Only the 200 series olympus engines create the intake harmonics
its at around 80% thrust that it happens only the southend vulcan and 558 create the howl during takeoff
as far as i am aware no other aircraft howls like that so love it while you can!!
she is a beautifull example of British engineering lets all fight to keep her in the air as we and "vulcan to the sky" have managed to put her back visit their web site!
A sound that makes little children crawl under their beds as if there was comming a huge monster out of the closet. And indeed a monster it was! Love that roaring sounds of those wicked engines!!
norwich city avation museum has a complete vulcan and they do tours up in the cockpit i highly recomend it for all those vulcan lovers out there not sure but i think it was XM612
Love that intake roar, kinda spooky, saw it a Cranfield in 92, first that strange howling & then that crackle as it goes vertical, can wait to see it in action again.
just nothing in the world that makes a noise like the Vulcan howl!!

I saw these in operation as an Air cadet and that engine sound still make my hair stand on end amazing.
I also saw the TSR2 and that was also bloody incredible.

The only way I could explain this down the pub before saying "I'll send you a link" was ...
"if you want to cream your pants on the internet without watching porn ......"
