I mean, they are the reason we got so many awesome meds! we soon got a cure for aids becuase of those rats! its just plain awesome! torture 1 rat to save milions of people in the future? the rats are heros! if somone gave me the shoice to be tortured to save millions of lives, I would have done it!

Yeah I'd rather let us all die than to make the world more populated with cancer, I mean us humans. We are destroying our own habitat and while we are doing that we are also destroying other animals' habitat. Nature made a big mistake making humans able to reproduce so much with a huge life span.

You're quite a fool if you think Atlantis is a hoax. There were accounts FAR before Plato which stated the existence of the "lost continent". Atlantis may not be what you think it might be, just a continent which sunk below the sea floor. You can't out rule the possibility that it didn't exist because even reputable scholars have a hard time doing so.

Wow it must have taken a ling time to find that many rats with spinal cord injuries to take part in the the trials. Poor little fellas, it must be all that skateboarding mice do today. I saw mice skateboarding in some movies recently and I thought, It will all end in tears. Looks like I was right, It's a good thing these scientists came up with this to help them.

I assume that the scientists studying this procedure want to dissect the rat afterwards to examine the site of the procedure.
This would not be possible in humans for decades.
To have gotten to a to a point where it seems obvious to move on to human subjects has no doubt required many previous animal studies, which it would not have been ethical to subject humans to.

I am pro-voluntary human testing, but not forced. I think that if a society is violating human rights to save human lives it is not a society whose lives are worth saving. I am totally for animal testing, and eating animals. The fact that humans have large brains (what makes us human) is partially based on increased protein from eating animals. Also, like the physicist said, "(If humans had not domesticated animals we would still be hunters and gatherers)."

Its alot like being an organ donor, its your choice, you can die, and give your organs to research and save the life of someone else, but no one else can make you do it. I can't think of one time in my knowledge where one person was sacrificed for the lives of MANY, and that one person didn't have a say in it. Shit, even Jesus had a say in his death. As an owner of 2 beautiful pet rats, it is sad to watch this. They really are great pets who bond with their owners and are the most intelligent of all rodents.
However, I am glad for research like this as it is invaluable to really improve the lives of hundreds of people.
