favorite in the series- it was artistic and very visual. It was less about action, less about fear and more about getting you thinking which I thought was brilliant. Plus that underwater sequence gets me everytime :D

I have to ask why so many people were disappointed, and/or just didn't like Resurrection. I grew up with the series as one of my favorite sci-fi series of all time, and I loved it. So what did you all not like about it?

@Thor42013 I'm with you there man. Very underrated movie I mean it's ALIEN! What did they think the movie was gonna be like? I thought it was great and very entertaining as are all of the movies in this fantastic series. Can't wait for Ridley Scott's "Prometheus" which he said is linked to "Alien" and is like a prequal.

@Thor42013 I did not like it because it was self-parodying. It had an element of 'comedy' (for lack of a better word) that is mostly non-existent in the previous three films (there are moments in "Aliens" and "Alien 3," but they're few and far between). There are moments in Alien:Resurrection that are silly; they are an insult to both the viewer and the previous three films.

@Thor42013 I think most people didn´t like the overall appearance and stile of the movie. The fast cuts, the unmasking of the Alien creature, the far-fetched storyline, the stereotypical cast. It was the original ideas that made Alien so unique. Resurrection was not original enough. I mean C´mon Ripley died in 3 and thats just a fair end to the series. Why not making a prequel?

I assume that Prometheus will suck because today scriptwriters tend to exaggerate. Alien 1,2,3 were credible

I don't know why people are bagging this movie.I really liked it after the dull Alien 3. The underwater scenes where they are trying to out swim the aliens scared the shit out of me.It was like a nightmare where you try to out run your monsters but your limbs are encased in jelly.Even the AVP movies weren't that bad.I'd watch them ten times over rather than a chick flick rom-com or a harry potter movie.

My opinion on this film as a film student was that all cloning issues aside it had so much potential. is it a bad movie? not really (it had its ups and downs) is it the worst of the 4? yeah it is! it's kinda like Terminator 3 Rise of the Machines. I mean Terminator 2 wrapped up the story, and even gave us an alternate ending where we see the future after the events of T2. Then almost ten years later we get a story that completely negates what we were lead to believe.

I don't know if it was intentional (we, Europeans, have some strange sense of humour), but a lot of moments in this film are totally off-the-wall. An alien bursting through the head was one of them.

I'm all up to a civilised discussion here and I must say both Alien3 and Resurrection were superior to the Aliens. Well, okay, Alien3 was for sure and we all feel "odd" towards Alien4. I loved Aliens being a 12-year old (because of multiple ka-booms mostly), but Alien3-4 have a spirit of the 1st .

I was legitimately ANGRY it did not get made... basically, Ripley was in a coma, the pods landed on a shopping mall/city (think the ship from WALL-E), and there's an alien VIRUS (like the Thing). so it's basically Hicks+marines+survivors holed up inside a space mall fighting all kinds of aliens (chameleon aliens, spike aliens, etc). and occasionally, people just EXPLODE and become aliens. it sounded FUCKING AMAZING.

@SonicSnail95 It certainly does, i remember one of the secondary drafts was the same as the actual film except the prisoners were actually monks instead of convicts. in fact i read that there was one scene where a monk goes to use the toilet (since they were simple monks they don't have working plumbing so they use port-a-jons) and the Runner Alien happened to be hiding in the pit area under the toilet, and it grabbed the monk and pulled him down through the toilet which was pretty awesome
