  • You gave the manatee attention the right way, it wasn't abusive, at all. That's good.

  • to be honest i don't like them.

  • WOW, you're lucky. I love manatees, but I live in Toronto.

  • wow, the water was really clear that day--nice video. I just uploaded my manatee video from the same spot!

  • Thanks for the video. The first time I saw a manatee was at the Dallas World Aquarium and they seemed so fascinating and peaceful.

  • i love manatees!

  • cool video, it shows how they will come up and play with you if they want to. It's not like that other left wing drive by media posts that show everyone is hurting the manatees.

  • THEY ARE DAMN CUTE!

  • Some people seem to think because a FEW of the manatees like the interaction that they ALL must like the interaction. that is not the case....and the manatees that dont seek out the interaction suffer for it.

  • I totally agree, FLkrakr, because I've seen the mobs from tour boats. It's upsetting. These are animals seeking a warm place.

We have been diving forever and have a great respect for all of God's creatures. I just hope that other people who DO go to Crystal River will remember that we are in their world. The water is their world. And maybe, people can be peaceful visitors, not fin flapping, screaming, chasing tourists, and if so, maybe they'll be lucky enough to have a true encounter.

  • We use one hand to pet them with. We don't seek them out, they seek us out, that is evident. We've been going there since 94. We love and respect the manatees. And just want to show how it is, if you repect them, without convoluted commentary. It's the babies who come to you. Or a mama with a calf, if she trusts you. We respect them all. If there is a "tour boat" in the area, we don't go there. These two videos are about how beautiful a personal encouter can be. Nothing more.

  • to see more of how it REALLY is...see goodrollmodel's video, "Manatees In The Wild"

  • what beautful animals
